    There is so much to unpack here. Let me just say this grill is stinking awesome. Its an unbelievable grill. What I normally hate about high end grills, is sometimes companies just make nice grills to make nice grills. And they dont really do anything different to the gas grill market. Its just another product that is the same old song and dance. Well then along came Hestan and totally redeemed themselves. Because they didnt just make another grill that just has high end finishes and materials, there actually is a lot different in this grill that in my opinion offers superior performance. Let me break it down.
    Spring assisted hood this isn’t just a lightweight hood, it actually stays put anywhere you have the lid placed!
    - The ceramic briquettes are reversible which is stinking awesome. That is normally the most annoying thing with this feature is them always getting dirty. Well Hestan solved this problem.
    - The cooking grates are awesome too, and are also reversible
    - The trellis burners are one of a kind and unlike anything I have ever seen, they are 321 Stainless steel, so they are extremely durable, and the design is a way that will promote even cooking throughout the grill!
    - The coolest thing in my opinion is that the infrared rotisserie burner is in the roof of the grill, this allows you to use the warming rack and a broiler or a toaster, which is so so awesome.
    - Also the lighting is in the hood itself which allows for more lighting in the grill itself
    Don’t forget if your in the Denver Colorado Area, visit our showroom today and check out this grill for yourself!

    One of the things that I think that little bit of extra vertical space between the grates and the briquette layer below offers is a bit more space for the charcoal tray. Most of these nicer gas grills have a charcoal tray, but they always seem so close to the grates that I wonder how well they work, this seems like it has just a little bit more space where that might work better.

      @@chrisrizzo5976 Hi Chris. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to use the unit yet. I'm building out a new bbq area and hope to have it ready for the install soon. What I can share is my initial experience with how the unit was delivered was extremely disappointing. It arrived on a pallet with no foam cushioning/protection resulting in damage to the unit. The grates that were delivered were tossed into the grill area with no protection. It arrived missing two of the grates. The spit rod was crammed in the grill area resulting in scratching the inside of the unit. For $7k, I was very disappointed. My EVO and BJ3 arrived in perfect condition and were packaged perfectly. Unfortunately, I feel like the most expensive grill I ordered, the Hestan 42" ,was repackaged or something at the distributor. I have a hard time believing it comes like this from Hestan in CA. If I reach a point of being able to use it, I'll let you know. I chose it over the Twin Eagles due to the design and style but they both have very solid specs. Hopefully I will have a more positive report to share in the near future as I am trying to get Embers Fireplaces and Outdoor Living to address it.

I have a Hestan 42 with an infrared burner and searing stakes at high or even med-high I often get lots of flare ups (especially with ribeyes). @@jasonstanis514 A little bit with fatty cuts, but nothing unmanageable for my purposes since I don't use the whole grill surface area at one time and can move things around while the flare-ups subside. But the combination briquet/stainless steel apparatus underneath the grill surface is more susceptible to flare-ups than the simpler stainless steel bars I had experience with on my prior Weber and Napoleon grills. I think this in part because of its larger surface area and it doesn't allow grease to run off the way those angled bars probably do

    • @mcgilcol
      @mcgilcol 2 года назад

      @@jasonstanis514 I don't flip them very often. Certainly everything has long been burnt off the bottom side by the time I do. I actually have found more flare ups immediately after a flip rather than when I have left them unflipped for a while. This was consistent with how I found more flare ups when I very first got the grill when everything was at its cleanest. I really don't know why this pattern should be, but that has been my experience. I probably only flip them 3 times a year at most and I grill every week (including the dead of winter up here in Canada)

      I am replacing my 20 year old TEC patio II that had the original infrared ceramic plates and did have flareups but they were never really an issue. As mentioned the new tech grills have the glass plate directly under the grates so you won’t get any flareups. However I’m wondering with the new tech grills and the glass plates, is it really still grilling? I’m torn since the OG TEC lasted for so long. Hmmm, maybe I should just rebuild all the insides and reset the clock! New grill input welcomed! 😁

    • @mefobills279
      @mefobills279 3 года назад +2

      @@DFenech The glass plates prevent air movement (convection currents) and are mostly transparent to infrared radiation. Burners below the plates, emit heat energy, which is transmitted through the glass. As a comparison, lit charcoal also emits heavily in infrared and is not moving a lot of air. Standard bunsen style partially aerated burners, like those of conventional gas grills, or your gas cooktop, typically have drip shields or ceramic briquettes arrayed above burner, which absorb heat from burner flame, and then re-radiate in the infrared spectrum. Technically, the TEC glass plate infrared burners would be the most advanced grilling technology available, but I have never cooked on them. Borosilicate glass is expensive, and it should last forever as it is fairly robust and shock resistant. Your old TEC is a different technology, still emits in infrared, has a lower turn down ratio, and higher potential for flareups.

