I loved what genna Lannister said about Tywin. Tytos was a great fool, and sensing his weakness, walder frey offered a marriage alliance between his only daughter Genna Lannister and his second son emmon frey, not even his heir. Tytos agreed like the idiot he was, and when the betrothal was announced at a feast, there was nervous silence, and lady ellyn tarbeck laughed out loud. Until a ten year old little tywin stood up and objected loudly. Tytos's face went pale like curdled milk, and walder frey couldn't speak
"How could I not love him, after that? That is not to say that I approved of all he did, or much enjoyed the company of the man that he became... but every little girl needs a big brother to protect her. Tywin was big even when he was little.” She gave a sigh. “Who will protect us now?”
Genna is such an underrated character. She spoke her mind always even to Tywin. Her and Tywin had similar strong wills yet she was more clear headed like when she told Tywin Tyrion is truly his son more than Jaime and Cersei Tyrion is Tywin in so many ways only I truly believe Tyrion is a better strategist and Tywin just usually brutal tactics to force his enemies to submit or just destroy them while Tyrion, before his trial, wasn’t so jaded and ruthless, yet still ruthless enough to get things done
@@markanthony1004it probably have a deeper meaning, since Genna it's also an older cousin to Joanna, Joanna probably revealed something to Genna than no one else could know especially Tywin, like the true parenting of Jaime and Cersei
@@markanthony1004people like to assume Tywin is a military man when he’s more of a acclaimed steward
@@mrscaryfox3955YEP! And Robb Stark proved that! 😄
How ironic, Walder Frey always angry with every lord who mock him and don't take house Frey serious but when he has the chance of forming an alliance with the Lannisters, of all people, he decide to insult them sending a secondary son.
Being motivated to be a competent but vindictive leader cus of daddy issues? Tyrion really is Tywin writ small.
I'm kinda tired of how nobody seems to think for a moment and everybody parrots this perception of Tywin as a capable leader.
Tywin was incompetent. Name me one smart decision of his.
For Tywin it was indirect incompetent behavior from his father for Tyrion it was hatred and disgust by Tywin and the trail of Joffrey murder
@@KROGANLovesKittensAndPuppies And which concrete examples have we been given of his decision making and influence in that era?
The Duskendale Defiance? The fact that he had apparently - needlessly in the end ! - shared "Plan B" to attack the keep anyway with Aerys still inside as a hostage, in case the liberation effort had gone south, ultimately proved to be catastrophic. It lead an already kinda distrusting king to become utterly paranoid, even towards his hand. The books clearly confirm this instance as a crucial turning point in Aerys' decent into madness....
Besides the aforementioned, we've never really heard about any 'great challenges' for Tywin during his first reign as Hand.
His entourage (Ilyn Payne, cough.... Pycelle....) seems to have done quite the PR for him though.
Tywin was a "one-trick-pony" who just "smashes" rebellion while having the backing of a stronger military force whilst constantly trying to give himself the reputation of "stern" and "strict" in times of peace.
If he had had the idea himself to use the Westerlings to cause a rift between Robb Stark and the Freys, then I do commend him for that. But this gets overshadowed by how poorly he ended the aftermath. Had Tywin not passed by the hand of Tyrion, his legacy would have inevitably become that of "the hand who lost the North" for the Iron Throne for many generations to come.... Now he will probably escape the blame, just like how his reputation escaped a likely succesfull Dornish rebellion due to Doran's overly cautious nature.
@@Simon-A.-Tan repealing the laws of Aegon V protecting the peasantry fostered positive relations between the crown and nobility. His handling of the defiance at Duskendale could’ve been better, but had Aerys been killed the realm would’ve wound up in a much better position.
He’s a monster and he makes a lot of stupid decisions motivated primarily by his inferiority complex and ego, but for the most part he knew what he was doing.
