It does surprisingly fit together very well. It could be that Seuss' art style, while whimsical can also be quite surreal and unnerving. Look up Grinch Night, for instance, and you'll see what I mean.
As for the writing, the simple rhyme scheme is effective at translating the story into a concise retelling that feels like a mix of a song and a dream.

This production is genius on multiple levels. Matching Seuss’s simple rhythm is harder than it looks. Imitating Seuss’s confident stroke and design without simply copying pictures requires a hand already well-practiced in several styles of art. Summarizing a venerated work in the briefest terms that still carries the original literary gem takes practice. And to even come up with this idea in the first place indicates a mind that anyone should love to learn from by a fireplace some rainy evening. Well done!!!

The point of Lovecraftiana is that the Elder Gods existed aeons before us, and consider us like we'd consider a centipede scuttling across our kitchen-floor.
The centipede doesn't understand what a 'kitchen' is; and we wouldn't care to communicate that concept with the centipede.

Drop a big nuke, on that city so deep, is the only sure way, to keep Cthulhu from waking from sleep.

This isn't the first such mixing of genres that I've seen but I enjoy this particular combination.
If Dr. Suess & Pinhead had a love child...

I’ll never have children of this I am sure. But if by some strange machination of fate, some little ones I find I must simply elate. Then I’m sure that each and every night, this book I simply could not keep out of sight. For when they where all cozy and snug in their beds, tales of great Cthulhu I shortly would shed. For monster and madness you can’t comprehend are nightmares best shared with children of men.

I was listening to this while grooming myself
When suddenly my hair dryer fell from the shelf
It must have hit something, but nothing was found
It turned on without ever touching the ground

T'is true, I say! I'll tell you no lies
I witnessed such an event with my very own eyes.
I watched this video at almost a quarter to 4
And an unseen force banged on my door.
I started, I shouted, jumped right out of my pants
It made my skin crawl like I was covered in ants
I looked outside, why, I looked all around!
But the source of the bang was not to be found
There were no screeches from owls, no howls from the hound
not a clue to the source of that startling sound
All was now silent, for in the night the world sleeps
It was eerie I tell you, it gave me the creeps!
So here I now sit, relaying to you
Of the fright I received at 3:42
You may scoff, you may laugh- as most people do
But I'm telling you, friend, that my story is true!

This is great! Excellent copping of Dr. Seuss' art style! I'm thinking, however, that the rhymes sound more like Edward Gorey- and that Mr. Gorey's style would lend itself to Lovecraftian subjects very well, also.

Seuss did create a sort of horror for kids back in the 50s called The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T
It's brilliant, I think, and nightmarish, and while it was a flop in the day it deserves to be touched up, lightly edited and re-released.