    I recently purchased this grill and I was disappointed with their quality control and fitment on the cart. There were screws missing and where the grill bolts down to the cart on the rear there were two different size threaded holes. There were some other nits but my biggest complaint was that the two doors on the cart only had two screws hold the hinge to the cart and there is supposed to be four. They didn't even put threaded insert where the other screw should be. Overall the grill itself was good but there was one trellis that didn't sit flat and was twisted. For $12k I expected much better quality control. I have written them but no response as of yet so customer service thus far gets an F. The boxes came stacked on on top of the other and crushed the bottom box with the grill but fortunately it didn't hurt anything. My Wife and I are 73 and it was not easy getting the boxes separated. I paid $4k for my Blaze professional a few years back and it was much better fitment and their customer service was excellent. I really liked the infrared rotisserie on the top which is why I purchased. I give the grill a "B" and the cart an "F". I try to buy American when I can which is another reason I chose Hestan but apparently California products are more similar to China than say Wisconsin or North Carolina.

      I agree with the bad customer service. I also experienced the horrible wiring or trailer trash engineering that for me, caught on fire and melted and burnt up the unprotected wiring. I can ONLY think, with all the it's just a matter of time before these grills burns up. There isn't any protection for the wires between the front panel and the fire box. wires are 1/2 inch from cooking area. I only used my grill 10 to 15 times and the ignition stopped working. Took the panel off and seen chard wires. the plastic melted and dripped to the gas line and simply started a fire in the front panel. Heston put ZERO thought into protecting these wires. Completely drooped the ball with the wiring..

      @@embersliving thank you for your reply. What about the gap between the ceramic brickets? This leaves a gap in heat distribution no? I have a similar gap in my current bbq, and basically that area just cooks slower. Is it the same case here?

    I have this grill in 42". Probably wouldn't buy it again. Rotisserie holds up to 50 lbs yet you can't go larger than a medium turkey because the overhead burner is only about 7.5 inches away from the rotisserie. The ceramic briquette trays are flat. Cool because all you have to do to clean them is turn them over and let the burners do the work. Not cool is being flat they are very prone to flame ups. Burgers can be quite the challenge. Also, the briquette trays are prone to some warping and the heating is not very even. It is built like a brick shit house, it's just not designed very well.

    Seer station takes up the main burner space. Not a fan. Much rather prefer the side station infrared seer burner.

      It depends on your personal cooking style and preferences, but having used both (sear burner in the grill and as a side station) I strongly prefer having it in the grill. I find it much easier to attend to everything if it's all in the grill, and the first time you drop a $50 porterhouse going from the side station sear burner to the grill, you'll wish it was in the grill! For me, a 42" gives plenty of room even if I completely disregard the space occupied by the sear burner.

    When is someone going to do an actual grill review. A video looking at the grill and talking about features is not a review. Need a review of how it cooks. How hot does the rotisserie burner get to sear steaks under it? How even is the heat? What are the flare ups like?

    • @embersliving

      All in good time Nathan. If we cooked on every grill we reviewed we would have 100’s of used grills. So logistically it isn’t possible. But more cook videos are coming

      It wasn’t actually. Not even close. This grill on a cart is over $10,000. The new Weber is in the $3,000 range. If you’re shopping for a brand like hestan, the word Weber should never be spoken of ha.

    Their service stinks. And for an expensive, luxury product there are a surprising number of serious design defects. It's taken Hestan over 9 months to get my grill repaired on warranty, with them making me pay the labor for their problems! I'm not been happy with my purchase.

    I buy everything based on reviews. Some said this was hard to put together ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt some guy said 2 hours and 2 beers later. I didn't drink beer like I was going to. I didn't feel like going to the store. I'm assuming I would have had at least 3. I took my time. Stepped outside for a cigarette break a couple times but all in all it was about a 3 hour project for me but it wasn't like it was difficult or anything . Only pictures but everything is pretty organized and labeled although I didn't see any #s on the actual pieces like it shows in the diagrams. Only the screws were labeled. On the cardboard part of the packaging on the back side. I put it together in my living room too. It wasn't supposed to rain today but it's Michigan and I couldn't wait so I put it together in my living room. Without beer but beer would definitely have made it more fun that's for sure. I'm giving this a 5 for easy assembly. I'll update after it stops raining when I can take it out of my living room and cook some food on it. Hope this helps at least for people who think they can't put this together because I did and you can too . And there are extra screws. I got nervous and immediately came here to see if others had the same experience and they have. You're not doing it wrong. There will be extra screws. Be patient. Don't rush it. Drink beer. Happy assembling
