We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a /new dark/ age.”

I dont get why people are so upset with the clear racism in Lovecrafts storys. The man is dead and the time he lived in aswell. Although he obviously didnt see both kind of people as equal he definetly thought that both are equally fucked. We Humans, black or white, are but an incredible small and unimportant stain in the grand scheme of things that we cant even perceive in its whole extent.

That aspect of the story is simply an unfortunate product of its time. I’m a minority the Klan would love to kill, but that doesn’t stop me from watching something like The Birth Of A Nation either. It’s something we should absolutely look upon as wrong, but also not condemn it outright because it’s important to acknowledge such wretched relics and resolve ourselves to work hard not to repeat the mistakes of the past.

I find the designs of H.P. Love crafts creatures literally impossible to think of, how do even create such a design for a Eldridge god like without asking some sort of inspirational model from a already existing creature, sure Cthulhu was a mix of a dragon squid and human but the structure of the body just completely makes you wanna wipe those out the picture and consider Cthulhu not inspired by anything! How did H.P. Love craft do it? Even the great race has such a simple design with it just being a sphere with a worm body with 3 tentacles and a claw at the end of the tail with three spikes on their heads, that being a such simple design it still looks so good! Maybe it’s just the way they draw it or the way the creatures fit so well with the theme of the book or background.

Possibly the most wrong idea Lovecraft ever espoused was the notion of a peaceful dark age.

Cthulhu waited millions, maybe billions of years to awaken from his slumber. And then a small boat crew rams into him and his sinking city recaptures him to his prison.

This may be an odd question and may even simply get lost. But i have some interest in getting started on recording audiobooks myself. I was wondering ir maybe you had any advice on the practical aspects like tracking down books that can be recorded and published

Listening to this at 0.75 speed and it’s about right. Perhaps a tad too slow, but full speed is way too fast for me personally.

Not sure if you've re-visited this one yet, but if not then I beg of you to do so, because your audiobook presentation has improved a lot in the past 6 years!
One other, less pertinent suggestion I'd like to give is to PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY REMOVE THE AUDIO WAVE EFFECT FROM YOUR VIDS! It serves little purpose aside from potential screen burn.
Anyway I love you please have my man baby.

Hi, brilliant reading. Your tone really suits the material. However, just a quick note: the city 'Dunedin' in New Zealand is pronounced 'Duh-nee-dun' not 'Doo-na-din'. Just thought I'd point that out!

I enjoyed this a lot, though as a lifelong resident of Dunedin (raised in the inland hill suburbs where the cult holds its rituals) I feel obligated to observe that you mispronounced the toponym. The accent in "Dunedin" is on the second syllable, not the first, so it rhymes (sort of) with the phrase "run bleedin'." That's a small nit to pick, however; I really do enjoy these Lovecraft readings.
