Pruning and Repotting My Nightshade Bonsai - June 2022
This is one of my favorite bonsai "trees" in my collection. Technically, this Climbing Nightshade is a vine that I've decided to make into a bonsai. Look, I'm the artist here so I'll do what I want. When I picked it up for a pruning, I noticed that the roots were growing through the bottom of the pot and I just put it in the pot less than 2 months ago! So, it was time for a repot. I figured this would be a great time to use the hypertufa pot I made in the spring. I love the way it turned out!

Josh hows the American Elms doing from last fall?

Great! I’ll have to do a one year later follow up. It was touch and go at first but most of them took off.

Mine went great and I did cut out the tap root and it made a smaller shohin elm. Just hope the growth hardens off before winter.
