    Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. They are an a capella group with the most talented singers, and a beatboxer who is perhaps the best ever. Yes he is doing the no-harmonica.
    Home Free has a huge catalogue of covers and original songs and though they are billed as country a capella they can do all genres. "End of the Road" is a good example (Boyz 2 Men cover).
    From left to right:
    Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses) tenor, joined 2008. From Minnesota. Smooth soulful voice, whistles like a bird.
    Adam Chance (called Chance)(short dark beard), baritone/bass, joined 2016 when Chris Rupp left. From Alabama. Overtone his special talent.
    Austin Brown, (red beard) high tenor, joined 2013. From Georgia. Never shrill but can get UP there and sustain it.
    Adam Rupp, beatboxer, founder of the group along with his brother Chris, in 2000. His talent at beatboxing is off the chain. From Minnesota.
    Tim Foust, bass, joined 2012. From Texas. Has at least a 5 octave range from deepest bass to surprisingly high falsetto. Hair was long then; he since cut it and quit hiding the grey.

    • @whiskerbiscuits22
      @whiskerbiscuits22 2 года назад

      Oh? I thought Tim put the Grey there?

    • @petuniasevan
      @petuniasevan 2 года назад +4

      @@whiskerbiscuits22 nope he was hiding it with haircolor for some years but during quarantine he wasn't able to get it done so he decided to cut his hair in July 2020 and let the grey show, as he didn't want to have long grey hair like Willie Nelson. It you look close during old concert footage you can sometimes see the lights shining through the color like fiber optics. This is because grey hair is actually hollow.

    Actually, Home Free were on a singing competition called Sing Off. They, plus other Acapella groups such as their friends, fellow group, Voiceplay were competing against each other. Bass singer, Tim Foust has a vocal range of 5 Octaves. Speaking of their friends, Voiceplay, this group like Home Free does covers of iconic songs. Like Tim, Voiceplay has their Bass singer named Geoff Castellucci also has vocal range of 5 Octaves too. Geoff also has his own YT channel.

    Hey brother ! Yes welcome to the world of Home Free...you should hear their cover of End of the Road by Boyz2Men...your mind will be blown...they poured the country on in this one but the song called for it. Other good ones from Home Free...a cover of Kane Brown's "Heaven" and an original of their try Dive Bar Saints

  • @GaiaOne
    @GaiaOne 2 года назад +38

    And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so fucking doomed. We'll save you a chair.
    You're about to be drowned in Home Fries.
    Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks. Amazing.
    All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He's a two-time world champion and there're good reasons he's called a "Freak of Nature" and the man who swallowed a drum kit. For more of Adam's incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete's sake), his no-harmonica harmonica solo on Working For A Living, and his drum solos.
    For more of Tim's seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version).
    For Chance's smooth baritone, check out Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome. A basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow.
    For Rob's smooth soul, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.)
    For Austin's soaring tenor, check out Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.)
    For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Make You Feel My Love, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget.
    For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.)
    For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne.
    For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female.
    For more of their wonderful collaborations, check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Peter Hollens.
    Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video.
    Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.”
    You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.

  • @marshac7738
    @marshac7738 2 года назад +41

    Home Free is the best--period. They are completely acapella and make all "instrumental" sounds themselves. Chance doing the jaw harp sound really sets the stage for this song's story. Tim's bass line completely grounds the harmonies and Adam's voice percussion simply cannot be beat. This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle just about any other genre amazingly!!
    (The more Home Free songs you react to the more subscribers you'll gain. "Home Fries" (HF fans) are incredibly loyal and will flock to wherever the guys' music shows up 🥰)

    Oh, wait. This is one of their serious videos. They can also get very extremely silly. But their music NEVER suffers for it. Check out Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer, This is How We Roll, and Guilty Pleasures. Tim, the bass singer wrote Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget and what turned out to be its sequel Full of Cheer. They join with The Oak Ridge Boys for Elvira and Kenny Rogers for Children Go Where I Send Thee. Their latest videos, just in the last couple weeks, are Unchained Melody, and for Valentine's Day Make You Feel My Love. I Swear was last year's Valentine's Day gift to us home fries. Their tenor Austin Brown also dropped a solo video of Bring Him Home from Les Miz that is absolutely amazing.

    Home Free is the real deal. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the season after Pentatonix won. They are “a cappella” meaning no instruments. Adam Rupp is the insanely talented beatboxer. Watch Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015). He’s amazing. This song is over 100 years old but was made popular in the movie O Brother Where Art Thou. They are a country group but sing all genres. Try End of the Road, Brothers in Arms. Can’t Stop the Feeling to hear more great harmonies. If you want bass try Folsom Prison Blues, Hillbilly Bone. Good reaction Marqus. 😀

    Home Fry from SoCal here. I'm case no one else mentioned it, they are doing a cover of "Man of Constant Sorrow" (also known as "I am A Man of Constant Sorrow."). It's a traditional American Folk song and different singers have recorded versions: The Stanley Brothers, Bob Dylan, etc. And it was used in the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" (2000) - it's where I was introduced to the song. Home Free does a great job with their cover, and the video is outstanding. Definitely check out their other songs! It's a great rabbit hole to fall into. 🙂

  • @Indigo_moon

    It may look simple and sound simple, but it's actually complex because there are no instruments. The theme of the music video, including their outfits is because they are mimicking the era from the movie O' Brother Where Art Thou, which had this song in it. It's an old folk song but they sang a bluegrass version of it for the movie and became a famous song because of it. So that's where most people know it from.

    Lots of practice goes into making it sound so easy. The song itself is about one hundred years old,old mountain music. There are vids that will teach you how to make music sounds with your mouth. Home Free has a huge catalog,many humorous numbers. Suggestion: All About that Bass,Champagne on a Beer Budget,Brothers in Arms,My Church, How Great Thou Art and many more. They tend toward country but will do any genre.

    Yes he makes the harmonica with his mouth and to make matters worse when they do it live the first singer also does the harmonica sound with him so two no-harmonica harmonicas at once

    If you're feeling the a cappella but want something that's more modern check out the Daft Punk Medley by Pentatonix. Like with Home Free, there are no instruments; it's all the human voice. I always find myself going back this one from time to time. It's so good.

    The technique for the instrument-less harmonica is tough, and it takes a lot of practice to get it right or able to do long rifts. If you've ever played a brass instrument, you've got a head start! Loved watching your enjoyment here - they aren't like most other groups, but I love'em. Anything they do, I'll listen to. They've got a few out there with rap included - check out their mash-ups (I'm sure the die-hard Home Fries have already given you a list, in order of what should be watched and what to listen for ;) )