@@thedemonhater7748 This is a tricky one, since nobody knows what those 'laws' were about, but it's safe to say that this was a rather 'logical' decision for someone with Tywin's indifference to the smallfolk. Not really a 'brilliant move', but rather a cheatcode handed to him on a silver platter by the late Aegon.
As for Aerys dying: my point is that plan B never needed to be known since the rescue operation had succeeded. A scenario in which Aerys was saved, though rendered even more paranoid by finding out about it, was the worst possible outcome.
Tywin never seemed to view other people as agents with their own wants, needs and desires. Instead just treating them like pawns on a board of cyvasse. This led to him making terrible decisions during Robert's Rebellion, the War of the Five Kings.... and likely also as Aerys' hand, when he was seemingly sheltered by the aura of the crown.
This is the worst way to play the game. If people with less protections, like Varys or Littlefinger, would go about things without any consideration of the motives and personalities of others, they'd have their heads on a spike on the first day.
Ah yes a short about Tywin's Daddy issues.

Cersei as a girl even saw the woman's humiliation herself and sneered at the way she helplessly cried and tried to cover her body with her hands. Shaking her head at how all embarrassed naked women tend to come up with one arm short and should just try to own the situation confidently. She told herself she herself would never do the same...but in her actual situation she ultimately broke. Even dropped to all fours and tried crawling away close to the ground so the people in the back of the crowd wouldn't see her, tragically and not realizing in her panic she was actually crawling up a hill giving the whole crowd a great glimpse at her full moon and more.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer woman
Tywin may look how cruel, but mostly, he HAD to be. After his father, western houses learnt that their masters are doing nothing to control them. Tywin grew up as someone who wasn’t respected by anyone because of his father and humiliation that he brought upon whole lannister house. Lannisters became a joke for their vassals. For whole Westeros.
He had to be cruel. He had to show them, that lions still have teeth. Many present lords of West remember Tytos and his rule. They remember how free they were at that days. I do not doubt many of them want that freedom again. And Tywin is only thing that held them back, doubt Kevan changed lannister policies after his brother's death.
Tywin and his brothers were respected though for their role in a number of wars. Each of them proving themselves and having build up a solid reputation among many lords.
I doubt many would assume Tytos's policies would not die with him.
It explains Tywin's actions during his fathers rule, not those after. That was simply cruelty in part.
@@Wimpiethe3 It does tho: It shows what happens when you show weakness and leniency at any point - death and humiliation.
Ned faced it, Robert warned about it (fear and blood), Aerys trusted Tywin, tommen with the faithful, Deanarys also struggled with the balance, and many more.
@@warallied There is a difference between cruelty and strenght.
Compare Tywin and Stannis. Would anyone consider Stannis weak? He has some of the most loyal troops.
So many enemies are made by Tywin due to unnecessary actions, both within his family as with other houses. Cruelty is weakness. He just doesn't comprehend that.
I would say Tywin isnt unecessarily cruel tough,he doesnt kill everyone just for slight wrongs,he is cruel for personal reasons or when he really has to achieve some objective, unlike someone like Joffrey who is cruel all the time for his own pleasure.
@@Wimpiethe3 My point was more about the necessity of his position and the consequences of not doing that in the game of thrones.
Altho tywin made *some* mistakes (like playing down Deanarys) He played the game of thrones well.
The popular meaning of cruelty is taking pleasure in it while Tywin is simply an radical pragmatist. All his action made him the true power of Westeros from the ashes under Tytos.
Stannis is not a great exemple of the alternative. While he was the true heir, he simply replaces Tywin's dynastycal obsessive pragmatism with his own destiny/duty pragmatism.
Thats why he killed Renly, agreed to kill Eric even if somewhat, he implies he could execute Jon for quarreling with him, he is brutal with executions, Wants to kill Theon for political purposes, needed even a pep talk to recruit troops when his attitude is : im owed this crap.
The point was that you need to be ruthless, pragmatic in this medieval world. Thats all the world understand. Thats in part proven with the exemples ive given in my previous response. Joffrey and Ramsay were idiots. tywin was not. Strenght is a tool but being decisive and ruthless isnt its opposite. Its a game of manipulation, plots, lies, schemes and power.
