    Hi . For those who want the magic solution to the problem of the fan making a very loud sound during pressure. All you have to do is put an additional fan that brings air into this power supply and the problem will disappear by 80%. After long experiments, I discovered that there is a manufacturing defect in it, which is that the internal parts get insanely hot, but the fan cannot work until there is a certain watt draw, which is approximately 300 watts. If you are running on 150 watts without any ventilation, the parts start getting very hot and cannot give a command to the fan to cool them down. Therefore, when it reaches the level at which the fan can operate, it will operate at maximum power for half a minute until the temperature returns to its normal level and continues after a minute of operating at the normal level.

    • @jordanash
      @jordanash  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! Yeah thermal sounded like the reason, but it's a bit difficult to get a fan pointed at the PSU in some cases. Hopefully they make a V2 with a lower thermal trigger

    • @leotrain2792
      @leotrain2792 8 месяцев назад +2

      I have been having this same issue myself, the power supply sits and just cooks itself until there is a higher load on it. My case stays normally very cool inside at around 95 F but started noticing temps over 120 F. I found the power supply fan not coming on and did a jumper test to see if it would come on and still nothing. I have it rigged up now to run test but do not trust leaving this unit unattended. Power supply gets hot enough that you can't leave your hand on in without getting burnt and can smell a hot plastic melting smell inside when it does this. Its exactly as you say, I think this unit will burn it self out before it turns that fan on. I put a heavy load on the graphics card to where it pulls wattage and all the sudden the fan kicks in. I was thinking who makes a power supply unit tied to the gpu rather than internal temp? I was having random shut downs and couldn't figure out why. Found out the power supply temp will eventually kill the system before it turns the fan on as you said that is a major design flaw!!! BTW Asus customer support sucks for a power supply. Mine is only 4 months old but they want to send it in and be without one for 4-6 weeks while they "try to determine" course of action to take. To anyone looking to buy this unit if your computer never goes to "sleep mode" but doesn't do high demanding things a lot you will cook this unit and maybe your system. The heat this thing gets to is unreal! I have already got an RMA for this one but went ahead and got a different brand will keep the one they eventually get around to sending me for my test bed.

      1.8m generally, but amazon sells longer ones. It's a generic type cable anyway ☺

    can I use the 12vhpwr 6 2, that came with the TUF gaming 1000w 80 gold, to connect with the red devil 7900 xtx? Cause if I can't I'll be short a 8 pin Pcie cable

      Yep, someone else asked that and replied that Asus confirmed it to be safe to do.

    Where can I buy extra SATA power cables for this modular psu, Amazon UK has modular SATA power cables to buy but I don't know which will work with this PSU. Can someone please help.

    • @jordanash

      How many do you need? You should *never* use anything that's not meant for it.

      @@jordanash I have 8 internal hard drives (7 mechanical and 1 SSD) but you only get 5 sata power connectors with the power supply I also need 2 extra SSD power connectors to power the fan hubs which means I need another extra cable with 5 more Sata power connectors. I was running everything off a Corsair 750w PSU but I went and upgraded my GPU to a 4070 TI which is why I also upgraded my PSU to the tuf gaming 1000w unit just to make sure I had plenty of extra power if I ever need it.

      Blimey, you can get molex to sata adapters, possibly one to two, that would work. Long term wise though, could you look at swapping to a NAS for the hard drives, or swap to large NVME drives? The only other thing I can think of is just a bigger PSU, everything else will just be dodgy

      @@jordanash The PSU does have 3 connectors on it for Sata or Molex cables, as I am just using 2 Sata all I need is 1 extra cable with 5 sata power connectors on it and you can buy them from Amazon but I don't know which one would be compatible with this power supply, one thing I did forget to mention is that I have two m.2 drives connected to my motherboard as well one 1 TB and one 4 TB. My motherboard is the asus x570 gaming plus board which can take up to 8 sata drives and 2 m.2 drives.

      Well unless it states it's a *direct replacement* it's not worth the risk, swapping cables can easily result in exploding PSUs. I'd look for standard molex to sata adapters. Are those smaller capacity drives? Could you not look at getting a few higher capacity drives over time? Seems like you're crammed.

    Hi bro have a question... Is this psu's fan ran sometimes? Or continuesly like previous generation psu...

    • @jordanash

      It has zero rpm, so won't spin under a certain low load.

    Yeah, got the same PSU, never would have thought that a PSU could be so loud.. even at only a 200w load. It belongs to the trash bin, 200 euros wasted! Asus keeps disappointing lately, time to switch.

    Definitely a mid range PSU. Nothing impressive about this at all. Asus has some companies make some great PSUs for them, but this Great Wall OEM isn't it.
