Legend has it that long after the fade out, Laura's bass player is still doing that octave riff in the studio to this day, his fingers are mighty tired...
I am 70 and still a beginner. I have watched and listened to this dozens of times and i WILL play it even if it kills me. It is inspiring to watch such a brilliant musician relaxing and enjoying playing . Awesome Troy!
That's great to hear! I know you'll get it. I believe because of the repetitive nature of the bass-line in this song, it helps to think of your hands as machines and let them do their thing. Thank you very much and best wishes to you.
This completely made my day. Thank you for reintroducing me to a forgotten gem. Always appreciate the wonderful music and level of mastery you display.
There's something really triumphant and seductive about this song. And that octave bass line under the powerful vocal certainly contributes to that.Great cover as usual,TJH!
Your playing always on spot Troy. Enjoy this song more that I actually see the bass line being played . I really like the Guild bass too has a great tone to it. ✌🏻
Great work, Troy. Just heard this on the radio here in London, thought I’d give it a go. I had a Guild back in the 80s, but for a 2 hour pub gig, it was too heavy ! Literally. I swapped it out for a much lighter Westone Thunder !

Such a bouncy and bright bassline, I dig it. Lovely song and my memories of it are always sort of intercut between the heartbreaking, crushing ice skating scene from Flashdance and Laura's video singing this.
I remember listening to this when I was in middle school and still enjoy this song to this day. My favorites are always going to be 80s & 90s music like her's
Laura além de Linda cantava demais, dominava as notas. A linha de baixo desse Clássico é Sensacional e mais uma vez você executou espetacularmente.👏👏👏👏👏
Came to watch you after listening to Angel Olsen's version. You're one of the bassists who amazes this one, who stop playing 30 years ago. Thank you, kind sir

Look how much fun you're having! People can say whatever they want about disco but it's impossible not to move to it and was there a better decade to be a bass player than the 70s?!? Disco AND prog? Thanks for posting... Brought a smile to my face for many reasons.
this song was the St Louis Blues victory song, and it made their 2019 Stanley Cup win feel so much better given the team's both illustrious and depressing history, only recently learned about it but seeing the montages, it was a very uplifting and happy moment in the NHL, I'll probably start rooting for them alongside my Washington Capitals soon
As usual your bass cover dramatically enhances my enjoyment of this song. I used to think of this as a throwaway song from AM radio when I was a kid. You bring out the artistry in even a “pop” song. Bravo. So much more than initially meets the ear!

When I saw this title that you were going to cover I immediately thought of Gloria / THEM. LOL. Love this song, too! Lot's of good disco beat to it and you nailed it! Thanks for sharing.
I essentially learned the octave technique from this video and am now going to use them to make a cover (suggested to me as a happy song during this difficult time) of Pop Goes the World By Men Without Hats. Wanted to say thanks again for the excellent videos and tutorials. Superb.