Lord Tywin opens his mouth to say two sentences about how he had to build House Lannister from mockery and humiliation to the towering beacon of strength the whole world thinks three times before dealing with and my knee-jerk reaction is “oh yea, all is forgiven. Tywin is a completely understandable human being”
But seeing Tyrion bolt him to the shitter with his shite of a grandson’s own crossbow was sooo satisfyingly beautiful.
He’s still an understandable human being.

It wasn't Tywin's father that made him as he was. It was the game that Tytos didn't play.
TBF to Tytos he was the 3rd son and was never prepared to be lord.
Would have been interesting if we found out that The High Sparrow was a bastard from the affair with the mistress and he got his revenge for his mother’s humiliation on Cersi.
That's actually proven to be true
@@keltongonzales8514where?
@@keltongonzales8514 when was it proven, I never heard it. Interesting idea. Where did you hear it was true?
Impossible, the high sparrow I'd older than tywin
Tywin was 15 or 16 or 17 when his father went into decline and he gradually took over. Not sure when he started to see his mistress. Not sure when this child would have been born. I think I remember she was a merchant's daughter. The High Sparrow was an interesting character. He tells various stories about himself but they seen to be contradictory and not sure what is true. Some think he is a scialist. Not sure at that time if people would even know what that is. He was definitely a revolutionary and he wanted to bring down the nobility. It was ironic that Cersei saw an old guy in a dirty robe with no shoes and thought she could use him and his followers for her own agenda. Olenna had one conversion with him and immediately knew how dangerous this guy was.
Tywin essentially becomes Daniel Plainview, "I have a competition in me, i don't want anyone else to succeed; I look at people and I see nothing worth liking."
A man who sees the good in everyone won't do well in the GOT universe.
His father was too kind and eager to please Tywin merely should have spoke to his father and showed him what his weakness wrought.
He did. Several times. Tytos just smiles or laughs and tells him to let it be and that there's no real harm done.

Ser jamie you should have ruled casterly rock it's your birthright but you made one good choice by not marring lysa tully

Society did. Tytos was mocked and humiliated because of his good nature.
You see the same thing with aneys and Maegor where a weak willed man comes into power and threatens to destroy their house and destabilize the kingdom . The world of ice and fire is based off feudal Europe where weak rulers did destroy ruling families , kingdoms and even empires see the collapse of the Byzantine empire were decades of misrule led to its destruction despite being over a thousand years old
Should be noted that 'helped herself to my mothers jewels' is the interpretation of a bitter stepchild. Quite likely Tytos gifted those jewels to her, and they were his to give. We've been presented no evidence that this woman did anything wrong besides having a relationship 'above her station'. Not something that would be easy to refuse either, mind you. Tywin's humiliation of her, when she was likely still grieving for Tytos, was absurdly cruel.
Except they are mementos of the dudes mom just the same.
Bitter stepchild? Are you a cruel Stepmom?
I feel like since Tywin is the winner of the Reyne Rebellion he probably had history written to appear that Tytos was weaker than he actually was and that the Reynes were bigger assholes than they were to justify his actions (and intimidate) to their bannermen and the rest of the seven kingdoms. It wouldn't be the first time he did revisionist history since he does this in the current series with Stannis and Ned Stark.
That’s a good thought, but I’m not sure Tywin would do that to his own family, regardless of his personal feelings towards them. The part about House Reyne is certainly possible though. I just don’t think he would ever talk down another Lannister to others.
I'm genuinely embarrassed that I hadn't thought of that myself.
@@rcc_96not only that it’s recent history. He would need permission from the crown to do what he did.
@@kahlilg9824 Exactly why exaggerating the story fits Tywin since it helps justify his actions to the crown helping him avoid any sort of punishment.
