I studied the version on his album “The Vault - Old Friends For Sale”. Have you heard of?

I certainly have. But must admit that I'm more familiar with the old bootleg version from the '85 parade sessions. It seems quite different to me, bit more raw and darker perhaps.
My favourite prince song ever!

The original version was on one of the parade configurations : he changed it up later to remove references to Chick Fargnoli etc .. anything personal basically; shame as it was a more visceral song originally
