WHAT I’M WEARING & FEATURED PATTERNS:
**20% off for first week ending midnight AST Oct 24th 2024**
    Both Designs for Cakepalooza 2024
    1. Icing on the Cake Vest (my own design) - using Cake Wool Dough (DK weight) and Cream (Mohair) color Dogtooth Violet.
Hand dyed ribbons to be available by Chelsea Luxe
    2. Icing on the Cake Vest (my own design) - using Cake Wool Dough (DK weight) and Cream (Mohair) color Dogtooth Violet.
DISCUSSION ON STITCH GAUGE VS ROW GAUGE:
My impromptu discussion on St vs Row gauge. Example to visualize; if gauge is 20st and 24 rows for 4" then the proportion between st and row gauge is 20:24 or 5:6, so for a vertical pick up you would knit every 5 out of 6 rows. I tend to simplify and find it generally works perfectly when knitting 3 out of 4 rows. Hope this helps!!!
    WHAT HAS BEEN FINISHED:
    1. Colorwork Cuff Club (by Summer Lee) - using leftovers mini for white and Tanis Fiber Arts Purple Label Cashmere Sock color Deep Space
    2. Fun cuff for A Woolen Affair (by Catherine of Brooklyn General Store) - using a mix of Holst Garn Supersoft held double
    WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
    1. For Fox Sake (by Maxim Cyr) - using leftovers: Hillesvag ASK 6055 color Grey for MC, ASK color 6541 which I redyed to be a dark blue, Tukuwool DK color Syli & New Lanark Wool color Limestone
    2. Steven West MKAL GO GO DYNAMO - are you knitting it? - I’m planning on using Walcott Yarn Opus colors Spellbound & Black Light with a mohair dare of Cake Wool Cream Mohair color Dogtooth Violet.
    3. Cabled Vest v. 2 (my own design) - using Harrisville Nightshades color Dashboard

    RHINEBECK WEEKEND AND VARIOUS EVENTS:

Thanks so much for explaining why in some areas when picking up stitches it’s one for one and other times 3 for 4. I now understand why and it will make it easier when I next do it.
    Thanks.

I did not know about the ratio of picking up stitches. Thank you for explaining that so clearly.

Another lovely episode, Beth! Always love the Ted/Beth Talks on techniques or knitting skills... all so fun. 🤗 And I was fascinated with the beautiful graphic raindrops, growing on the stone wall at the end... enjoy your time at Rhinebeck - the weekend will be a blast!! ... and I'm off to look at your newest pattern features! I have an amazing collection of silk scarves, gathered when I had a part-time job at Simpsons (ladies accessories) in the mid/late 1970s - I was age 15 to 18 at the time, and my passion for silk scarves started then (and with employee discount which was wonderful), and of course I still have them ALL - they would be so fun to swap out for different moods in the Icing on the Cake neckline. Cheers until next time! Judith 💜💚

I loved your Ted Talk this time. I pick up stitches a lot but your way of thinking about it somehow made so much sense. I love your new designs. Already purchased the icing on the cake cowl. thx 😊

Great podcast, thanks! Talking through your design process of the Icing on the Cake vest gave me the courage to try it. I have never done an all over cable garment but I'm going to give it a go. Thanks for the inspiration and encouragment.

Hi Jeff! lol. Hi Beth~ You're the best at talking through things. I hope you have a wonderful trip. I love your SW shawl. Gorgeous! I started but there was too much time needed and I have so many things I want to complete before the holidays. I kind of wish his KALs were switched, socks in October and the shawl in the summer. LOL. Enjoy your trip~ Kimberly

Good explanation about picking up stitches along a vertical edge to knit at 90 degrees from the original knitting. Also, it is the fact that you want the neckline to curve against your neck or arm that you need to pick up fewer stitches along a neckline or armhole. Your vest has lovely movement. The Fenne pattern by Natasja Hornby has the stitch (she calls it shifting sands) in the body, but your variegated yarn creates even more movement.

Take both projects, life is short and who knows what you will feel like knitting and have the time for. I love your designs and channel. Have fun at Rhinebeck weekend and all the events! Missing this year, already looking forward to attending next year.

Take both projects. I would do the involved Stephen West on the plane and if I had alone time in a morning or evening. I'm only going for the Saturday to Rhinebeck and I'm sure I will have 3 projects in my bag! Also we carry Opus at Pick Up Every Stitch so we will hook you up on Thursday!

20:13 i think this technique is called jacquard. I love it because i don't like long floats, and I hate to catch them because they are always visible in front of my knitting.