Speaking of revisionist history, you know what my theory is? That Tywin killed his father with a cross bow (similar to the one Tyrion used on him) just to stop his father embarrassing him and the Lannister name. Then made Maesters claim that Tytos died of a heart attack climbing the stairs. Then he declared that “Although the Gods are great and all….they do not have Last name Lannister”.
To punish him for it, the Gods created Tyrion to “make him feel small”. And who eventually ended up killing his father the same weapon Tywin used on his father.
Anyways, subscribe for more.
If you didn't already, could you make a video about Kevan Lannister?
‘The laughing Lion’ not to be confused with ‘The Laughing Storm’ who was a beast
My biggest problem with Tywin’s backstory is that his family should have been easily overthrown during his father’s time, especially since so many are looking to seize power.
The poor girl was probably given these clothes and jewels by Tywin’s father. Tywin likes to bully those weaker than him, if the mistress was a Targ or a Stark he wouldn’t dare make her walk naked.
Indeed, I’m remembering what he did to that girl Tyrion married. Tysha. Had her gang r*ped because his son dared to be happy.
Those jewellery belonged to lady jeyne marbrand, tytos's beloved wife. You think he would give his beloved late wife's jewels to a mistress? 🙄 That girl was a thief on top of being a wh*re, arrogant and vapid as people from casterly rock had described her to be. She had it coming
If the woman was a Targ or a Stark, tywin's father would have remarried and the problem would not have been there in the 1st place.
What's the problem with native English speakers and contractions? Why can't they just write Targaryen? just 5 more letters. Does this also happen in daily routine or is it just a matter of laziness when writing on the internet?

Not only that whenever his dad died two of his Bannerman and their houses tried to start an open rebellion when Tywin told them they needed to pay their money back and come bend the knee and swear fealty again, and when they told him, no, he raised up the rest of his Bannerman to go kill them, and one of them hid in there mines and Tywin had a river diverted and flooded the mine drowning the whole entire house. @@Adolphification no not by any measurement. You’re judging people through a soft modern lens whereas Tywin is based on a medieval lord so you should judge him as such. Vlad the Impaler by modern sensibilities could be as classed as evil but even then he is still considered a national hero in Romania. The only person Tywin is spiteful outright to is Tyrion but the things outside of that like the Red Wedding is summed up neatly “why is it more noble to kill thousands in war than a few hundred at dinner” ending the war early he defended his house, saved thousands from continued bloodshed and pushes forward the realms preparation for winter.
@Farron6 He still forced his teenaged son to watch his young wife gang-raped, and made him believe the girl, who honestly loved him, was a prostitute paid to pretend she cared about him. That was evil. He could have just forced her to leave the city and paid her to do it. What he did do was unbelievably cruel.
I’d pay to see a Tywin origin story like his back story and such would be so good with the right actors
So Tywin learned to be cruel from the people his father didn't protect him from. Makes sense. Very logical and believable origin (like, no sarcasm).

Tytos Lannister’s character surprised me. I think George could have easily chosen the “hatred breeds hatred” when developing Tywin and given him a father who was equally rigid and tough on him. But instead we got the weak-willed warden of the west whose failures Tywin witnessed first hand. The effects Tytos had on that kingdom made Tywin resolute in his mission for prosperity and respect.
It’s a really profound and unapologetic look at what negative effects men without backbone can bring into the world and into their families.
Bullshit, Tywin is just the other extreme and far worse than his father.
@@quronmccovery881 I never said he wasn’t. I was just pointing out the causality.
