Hi Nick. I really enjoy your videos and like your explanations of each project you do. I personally don't have a Thunderbird but a 64 is on my wish list. What I do have is a 1964 Galaxie 500 XL. A lot of what you do can be applied to my Galaxie. I ran into the same problem when I wanted to convert my Galaxie to power brakes and add the dual master for safety. I was fortunate to be able to find a used power booster and I sent the booster (Midland) to Booster Dewey in Portland Oregon for a rebuild. They have an excellent rebuild service and it wasn't a problem for me to wait for the rebuild. Before I found the original I had purchased a kit that was also supposed to be a direct bolt on. It was not a success. I wasted time and money and never was able to make it work correctly. I decided to dig deep into how these systems are designed and that is when I discovered that the factory engineering that goes into these systems is key to them working correctly. Your customers car was originally equipped with power brakes. That makes all the difference. The standoff bracket on the back of the booster and the correct power brake pedal (with the right pedal ratio) was key on my car. I have done modifications on my Galaxie to improve things but what I have found is you cannot beat the factory setup when it comes to design. I'm glad you were happy with the results. Thank you for making these very informative videos. ps. After watching your video on the MOOG spring compressor I added that to my tool wish list. I was finally able to buy one on eBay after checking for weeks to see if one came up for sale. I'm ashamed to say how much I paid for it but it was in very good condition and all the parts were there including the original paperwork and case. It is now one of my prized tools.

Hey MS, thank you. Its hard to believe that Ford would produce such a big car like the Galaxy without power brakes, mind boggling! I was also surprised that the aftermarket booster worked as well as it did. I got lucky with that one. Yes, finding cores today is really a bitch! The spring compressor is one of my favorite tools and I never leave the house without it lol. Heavy SOB too. If you only have one car, you probably wont use it much. I use mine all the time. The best tool I have mostly. Anyway, thanks again.

Man Nick, you have the patients of a saint. There is no way I would be able to keep my cool through this torturous process. I hope the company that sold you this half assed product sees this video, not that it will make any difference I am sure. There really is no after market dual bowl solution for pre 67 birds. I wish someone would come up with one because I think they'd sell a lot of them. I heard that the 67 t-bird dual bowl would work, but you need to notch the shock tower bracket.

Hi Nick, Thanks for posting these videos. What adapter did you use to connect the brake light switch?

Hey Todd, sorry but I didnt make any notes about that. I should have but I didnt. I just dont remember. However, what I did was I went to the auto parts store with the master and tried all their fittings until I got the correct ones. I did use an L shaped T fitting and that screwed into another fitting to adapt the master cylinder hole to brake line size. Sorry for not having that info.

Hey Nick, thanks for this video! I've been battling a mushy pedal on my '62 after upgrading to a dual circuit master. I believe the factory single circuit master has a 7/8" bore, but my new one is 1" and is for late 60s drum/drum configured Ford cars. The brakes felt great on my single master but I've bled the master and lines until my hands bled, tried a different (1" bore) MC... should I use a 7/8 bore MC like the single pot was?

Hey obsoletegeek, Ive never tried what you are trying to do but it makes sense to me that if the 1" bore master didnt work, try the 7/8". Thats what I would do. Good luck.

Such a shame to see the original booster go obsolete! Send it to us for a complimentary rebuild in exchange for a shout out in your channel!

Hi, this must be Booster Mark. I called you about this brake booster and if you watched my video part 1, you probably realized that I was talking about contacting you guys since you had told me your guy had been in a car accident. Without having access to a rebuilt brake booster, I had no choice but to try the aftermarket booster. Yes, I agree that its a shame that these boosters are becoming so rare that I cant even get someone to send me one first and then send the core back later. Thats not the way it used to be. I have purchased all my rebuilt brake boosters (hundreds upon hundreds) from you guys since the 90's when Dewey owned the place and was always very satisfied for the great product and customer service. Something that is also going obsolete these days. I would be glad to plug Power Brake Booster Exchange in exchange for a rebuilt brake booster. We can speak about that more later, Ill call you when I'm ready to make the trade. Thanks Mark.

Watching your videos you said something about a part number which I have never gotten. I can understand your video and was worth watching. I’m wanting to do the same thing. Now by chance would you be willing to give me the part number and the supplier where you got the booster. Thank you again. Danny

Hey Danny, I explained in the video why I didnt name the company or part number of the booster assembly. It was a little bit of a conundrum deciding whether or not to install this assembly and to post the video because of my opinion of the manufacturer. Anyway, the company I purchased it from is called tomsclassic. You can find them on eBay. Good luck.

Hey Eric, sorry but I have never heard of anyone removing the original disc brakes and replacing them with after market disc brakes on these Thunderbirds. I can imaging you could do that but I don't know anything about it. You might want to try Wilwood? Good luck.

This is mickey mouse man lol.I have a 1982 grumman step van with a ford E- 350 chassis that needs a vacuum booster but I cannot find one so I might try to retrofit the same way.

Hey Rich, at lease the unit worked well despite that fact that it didn't fit worth a damn. Good luck.

Hello Nick. What a pain in the ass! The company you got this from obviously did not try to fit this on a 62 T-bird. It should of had the correct brackets at least. And no instructions? What a joke!

Hey George, yeah, the guy could care less that the bracket was wrong. Nobody else complained so why should he care? Well thats a bunch of crap. Im never the only one who complains, its just a scam.

I can't figure out why you wouldn't tell us what company you bought that part from thats pathetic. There's nothing wrong with speaking the truth. I bought a new dual master cylinder from PartsGeek but they sent me a single master cylinder the exact same one I had on my Thunderbird. PartsGeek would not pay for return shipping( it's in the fine print) although it was completely their fault. Capital One was no help at all I had to pay $17 to ship the damn thing back to get a refund ,minus all shipping charges. NEVER AGAIN! Look up parts geek under Better Business Bureau........ 66 Mustang dual master cylinder work just fine

Hey P2BW, I explained clearly and thoroughly in my video why I didn't name the company. I don't want to promote a company that purposefully misrepresents their product and will not support their customers. I also do not want to be sued for saying something bad about some business. After I read your comment here, I searched eBay for, "1961-64 Thunderbird dual master cylinder" and the brake booster and master that I show in my video was the third item to come up from the company I bought it from. I show clearly what the assembly looks like in my video, there can be no mistake. All anyone has to do is to compare my video to what they find on eBay. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Partsgeek. Don't buy anything from them again if they have such bad policies. Anyway, do the same search I did and you will see the brake booster master assembly I bought advertised from the same company. Good luck.
