Hi ! I'm nitx, the guy from the soundcloud, you actually missed the first C at 00:38 which is an octave lower, but that's actually great to hear it on a SH-101 ! You could also work on the portamento to get a little more glissando ;) Keep up the good work !
I could watch you play around with just the intro of this song for like 30 minutes! Nice stuff 👌 be amazing if there was like a 10 minute version of this video 🙏 and the way you start remixing towards the end of the video at 1:53 = so sick ❄️ Need a 10 minute video of this now lol
Haha cheers mate. Yeah, I played with the sequence for quite some time. Was so happy to finally have made it. I thought posting a 30 minutes long filter tweakage would be a bit overkill ;)
Amazing work man, been trying to replicate the sound on the Roland Cloud VST simulation of the 101 but there’s just something missing in the filter resonance that makes the hardware such an incredible piece of gear
So many of the videos get this sequence wrong, thank fucking god you exist. Key follow on the VCF needs to be cranked to get those high notes brighter than the rest!
Since you seem interested about mistakes: these two high notes in the sequence, you play the same note but in the original song they’re two different notes.
How did Squarepusher originally even create this... was it luck? If I try to recreate this without watching this video - I can't do it, I always get screwed up with the timing and notes. Can't tell if just serendipitous or intentional...
I'd say its a 101. Early Squarepusher interview in his studio, he has a 101 and 303, but there is no 202 on this video. (Sqaurepusher on LolaDaMusica part 1) I'll try and make this melody on the 202, see if i can get it to sound the same!
Hold is a sequencer function to tie notes together to make a longer one. Another function is a rest, to insert a rest (an empty/silent step) into the sequence. Have a look at this vid: ruclips.net/video/4Sq5XYSFblg/видео.html
Such a great job, man. Just how he came up with a melody like that to begin with eludes me, but Mr. Pusher is quite the enigma
By far the best/closest version I've seen. Thanks for sharing
WHO GAVE THIS A THUMBS DOWN?! SHOW YOURSELF!
This made my day :D
4 months later and the turd still hasn't shown up to claim their 'reward.'

Chills, hats off to you Sir. Amazing work indeed.
“Ohhhh an sh 101 in my cab, heheheh wait till I tell Eddie” - Ernest (escape from New York)
The most accurate one I've seen so far.
Easily the best cover of this I've ever heard.
Yessss.

Wow, its allready 7 years ago I've recorded this. Nice you found it. I'll see if I can improve on this version, thanks for the tip 👍
@@Dsil303 Yes I know but I've never seen this video, time goes by so fast !
And then the kick and drum kicks in.... Yeasss

SH 101 for life!
Splendid!
Nice job! Now since you've got the SH 101, please do the "Welcome to Europe" lead, also by Squarepusher, from the album Hello Everything :-D
Who knows, its not on my shortlist to do though ;)
very thank's!!! i love squarepusher! ☺☺☺
very cool ! love how it sounds
Awesome
amazing work!

Indeed, the 101 is really a magical piece of gear. It's just one giant sweetspot. Love it to death!
bravo !!

Cheers dude! Indeed, those high notes are not correct although i'm not sure crankin the filter KYBD will solve it :)
Nailed it!
very cool ! well done
Sounds like Thomas Dolby/ Paul hardcastle type of sound
spot on!
;)
Dsil303, how much did you pay for your 101?
400€
so 677 canadian dollars? nice, you got a good deal then. i paid just under 2000 canadian for mine boxed.
wow thats quite a hefty price!! Mine was a bargain indeed, it had a few broken sliders though, so i had to fix it first...

I wonder if he was influenced by the theme tune to Sorry , sounds similar.
Fucking Beautiful!
Volltreffer! Klingt wie das orginal 🤘
What reverb were you using?
Jayo Caine I used the plate reverb on my Yamaha Aw4416

yeah the second high note is another octave higher
@@Joshonthenet How do you add a reverb on a hardware synth if its used without a daw?

is it possible to do it in the 303? (behringer td 3 mo)
Duuudee. That's awesome. What keyboard is that?
It's amazing how this video has managed to attract so many people who are neither Jenkinson fans, nor particularly in the know about Synthesis.

what the name of the machine synth use please?
lol it's a Roland SH-101 ;)
Whats the reverb unit you're using?
It's the plate reverb on the Yamaha aw4416

101..i've played the actual one in the interview vid
It will sound the same... ceteris paribus. Same guts√
You have 101 *AND* 202?! Warren Buffett confirmed! :P
0e0 are you actually tom jenkinson? if you are, just know that whooski is the one of my really fave songs with 303 and 101 in it. respect.
@@Dsil303 is it possible to do it in the 303? (behringer td 3 mo)
Come on , make an effort ;) nice.
What is he doing in the beginning when he is playing notes on the piano?
Uuuuh, playing notes and entering holds?
what is a hold?

Dsil303 thank you for the reply! That video was very interesting
He was programming the notes, ties and rests into the sequencer
Awesome