Our parents shape us
If we forget about Cercei and Tywin, the Lannisters are mostly a very caring family. All of Tywin's siblings were kind to Tyrion. While at the same time they know how awful Cercei is and most see her as the black sheep of the family, and not Tyrion (even the Lannister bastard, Joy, is treated with respect). When we hear about the rest of the Lannister family, they are mostly compassionate people who don't fear Tywin. Though Tywin's siblings love and respect their eldest brother, they all say they're unhappy with how ruthless he became. They speak of Tywin like he's someone who used to laugh and play with his siblings, but was also very protective and looked after them like any decent big brother would. I think Tywin became ruthless because he genuinely loved his family, and not because of pride or greed or lust for power. I think Tywin was a good and decent child who grew up in a very loving family. At first, he probably loved and respected his father for being kind and generous. But then he saw how others took advantage of the people he loved due to his father's kindness. And Tywin, out of love, became more and more ruthless to protect the people he loved. Unfortunately, building the foundation of his house's power from fear, ruthlessness, and wealth hardened Tywin. And he became so obsessed with protecting his family that he wouldn't tolerate anything that would cause others to see his house as weak (like his son being a Dwarf). Even so, he is still controlled by that deep-rooted drive to protect his family, which is why he still refused to kill Tyrion as a baby. But what really led to his family's downfall was that he felt that he was the only one who could protect his family. He put everything on himself, and he wouldn't share the responsibility with anyone because he didn't think anyone else could protect the family or do what needed to be done. He did hope that Jaime could take over for him to protect his family. But he couldn't see that Jaime didn't want that responsibility and wasn't suited for it, but that Tyrion was. Unfortunately, Cercei was the one who was listening and tried to fulfill the role Tywin wanted for Jaime, but only because she wanted to be feared and respected like her father was. His expectations for Jaime crushed him, which likely pushed Jaime and Cercei together and led to Jaime forsaking his inheritance for the Kingsguard. Jaime wasn't suited for power, and was likely punished by his father by not fulfilling the role he expected of him. But he was praised for his natural fighting prowess, so it led him to pursue a life of fighting more and pushed him away from ruling like his father wanted. In the end, Tywin had no one he could trust to protect the family better than he could, except for Tyrion whom he would eventually push away from his family. And this ultimately led to his death and for his house to crumble without him. And it all started with a boy who grew up in a loving family, and would become a monster in order to protect them.
Tywin Became no better than his father..They were Both Fools. Being intelligent and pragmatic does not make you wise. He was Fool. His Father was Kind but alao a Fool For not enforcing order....Tywin is a Fool for Rejecting Compassion and His Father is a Fool for Rejecting Order and Discipline.
As someone else asked, leviathan by inertia featuring jacob charlton of thornhill is an absolute must. Such a great song that you lads will love.
Weak men create bad times,
Strong men create good times
Tywin took so many L’s, no matter how strictly he tried to conquer with an iron fist. It was like he was swimming up river.
The way he carried himself really was his only W.
🚶🏾♂️
It's very sad that all those Tyto's characteristics are considered as "weak", because in my opinion that's what make a person kind and respectable.
I mean, I may be naive, but I admire a person like that
What goes around comes around
Where do you get all of this amazing art 😭
I don’t think Tywin was evil at all. He was single-minded, loyal, and focused. That’s not evil.
Tywin Glazers incoming
He was called "The Toothless Lion" not the Laughing Lion. Laughing Lion was Gerion's nickname as he was a prankster and joker, and Tyrion and Jaime's favorite uncle.
They also called him the Toothless Lion if memory serves correctly
Wasn’t this also in the show? Like he mentioned it at Harrenhall to Arya.
And thus, that is ultimately why Joffrey was so bad too...
tywin prequel when
This does explain why he became who he is.
Tytos = a very nice man but incompetent lord. Tywin = a very cruel man but incredibly effective lord.
Tywin was ruthless, but not evil.
So Tywin is the exact opposite of his dad
Well I'll do it as well especially faced such huge disrespect
@Videobook3 Do you have a video of the Raynes of Castle mere death video because of Tywinn correct 💯 Tysvm
I really really want book Bronn to be the last surviving bastard or son of house Reyne! I know it isn’t the case but Imagine if from the Inn at the Crossroads on Bronn was waiting to make his move on Tyrion only to end up getting addicted to the lifestyle and deciding to “bide his time”. Have him decide against his plans to live and let live as a rich man instead, only to feel guilty after Cersei does in fact blow up the Sept of Baelor and kill hundreds after it all.. Have Bronn be the “valonqar” and have this act of vengeance be what drives Jamie (who somehow does end up crawling back to Cersei) to claim the newly vacated Iron Throne before Faegon can make his way to lay siege to Kings Landing.
