Great time for a spring ride, conditions looked good for traction, we have been doing the same in our riding area in the PNW of Washington. Out clearing all the wind falls and opening new trails for the season, it has been a mild winter and riding conditions were very good thru the winter.
I was gonna dissemble my TE150i and ship it because I’m moving back to Kanagawa with this terrain ….. maybe I need to sell all my bikes here and buy a 300?
My recommendation is a 250, or 300 2-stroke. But if you’re dead set on a 150 that’s fine too, but can be a bit more challenging to ride in some of the terrain we typically ride.
Are you still running the 12 tooth sprocket and if so, is it better in your opinion on typical trail rides overall or just steep hills? Excellent riding!!!
On my 2024 300 EXC I’m using 13/50 gearing. Due to transmission differences it feels about the same as 12/50 gearing on my 2017 300 EXC. It works well for this type of riding.
How often would you say, do you use 1st and 2nd with 13/50? I know it’s your personal preference..the US bikes come with 13/45 and I’m about to try a 12T first then switch to 13/47 and compare. Here in New England we have similar terrain although your Hill climbs are much longer…would love to try your trails some time, can I rent a bike in your area if I plan a trip? Thanks again for your video coverage.

I see what you did there! Phil gets to lead to clear the trail! Lol!
Lol! I was thinking the same! Sounds like Phil finally repacked his silencer, his bike sounds much better than in past videos.
No more snow men, gutted……..
