    My NDE resulted after choking on Fish and after not breathing for over a minute, I knew I was running out of time before I blacked out and so I accepted my death . In a panic I “asked my deceased dog to witness my death” and in my mind’s eye, I could see her and we were mutually joyful at our meeting but she confidently insisted I continue to “TRY”.
    I suddenly grabbed a pitcher of water and poured it down into my throat which quickly caused me to vomit and I inhaled deeply. I was resigned to die but it was the helpful intervention of my dog that saved my life!

    I recall my death experience vividly. I didn't have emotions as the good doctor discovered in his research, I experienced overwhelming absolute sensations of peace, confidence, euphoria, and the realization that I had no more sickness and no more insecurities. I did see my body on the floor of the Jail and the guards all around me. When I came back I had an emotion of extreme anger. This happened in 1985ish I experienced to one of the guards what I experienced, he dismissed it as a hallucination.

    I find it particularly convincing when it is the medical professionals who are reporting their experiences with patients who have had NDEs. It's one thing to hear a "supernatural" story from an NDE patient (which I also find compelling). But when patients come into the hospital comatose, and later tell the doctors and nurses things they shouldn't know (because they were comatose at the time), it's hard not to believe that consciousness is non-local (unless you're a materialist dogmatist).

    • @sheenaalexis8710
      @sheenaalexis8710 4 года назад +3

      Exactly. They completely ignore the evidence. It's the only way their arguments hold up.

    • @KillerEggFromOuterSpace
      @KillerEggFromOuterSpace 3 года назад +10

      @@sheenaalexis8710 I had a discussion with someone with such views and he was relentless and close minded about it. He referred to them as hallucinations the entire time even tho I disproved that (oxygen deprivation would not produce the lucid effects & there isn't enough DMT in the body to do this either, nor would the spike right before death). He wanted to dismiss the subject as a waste of time but also says to be about science & facts (which this is a branch of science & a phenomenon that should be studied, not dismissed). His reasoning was that 90% don't have one so the 10% are just crazy (which 10% of that population is still in the hundreds of thousands. And just because it's not reported by everyone, doesn't mean it's not still reported and has actually scientific facets too it. Same thing with psychology as only 10% experience GAD, but it absolutely does exist & shouldn't be dismissed!)
      For people of "science & facts" they sure don't want to explore the ideas of new science

    • @penciltreeofficial4219
      @penciltreeofficial4219 2 года назад

      @@KillerEggFromOuterSpace wait, you mean to tell me that 90% of population don't have these kind of experiences after dying and going back, and that just 10% has them? I though it was the other way around. O.O That is a pretty solid argument your friend got there, then. I was a very spiritual person and still want to be, but facts speak louder than spirituality in my mind. I just don't wanna die and disappear. :(

    • @gjorgin
      @gjorgin 2 года назад

      @@KillerEggFromOuterSpace i think precentage is higher, like 30%, but those who dont have ndes, maybe they cant remember it (as it happens with dreams, not all people can remember them, but we all do have dreams).
      Materialists would always insist on scientific research, peer reviewed articles, statistical evidence, but when they are presented the veridical oobes, they stay close minded and dismiss them. Maybe from the auditory sensors, one can make obe hallucination, but hearing conversations from other rooms, or seeing clothes and faces of medics and other details they couldnt have seen because of closed eyes... you cannot set aside.
      Also, there are many cases of ndes and obes that are not in hospitals. I had a friend who drowned, and he had an obe. He described every detail of his saviours, the cpr, how he was dragged to the beach, the conversation, the other spectators etc which was later verified by the people. Of course, doctors didnt believe his story

      Dear❤.We are Eternal Spiritual beings going through a temporary human experience to understand the importance of LOVE. It is Us who choosed to have the Human experiences . But we are part and parcel of the Source,we are the Source😊. But we ourselves create this illusion that we are separate from the Source and that gives rise to an individual false Ego and we Come to this material world. But because we are the LOVE, we always wants Love and inherently search for Love and peace in the world. Search for peace becomes the driving force to keep going in the world.But after many many births we realised that We can be Peaceful by ending this illusion and returning to our original Identity and become part of the infinitely loving SOURCE. It's like a drop of water separated from the Ocean and finally meet the Ocean and become the Ocean. Though I explained to you so easily but believe me It has much more deeper meanings. No NDE, but the OBE experience is still (I am 75 now) clear in my memory in every respect. And after my 2nd death, in spite of having no NDE gave me something amazing experience or property or God knows what, that i had a razor sharp mind for about week. I wish I could have it still...

