I've had LEMS for 4+ years and this is by far the most in depth discussion of it I've found.

You are an awesome teacher. You make the topics so easy and sometimes i feel like you go into my head and attend to the confusions i have. Thanks a lot.

As a patient with mg...positive AChR and right leg weakness, wanted to let you know couple of things. The facial and she weakness is not ALWAYS present, it comes and goes. My eye slowly closes by itself, at any time with no reason. It will stay closed for 15 seconds to 2 minutes, then slowly open. I can't make it happen and the fact that it's not visible when I see a doc or at ER doesn't mean it doesn't happen. My muscle weakness is more in my legs and arms, it is worse in the after or evening and much worse when I've been active. Facial weakness, apart from my eye, is not really bothersome apart from the grumpy face I've developed. Sometimes I don't my words and have trouble eating or swallowing but remember this doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I can't walk one more step...I start out to walk somewhere and suddenly I literally can't take another step of raise my arms, it progresses to whole body weakness where I have to test immediately. I have had an mg crisis, had trouble breathing, taking a deep breath and couldn't hold my head up, it developed a tremor as I held it at an angle because I couldn't hold it up. Local ER didn't know how to treat the crisis so was kept in with 'breathing problems'. Also have peripheral neuropathy and fibromyalgia. Just first hand info for you.

Nice review of the diseases, however, there are more differences between MG and LEMS than noted in this course. Also need to update the current treatments such as the drug approved in late 2018 for LEMS (amifampridine).

My mother had this Fraser’s back in the 80s. It took a long time to diagnose it. Very rare deasese, beside her, I only knew of Aristotle Oanasis!!!

Why is constipation one of the first signs of botulism in infants and in adults we should take into account a history of diarrhea?