Does anyone know the name of the background music? I've been trying to find it since a long time.
Apart from his treatment of tyrion i never actually saw tywin as that bad tbh. Perhaps its because im a father myself but he had to be tough to keep that lot in line. And being a father means protecting your family even if they hate you for it. I imagine that went double for tywin after his father dragged their family name through the mud.
Bullshit, but His pointless cruelty towards Tysha and commonfolk has been avenged. Now he's packed up on the "privy", dropping chunks.
🚬🗿 Tywin *PACKWATCH* 🚬🗿
bro said not anymore
I thought it was uncle Gerrion Lannister who was the laughing lion
Tywin probably didn't order her to walk the city naked he might have said"You will not leave with anything that belonged to my mother, " But by that time her whole cabinet might been of tywin's mom's clothes. 😂😂
It would be such poetic justice if the high sparrow was the son Of that woman
Lord Tywin for President
Tywin could've easily have won the Game of Thrones. Only one who could rule tbh
Tywin overcorrected.
Tytos was the third son of Gerold Lannister and Rohanne Webber and thus wasn't expected to inherit anything or trained in Rulership, unfortunately his brothers died in battle without issue and Gerold's focus on Tytos' training came too little and too late.
That's also why Tywin intentionally sabotaged Tyrion's marrage to a common woman by having her.......violated by multiple men and claimed she was a whole who lied about loving Tyrion. It's later we find out she WASNT and she DID love Tyrion. Also in the book when they find her now working as a prostitute, she has a DAUGHTER at the right age and hair color to possibly be Tyrion's
There's also a possibility that one of the Nights' Watch recruits is a bastard of Tywin's, because he's described very similarly to Joffrey
Oh, & the prostitute? I heard that she might be *Tywin's*
Tytos being a poor ruler is hardly suprising. He is a third son, and both his elder brothers reached adulthood. , so it was always rather unlikely for him to inherit rule over the west.
Honestly, I never got why people see him as a bad ruler, sure, he lended out tons of gold that his lords didn't pay back, but it's not like the debt just vanishes, the interests would just continue to pile up, right?
@@johnkonig865
Except he never demanded the loans back, or other ensurances. Other lords knew very well, what to do, to get what they want from him, allowing others nobles like the Tarbecks to live way above what their ressources would allow. Tytos was probably a really fun guy, but he was also a "people pleaser".
Then he married off Genna to Emmon Frey, which was considered a huge loss of station. Emmon was not even heir to the Twins. His elder brother Steffron even had already sons of his own when they were married, so it was an "arranged" marriage, that does not really go anywhere.
@@josynaemikohler6572 "Except he never demanded the loans back," that is kind of what I was getting at, why would he? The longer they don't repay their debts, the greater the amount owed will grow, House Lannister has a claim to the owed gold, plus interest, indefinitely, he's essentially printing gold.
Why is Tytos dressed like the Flash?
Tywin made his step-mother walk naked.
Cersei had to walk naked.
KARMA!!!! 😐😐
Not step mother she was his fathers wh**e they are not married and she was a thief who took tywins mom's jewellery so tywin did nothing wrong
How in the world did you jump to the conclusion that it was his stepmother? The video literally states it was his mistress. JFC
@@debamlyabanerjee4067so you approve violence and humiliation when a poor person just tastes a little of luxury (which has worked for)? That is next level of clasist bullshit.
@@debamlyabanerjee4067the poor girl was probably given these clothes and jewels by Tywin’s father. Tywin likes to bully those weaker than him, if she was a Targ he wouldn’t dare pull that move.