    I have listened to a number of Eben's talks and interviews on RUclips and his story is quite compelling. It's amazing how even a strict materialist skeptic will open up to the idea of a "universal conscious underpinning" to this physical matter reality frame - if the awakening experience is powerful enough. My own awakening has been more subtle than Dr. Alexander's, but I am pretty well convinced there is a larger conscious force at work in our lives, which we are each a part of. Take care.

    • @iammine38
      @iammine38 4 года назад +1

      This is more relevant today than ever. We should open up and join our positive consciousnesses to contribute to the greater underlying force - strengthen the good force, because obviously evil forces are at work as well.

    If you still meet Pim in Amsterdam?
    In minute 30 and in the end of this good intervju Pim talks about our body as we "know it". If you meet him again, tell him that our body is just a perceived image, I think that will help him in some parts of his explanations. What we perceive as the reality is not the reel reality, so when he talks about our body as a "physical body/thing", he talks about the "known body".
    Thank you for this "strong" and true intervju.
    Thomas

    I love Pim’s interviews and his book. Towards the end of the interview he makes a comment about not fearing death, which makes sense on one level, but if you have a loved one who is very ill it is hard to maintain this attitude as one would do absolutely anything to save them. Probably more than one would do to save oneself.

      You have raised an interesting point. When someone dies, we often hear it's harder for the ones they leave behind. When people have not had a NDE, it's normal for people to fear death. As a dying person going through NDE, it seems they don't want to come back to this life, almost like there is an instant switch and being actually disappointed to come back to the body. The best evidence is the verifiable aspects of an out of body experience. Where someone sees accurate details outside the room of their own body and it is real. My question though is, if the brain doesn't function and consciousness is fundamental in the universe, why doesn't everyone accept this new evidence? Like doctors, psychologists and neuroscience? If the brain really didn't function and you can prove this, why doesn't the whole world know about this ??

  • @jack41401

    Pam had an embolism at the base of her brain that would have killed her if not operated on. She was purposely brought to the point of death in order to remove the embolism. The fact that she was fully monitored makes her case one of the most compelling.

    Rupert Sheldrake has some real interesting ideas about consciousness, where it is seated, and how it has nothing to do with the actual brain........

  • @guts5379
    @guts5379 5 лет назад +5

    DMT can also give you a NDE like experience without almost dying. I had an experience where it felt like my consciousness was traveling at the speed of light and receiving all sorts of data and communications. I entered a weird hallway with a garden courtyard. when I got there I started seeing these singular eyes started popping up out of no where one by one and they were intently looking at me. They felt alive and conscious, these eyes. I believe DMT affects the conscious connection with our brain and can somehow cut off the connection to our bodies temporarily. Some say its simulating death which is consciousness being detached from the body and going to a certain place that you end up when you die.

    • @Ellielaaap

      The difference is you were alive, your brain was functioning, you had a blood pressure and that's how it explains you had hallucinations. People who had cardiac arrest, had no blood pressure, no neurological reflexes, no brain activity and still had nde. How is it possible then? To produce hallucinations you at least need a blood circulation to make your brain work - simple logic?

    • @razony
      @razony 3 года назад

      DMT validates the NDE's in this way. Like the OBE, one can part/leave their body while still alive. This can be achieved by mediation Going inward vs. outward. (praying)

  • @TheseEyesGod
    @TheseEyesGod 11 лет назад +3

    Thanks for piping up, Rebecka. I, too, find the comparatively few hell experiences in NDEs to be largely self-created. Heck, we create our life experience in the body, as well, just without being aware of it.
    Yet the interesting part is that believing comes BEFORE seeing. So until we make room for such ideas & shift our beliefs, it doesn't seem to make sense to us. So there's no convincing someone else - they have to that that, themselves.
    It's a happier way to live, tho, for sure.

