Album version: And in this life like weeds, you're just a rock to me I could have told you all that I love you And in the places you go, you'll see the place where you're from I could have told you all that I love you And in the faces you meet, you'll see the place where you'll die I could have told you all that I love you And on the day that you die, you'll see the people you'd met I could have told you all that I love you And in the faces you see, you'll see just who you've been I wish I could have told you all In this life like weeds, eyes need us to see Hearts need us to bleed, in this life like weeds You're a rock to me I know where you're from, but where do you belong? In this life like weeds, you're the dirt I'll breathe In this life like weeds, you're a rock to me All this talkin' all the time and the air fills up, up, up Until there's nothin' left to breathe And you think you feel most everything And we know that our hearts are just made out of strings To be pulled, strings to be pulled So you think you've figured out everything But we know that our minds are just made out of strings To be pulled, strings to be pulled All this talkin' all the time and the air fills up, up, up Until there's nothing left to breathe Up until there's nothin' left to speak. Up until the better parts of space
Their shows when they were a trio look intense. Especially that Dallas one. Its like they weren't supposed to be a trio and they'd make it work somehow even though isaac would be all coked up and drunk changing songs on the fly all the time. Eric Judy and Jeremiah Green got such a good groove together. As long as they kept up with brock going ape shit it always worked out. I think this performance in particular had a second guitarist but they did alot in the late 90s without. I like this version cause its fucked up. Isaac brock is fucking up alot. But he fucking really really well. He's not the only musician that can do that but he is one of the best at it. I went to their show a couple years ago and was taken aback cause it was really tight and there were like half a dozen people up there. It sounded really really good it just wasn't what I was expecting. I think they had two drummers.
I love the album version but this gives me a newfound appreciation of the song. I've never heard Isaac sound quite like this
Love how Isaac sings the songs so different every time they perform. It's awesome!
greatness. love this version.
This is so deep. So beautiful sounds. My soul want to smile, but crying.
Nice... I like this version...
Happy stuff like this was recorded. Best version of this song hands down.
I really liked this version it has a totally different vibe from the studio one

its really fun to see how Isaac and the band developed and changed the lyrics
So God damned beautiful . ...
these guys were absolutely amazing in their prime. I wish I was a bit older in the 96-99 mouse era to travel and see these shows

88 thumbs up, and not even a single down like, mind blown!!!
Number 90 here ;)
My god. This band was pure uncut grime Rock. I miss this sound so much
6:29 that little tiny lick of Doin' the Cockroach is so cool :) 3 years before it would exist on album
No cockroach was out way before life like weeds
actually Cockroach was just the next song on that night's set list!
I hear he doesn't know how to play stars are projectors and this song live . But this version is neat
Just listened to a fairly current interview this week where IB said that.
Do yall know which interview?
Well he's learned Stars Are Projectors 😂