@@Lumosnight as far as I remember the mistress manipulated tytos a great deal and was bring House Lannister to its ruin.
“In his last few years, Tytos became very fat[10] and took a new mistress, a commonborn daughter of a candlemaker. She helped herself to the late Jeyne Marbrand's jewels and clothes and also began ordering about household knights, dismissed servants, and sat in attendance when Tytos was absent. While Tywin was in King's Landing In 267 AC, Tytos died of a heart attack while climbing stairs to see her.[10] Tywin, the new Lord of Casterly Rock, ordered a walk of atonement through Lannisport for his father's mistress.[11]”
I thought they called him the toothless lion? Where did laughing lion come from?
Sounds like our current prime minister 😭😭
Tywin is based as fuck 😂
Tywin was cruel and ruthless but an Evil man he was not
When the soyest of bois raises the red pilliest of sigs 🤌
You can say Tywin was evil. But I think in his case, the "good times make weak man, weak man make hard times, hard times make strong man" meme fits perfectly. Tytos was good, but let his house down and it took Tywin's ruthlessness to pull it back from the edge.
Is it a mistress if he had no wife, surely it would have been a lover
Sugar coating does not change what she is.
@@paulievespucci6867 It's not "sugar coating", you Tywin meat rider. Details are important.
Tywin real life Edward I
Tywin was not evil. He was callous, but not evil. He wasn't cruel because he likes it, he was cruel for a purpose. That is the difference. Ramsay was evil.
one extreme led to the other
Kevan too ??? Or did Tywin do it all by himself ?
Kevan was loyal to Tywin- he expresses his own anger over his father's 'low-born' mistress taking possession of his mother's jewels & gowns.
Kevan's not a bad man- but it's clear that prior to Tywin's death, his strength is enforcing with- & supporting Tywin, rather than leading on his own - it's only after his brother dies that he starts to come into his own as a leader (but one that circumstances forces compromise on- he sees the dangers in the ambitions of the Tyrells, but he's also aware of the Crown's need for their power & resources- unlike Cersei). Unfortunately, it's short-lived- because he's doing well enough that Varys needs to get him out the way, before he undoes all Cersei's 'good work', which would make fAegon's ascendancy harder...
Tywin wasnt evil, he was ruthless and ambitious maybe callous but not evil.
Ruthless and ambition does not seem to vibe with being “good.”

shade of nuance between “good” and “Evil”. And trying to characterise almost any ASOIAF character that simply betrays the complexity of the series. Moustache twirling villains & noble bright heroes are the stuff of super hero films.
@@jamessmart5762 someone who orchestrated a gang assault on an innocent woman…is not complicated to me. There’s worse than Tywin for sure but he definitely leans more evil than anything else. On the spectrum maybe even lawful evil. You can argue whatever you want but people considered cruel…no matter their inspiration for being so, are not just “complicated.” They’re bad people. But perceive him as you wish, morality is subjective.
He is evil for Abusing His Son and In the Book Had his Son's Wife Gang aped By Soilders.
He was intelligent but Still a Fool.
Everything Tywin does is so the Lannisters are feared, so he is obsessed with the “opinions of sheep” and ironically, Tytos the Laughing Lion lived up to that moniker better
no he is obsessed with the opinions of other noble houses, not peasants who are sheep.
He sounds like me.
Honestly publicly humiliating a woman that helped herself to your dead mother's belongings is probably the only thing Tywin did that wasn't outright morally reprehensible
I wouldn't be suprised if Tytos gave them to her, and Tywin and to some extent Kevan just twist the events, to justify that treatment.
It was known, that she got showered with gifts.
@@josynaemikohler6572 that's actually a solid case, this is the dude that literally had his sons wife r*ped and tormented just because she wasn't high born... and to hurt Tyrion
Well it wasn't Tytos thst basically destroyed his House
To be fair , that would enrage any man to see his father be humiliated and some stranger taking all your moms stuff for her own. Not saying what he did was right at all but I get the anger.