    All NDE's turn positive if they last long enough. When Howard Storm called out to the Light, the Light appeared. In the Tibetan Book of the Dead the book is read to the departed spirit. The monk reading the books tells the newly departed spirit, "do not be afraid of the demons you encounter because they only projections from your own mind." It is our own demons that we must do battle with and conquer. At the point when we call out to God, the Light appears.

    I have listened to some shorter clips of Peter Russell, but not this long version. I'll definitely check it out.
    After you begin to wake up, it's quite astounding how your priorities change. What used to be so important - like getting more "stuff" in this material world, or trying to feed our shallow ego's by winning an argument - slowly loses it's pull on us until we barely even notice it any more. And now the only thing I see as fundamental (real) is the consciousness within each individual.

      The most interesting thing about the recent NDE surge is something the furthers their legitimacy and brings down one major skepticism. There's a large population that don't experience an NDE (or simply doesn't remember the same way we hardly remember dreams from REM Sleep despite knowing REM Sleep does occur nightly), but there's still a population that does and we don't know why nor have a way to explain any of their validated claims of objective knowledge that they shouldn't have been able to make let alone accurately.
      Something I like to think about is how psychology is a field of science for something both subjective & objective. Mental Disorders have existed forever it's only now that we can measure & scientifically record such cases. Only 10% have GAD, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist/doesn't happen. NDEs do happen and it'll be fascinating to see how much farther the research goes. Evidence has only grown since this interview.

    I have few questions.
    (1) Could it be that it is our mind (brain) that is playing a trick on us during the NDE episode ?
    (2) Are they any cases of people who are not the religious type of people and yet there still see the life review during NDE ?
    (3) What about other species like dog and cat ? Will they have NDE too. Or has any NDEs greeted by their dead pets on the other side ?

      1. there are lots of experiences that have had objective outputs, such as seeing doctors and nurses when you are outside your body, and describe exactly what they have done or what even they have thought! when you are scientifically dead!
      2. yes a lot. as far as I know there is no correlation between being religious or atheist to have these NDE's(pim van lommel said, and it was part of his research) or having life review.
      3. We don't know! because they don't talk with us! but there are lots of people who have seen their pets during NDE experience. because in that side there is no word, and it is just thoughts that transfer directly between beings, when someone meets with his or her pet during NDE, it is like seeing their relatives! because now they can speak emotionally(not by words).

    • @razony
      @razony 3 года назад

      1) I think NO! The veridical NDE removes that doubt. A third party that can collaborate the NDE.
      2) Anybody can have an NDE regardless of religion or faith.
      3) Pets? I would say yes, but not much data that they do.

    He spends quite a lot of time talking about consciousness changing the brain, claiming that this is not possible in a 'consciousness as product of brain' (CAPOB) model (Sumerised at 41:26).
    I don't want to argue for or against different models here, just to point out that brain changes in response to external events and in sympathy with conscious experience, far from being inconsistent with the CAPOB model, is actually its most basic prerequisite. In this model the fact that you can see the black lines that make up the letters of this sentance or remember having breakfast this morning is a result of physical changes to your brain. So it is unsurprising that brain structure and function change after learning, meditation practice or significant experience. In fact in the CAPOB model that is what learning, experience and memory is.

    There are many pairs of organs in the body, including the two lobes of the brain. This is the best explanation I have heard of receiving from consciousness on the one hand, and sending back our physical memory. Personally, I believe one pathway to understanding this is that the physical memory from the brain of sensory things goes into each cell which then comes out through the body in pores and so forth but has become encoded in our DNA. At this time, I am examining the idea that we come and return to our DNA but there is a more vast field where we can receive vibes beyond our DNA

    "Connected with everything and everybody" -- doesn't that smack of quantum theory? Being a sceptic and materialist, the first question that comes to mind is whether there is any empirical evidence that NDE is a recollection of events PRECEDING cardiac arrest rather than AFTER it. Whatever the answer, this is a fascinating video.

