My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

Young lady, (yup, I’m old enough) you’ve done your Grandpa proud. Another great job with a difficult task.
Aw! Thanks!
@@Chickanic
Awesome! Very good job! I believe you have worked on one or two chainsaw’s before. Lol.
LinemanG
And to think she did it all in a retro
Love American Style T-shirt.
The 70's were such a fun time!
@@Chickanic
I’m from south Arkansas and I’m
just now learning about chickanic? I watch Utube quite a bite. She has some really good videos. Very informative. LinemanG
Exactly, you did good kidoe's.
from an era when Craftsman made good stuff!
Dad received the Poulan green version of that saw from fellow hunting buddies in 1973.The darn thing just won't quit. We cut wood to feed the woodstove with it for 15 years until we finally moved on to some bigger saws. That saw in it's bright green carrier still followed us out to the woods as a rescue saw for many years. Still gets dusted off occasionally. Bet I've been given 3 dozen of those exact same saws in various manufacturer's colors over the years. Seems like the most rebranded saw of all times.
A strong woman, a craftswoman, a chickanic. Great work.
Great work restoring Grandad’s chainsaw.
I started watching and realized there’s my chainsaw 😊 a gift from my mom when my wife and I bought our house in 1986. I bought another one for parts about ten years ago and of course it ran after a little work so now I’ve got two 😃 Thanks for posting this ♥️ you brought back memories of my wife and mom 😇
My Grandpa had a Craftsman chain saw, much to my Mother's dismay, he began teaching me how to run a chain saw when I was about 10 or so. Time travel 60 years later I still, stihl, love to cut firewood. Thank you for the fond memory, oz.
Grandpa is looking down, beaming with pride.
Wow!! Your best video ever. Took a lot of guts to tackle that one without narration.
glad to see my "use packaging material to gap the ignition coil" technique is chickanic approved.
The fastest working mechanic on You Tube!
Bre, You are amazing! That Craftsman chainsaw looks brand new. It was not only very satisfying to watch you tear it down peace by peace. I'm sure you got a lot of satisfaction of restoring it, and on top of which, the sentimental value that it was your grandfather's discarded treasure. You do such amazing work, and I always enjoy your enthusiasm.🙂👋
Great job! Just finished restoring a Homelite XL for a friend. It had been sitting in his grandfather's basement for a long time. He wasn't sure how long . Love you videos. Mikey 😁
As a man I really do appreciate a woman that appreciates a well running two stroke. Even more so if she tuned it to do so...😊
I just found you about a week ago love your work I’m a marine mechanic in louisiana so I like what you do keep up the great content I’ll keep watching and supporting your channel so glad I found you
I'm a retired marine mechanic/hydro racer. I love restoring old boat engines

❤ The Love American Style Throwback T-Shirt ❤ That show was the king of double entendre comedy.
Reminds me of the Poulan Pro I had. Worked well no matter what I threw at it. Really impressive re-build and restore of the Craftsman. A little bit of your Grandpa memories came back to life.
My poulan has a metal case
Love your videos. It's nice to see women doing things that were traditionally done by men.
BTW, love your pink Nitrile gloves! Nice touch.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this chain saw by Craftsman/Poulan. They were light weight, easy to start, just a pleasure to use. The only grip I ever had was there was only one bolt to tighten the bar. It should have been manufactured with 2. Otherwise. Thank you so much for doing the work and posting this video

Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. It’s a labor of love for sure.
That old craftsman is probably better made than 90% of what is for sale today
It has unusual design, compared to any Stihl, Husqvarna, Partner, Shindaiva, Dolmar or others I ever seen.
Had one almost exactly like that one. The ignition coil cratered and a six month search for a replacement failed to find one. Poor baby went to chain saw heaven. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.
That was truly a work of love. I would have stripped in down thinking I could fix it but then have no idea how to put it all back together. I am very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed watching every but!
Loved those old chainsaws, we called them bulletproof back in the day!!
Sweet! I could get it to the place where it was apart but from there forward I’d be lost. Very satisfying for you I’m sure.
Dang girl! You just amaze me every time I watch your channel. You made that look easy, but i know it's not. I have my daddy's old saw in the garage. You just inspired me to give it a go. I won't attempt too far. I know my limits. Thank you. You're the best! 🎉
I have my fathers McCulloch, around 1962. Would be herculean task to restore it.
That saw was in remarkable shape for where it was stored. I’ve seen equipment in worse shape sitting in a garage. The carburetor was unbelievable. Great job! Looks fantastic..
I have a craftsman like that one on my shelf over forty years old. Used it a lot in 89 when hurricane Hugo came through here. Like all your customers say, it was running when i parked it. I'm a grandpa and that rebuild was a blast. Made me fee a little nostalgic. Great video.
Love watching work and how thorough you are with everything you do. Your grandfather would be very happy that you revived his chainsaw. 🎉❤
You never cease to amaze me Bre. Amazing ability and knowledge, definitely not a girly girl most of the time. Keep up the great work.
