The forthcoming surprise new single “EVERLASTING” was revealed to listeners on the premiere of Season 2 “The Jody Watley Show.” The new episode aired January 14 with rebroadcast January 15 on Sirius XM’s The Groove, Channel 51. You can catch the preview on the final encore presentation of TJWS Thursday January 18, 5 PM PST / 8 PM EST.
The contemporary R&B/Soul track was written and produced by Jody Watley and longtime collaborator jazz musician Rodney Lee, with additional production by another consistent creative to her team, renowned Italian DJ/Producer Alex Di Ciò.
‘EVERLASTING’ not only showcases Watley’s continued growth but also delivers an instantly impactful message of resilience and perseverance to kick off the new year.
The commercial release date is tentatively set for January 30, heralding yet another chapter in an illustrious career.
Watley comments, “More than just a song, it’s a reflection of life’s journey of lessons, resilience, self-belief and never giving up. I had listened to Shalamar on the radio from 6th grade in 1979, but I had never seen their faces until 1985. I thought that they were always Howard, DiLisa, and Micky. When I was stationed in Europe in the military in 1987, I saw Jody Watley's "Still A Thrill" video on TV and was stunned by her beauty and her dance moves. Before the video aired, the announcer said that she was part of Shalamar, but I thought that she might have sung backup in the studio or something. I was so into homework and video games that I had never visually seen Jody Watley until 1987.