    • @alanharoldson9903

      The well-known skeptic Susan Blackmore was quoted in Gideon Lichfield's Atlantic article as admitting one thing about NDE - that science can explain the various events patients report but not the fact that the events occur in a particular order. Frankly, I was disappointed that van Lommel, who has done important research, mentioned quantum in his book, because so many people treat it as proof of the spirit world. In his history of science, The Ascent of Man, mathematician Jacob Bronowski is emphatic about the relationship between dogma and intolerance. It's sad that some people are dogmatic about their mystical ideas of quantum physics. On the other hand, quantum makes you think about what it's all about, what matter and mind are, much like Zeno's Paradox and Plato's Cave. I'll mention these things, not trying to prove anything, but in response to people who say the spiritual idea is absurd. Are you sure it is?

      As a "open minded skeptic" ...I understand your point. I can only point to his book, where he commits several chapter to quantum physics & neurology. Van Lommel however , Gives & even contemplates detailed other alternatives on" consciousness & the brain" etc. , This" non rigid" attitude won me over..( sorry for the dodgy grammar, i can't find my glasses...ahum...

      William James said that if you want to disprove the idea that all crows are black, all you have to do is find a single white crow. It may be that the best way to present a convincing case is to focus on the best study. I have searched all over the Internet and I haven't found a skeptic who has seriously attempted to refute the 1997 study by Ring and Cooper (book Mindsight). People blind from birth not only say that they saw for the first time during their NDEs but that they recognized what they saw. People who acquire sight surgically do not, and need training to recognize everything. If so much as one person interviewed by Ring had an out-of-body experience, OBE is real.

    Scientists are rarely religious and therefore are reluctant to accept that we all have a sole. It is our sole that holds consciousness and therefore the reason that when we die we move to heaven where we can recognize our relatives etc and remember our past ! This is also the reason that when people have a near death experience they rarely want to return to their earthly bodies. Our sole never dies !

    Beautiful comment - open mind, yet with a healthy skepticism. I respect that. Perhaps the best story of all that fits your criteria of being from those in the medical profession is that of Eben Alexander, another heart surgeon - only he had the NDE himself. He was also a life-long skeptic about all of this. Since the outer layer of his brain was completely destroyed, there was no possible way it was brain generated. He wrote Proof of Heaven. "The technological societies of the planet (pg. 67) have little experience with what true love really is. Fed a diet of sexual based unfulfilling relationships as love, it is no surprise that family life has reached a disastrous level for so many. Every negative aspect is paraded as the norm. Just as each individual is a human becoming, so also each relationship and family is a entity becoming, formed by the combination focus of the 2 or more included within it. With no agreed upon ideal purpose and few of the character traits necessary to carry each through the experience, the only answer seems to be the experience of a stream of beginnings and endings.
    In contrast, those who have had what is called near death experiences return to their conscious realities with regret for having to return and an overwhelming experience of what they term love. These were experiences of the energies that emanate through the creative focus that maintains and expands this galaxy. It is, when analyzed, if that is even possible, the action of the universal laws to their full extent: attraction, intention and allowance resulting in the harmony of balance. This focus is supported by an even greater focus of these laws in action. It is the added presence of harmony that seems so intensely pleasant in those brief experiences."
    Book 2 ref, myfocusofpurpose.org
    People who have had near death experiences talk about life reviews, how they see what they did to others in the eyes of who they did it to. Imagine the life review of a huge terrorist who signs off on thousands and thousands of deaths via terror drone attacks. Could be literally millions of years life review for such evil ones. Who they killed and wounded and how it effected all, and I mean ALL the relatives and friends, and for how many years and years and years per each person. - is this really how it is?
    Ask the people who have had those near death experiences. I'm not one of them. Danion Brinkley is one who has had 4 near death experiences. Brinkley was a low level mercenary, and he describes that each time he had to go through the life review, and he describes it as "I had to go through the wwwhhhhoooooolllleeee thing". The whole thing, and Brinkley was just a low level hit man. What about the big terrorists who sign off on killing 25 innocent people in order to kill 1 guy they say is a terrorist? No trial by jury. Nothing. So what's this guy who signs off on drone attacks every day, what's his life review? Millions of years? Millions of years of the hell he did to others, all the pain he did to them through their experience of it?