I appreciate that! Thanks!
not girly girl but def nice legs 🙂
@@snobear41 listen, she's a beauty in all rights.
It needs a sticker that says "Craftswoman" to replace the Craftsman sticker. This was great! I learned quite a bit too.
Awesome I’m sure your grandpa is smiling that you restored his saw and it’s running like a champ. Great work!
Good job with grandad's saw , can't believe that diaphragm was still good . 👍🇬🇧
One of the greater joys in life. Taking something apart. Been doing it since I was 3, when I took my Mom's vacuum apart.
I own a home lite xl100 from 1970. It has been well maintained and runs like a charm. It belonged to my dad.
I love it!!! And I bet your Grandpa is smiling, where ever he is!
Truer actions were never spoken.
Great rebuild...
Just the adsulute perfect woman, loves two strokes......seriously this was a great video, no bs, no fannying about, just a great shout to your grandad. Learnt loads from your videos and thank you from the UK. Messing with an 009 and an 015 at the moment, just love old top handles. Xx
Un-frickin-real. I’m amazed that you got it back together again that quickly. Crap that was awesome.
What a great video but that wasn't an armpit assist getting that flywheel off! I love that you're keeping your grandfather's saw going!
Those are pretty decent saws, I'll even grab one for camping now and again in my rotation
The OSHA approved footwear cracks me up every time.
I had a chainsaw like that. The only thing I disliked was taking the top off to adjust the carb. Thanks for sharing 😊.
During Covid I went a little nuts and bought a pile of saws and did the same thing. Ended up with an Echo CS-360T that’s a beaut now, but had been crushed by a tree. It now lives in my dads shed and gets used all the time. Did another for a buddy a Jonsered 625 that is now used all the time.
Those old Pouland saws always work, they're too simple not to. Same with the old Homelite and McCulloch. My Dad has a Mini Mac 110 that will never stop running!
Dam girl that was great, I'm sure Grandpa would be proud of you. I never would have remembered where all those screws and bolts would go, fantastic video, now I have to go take a cold shower😊
Hi Bre, your expression was worth the wait. Amazing what you can do in less than 1/2 hr. LOL. Thanks!
I watched the followup video before I watched this one, so this I had understanding of what is going on here. Awesome job in restoring your Grandpa's saw. Equipment that has sentimental value is so much more than just equipment. i'm happy you shared this with us. AND IT IDLES!!!
Loved hearing that sweet smooth rev and idle. Amazing restoration. Thanks for sharing.
last week I cut two trees down in my front yard with my "new" 5yo Stihl. The saw quit ran out of gas and wouldn't restart. I got my fathers 60 yo Homelite xl 12, it fired right up and I finished the job. I must say the Homelight had more power than the Stihl.
They DID. My Homelite 150s will out run my slightly larger Stihl MS251, especially buck sawing logs and the metal case dissipated heat better to boot. Thing is back in the day, the Textron / Homelite Co. did not need to be concerned with ENVIRO regulations, not to mention sound level!
My first experience with a chain saw was with a Craftsman just like that one. I cut down an Elm tree that was 38" in diameter with it and sawed it into firewood. The next saw I used was another Crafts man and it was also a workhorse. My understanding was that Poulan built the Craftsman saws but i had a Poulan and it was a do detter, but it did not last long with all the wood I cut. Great job Bre and loved the video
Just like new! Grandpa should be proud. What a treasure!
Great video and very nice resto job. Looks amazingly like my 1989 Poulan 2300 CVA. Recently replaced the bar oil supply lines and fuel lines. Still runs great.
Yup, most Craftsmans were simply rebadged Poulans which were best to my knowledge made in Shreveport, LA and in this case just painted grey.
I have the same saw. Bought it when I got married in 1983. Still runs great, it's a Poulan/Craftsman. Good video!
Yep! I thought I was seeing my "one-hander" limbing saw by Poulan. Nice work Bre! How did you stay quiet? I do like your comments, so insightful & smart! Thanks.
The music cracks me up every time. Nice job on the new shop!
"Love Americian style, truer than the Red White and Blue" Old 70's show...........Didn't know they had shirts! Great video. Glad you got your voice back at the end. Missed the narration. lol
You make it look sooooo easy! I guess that's why you 're the PRO.
I have several vintage chainsaws and lawnmowers. Built to last! Really enjoyed this particular video ❤
Grandpa must be special, that's a lot of work for a craftsman! Nice job, well done!
I can't believe all the bolts were still in the saw. Most have lost many of the originals and many have threads that are stripped. May I suggest lock tight too keep them for posterity.
Just worked on one exactly like that one this week for a lady. It was her dad's. I didn't restore it, but I did go through it and make it run like new. It sat for several years. Funny thing is, when I took the carb apart, it looked as clean as yours did. The pump diaphragm was slightly "plastic-y", but the metering diaphragm was soft as silk. I was as surprised as you were, lol. Cleaned and rebuilt anyway with a new kit. We normally tend to turn older equipment away if it's not worth much, but those old Craftsman saws are legendary.
How proud would your grandpa be to see you do this great chuoce for a restoration thanks for sharing Kraig from Washington State
Your most welcome love your videos keep up the geat work your a inspiration to all of us not just women out there glad to take information from you anytime Kraig from Washington State
Thanks for the advice/insight on the premixed gas. The Echo blower is a new machine now that I don't use the junk premixed fuel.
My father in law just gave me an old craftsman 358.356090. Not ideal for cutting brush but still cuts like a champ.
Your the best mechanic I've ever seen, I live in Maine , no one in My area can compete with you knowledge 😊
Probably the coolest chainsaw video I have seen except for the one that you showed about starting an Echo timberwolf, thanks, I really enjoyed this one
That EXACT saw has been my go-to saw since i bought it used almost 35yrs ago.
Great teardown video format.
This one probably won't properly oil the bar, but still fixable...
These Poulan/Craftsman saws were unbelievably common and went thru many revisions. This was the final version and the best.
I also have the blow-molded Craftsman (banjo-style) case to this saw, and it is frankly the best saw case i have ever seen or used.
And, yep... almost 40yrs old- have never rebuilt my carb either.
People have no idea what Quality this country once made 💥🇺🇲💥~
I have one similar . I have not been able to get it to start . I will have to spend more time on it now that my back is healing . You inspired me with this video . ❤😊
Bet grandpa is smiling down on you.
Was hoping for a shot of you jumping in the pool at the end, DANG!
No other way about it. You are an awesome, talented mechanic. Great job.
Great Job! I love restoration of equipment!
First part of the running commentary, Owwww!
The ending shows how much you enjoy your job!!
The diaphragm still pliable in the carburator is a testament to the fuel we used to buy. What is the fuel/ oil mixture for that saw?
I run modern 2 cycle oil, synthetic mixed 40:1 in this older equipment. from what I heard won't hurt the new equipment either, unless you start having issues with carbon on plug, piston, plugged up muffler.
I have that exact saw in perfect condition, purchased new in 1995 if i remember correctly. Love it!
OMG i have the exact same saw. Still running great to this day !!!!!!
Wow Bré you grandad will be so proud of you hope you use it for work around you property
Glad I found this! I have this same saw but Poulan (at least it looks identical) I got from my uncle years ago sitting on a shelf waiting for me to get time to go through it.
Wow. That saw looks good and sounds great. I tip my hat to you.
I have my father's chain saw I'm doing the same with. I do enjoy when you talk more in the video. I know you can't win for losin'. Wishing you the best and really enjoy and learn a lot from your videos.
Lovely👍.. bring back old stuff back to life.. I would have done the same
I love the top handle saws, they are just the right size to carry on the 4 wheeler. I plung cut into the end of a piece of 4x6 post, strapped it to the rack on the 4 wheeler.
without a doubt the best restore video I have ever seen. You are a genius and I love your videos. Keep up the great work
Really enjoyed this video.
I have my dad's Craftsman Super EZ that's around 50 years old.
I would be afraid that I'd never get it back together
Obviously it's not the first chain saw you take apart. I'm flabergasted! I'm impressed. To bad to sad Craftman went belly up. They use to manufacture great tools of all kind.😊
I just got this same chainsaw at an estate sale for $5, your video is going to be a huge help
Love this. I have 3 just like it. They all will run, 2 are currently running.
Fantastic job!!!! Now get in that pool! 😊
Just when I thought....no start up??? And you fired up the bad boy lol . Runs great too 👍
That craftsman was sold at Sears. I have a similar unit (mine is painted orange) my dad purchased it about 46 yrs ago and it still runs great. They definitely don't build them like that anymore. Too much garbage coming in from China. When small engines were built in Canada & USA they were rock solid, dependable reliable!
And that is an original Poulan great saws. I have a 306A and a 2.0 I nought new years ago and they both run as good today as when I bought them. I am now 76!!!!
AWESOME!!! I enjoy working on old chainsaws and other equipment. I prefer Homelite saws but I also Rehave a yellow bone in my collection. Recently I got my mom's old Ford rototiller that had been sitting for at least 15 years got it going in a day. Needs gear seals and the govenor sticks and belts
Love that! To be able to use something that most people would throw away,I love that! Not to mention,it was your grandpa! He’d be proud of you!
So sad that it sat neglected in the weeds for so long, but I am happy to see the resurrection! Magnificent job, Bre!
Grandad would be very pleased. ❤❤
You are so good at that! I could never remember all that. What a feeling you get when it starts. Most people just wouldn't understand
ASMR.........Very gratifying for sure...Loved the video!
Awesome, keeping another out of the trash pile.
Great restoration! Now I have to dig out my ole Poulan I got somewhere in the mid 80’s and get it working…you’ve inspired me
I had a husqvarna, poulan, and wearer auto saw made just like that one. All three identical just different color plastic
Time well spent! Thanks. You are a master.
What a great video, I am amazed how easy you make it all look. I would have never remembered how to put it all back together. I haven’t been watching your videos for too long but have enjoyed all of the ones I’ve seen, I’ll definitely be watching more.
