Norm, your video is one grand contribution to the challenge. It was wonderful to again watch the master at work on his railroad and to see that you had added it to the Holiday Box Car Challenge was a thrill! Thank you, Norm, for contributing to the challenge for a second year! You, definitely, did it! Happy New Year! Bill
Keen to see more of your tutorials on interior boxcars and the like. I can then copy them on my HO scale 😂 bloody brilliant keen it up. Also I find your electronic rebuilds on locomotives a great watch even though you can’t get that stuff easily in Aus.
Another great weathering job that I’m going to try and copy!😂 Just to add for information’s sake (trying not to be a rivet counter), the SAL B7s were based on the PRR X31 with a few changes/distinctions, mainly being that they are the flush roof style (the Lionel car is the “inset” roof style), the roof construction is of a different pattern, and the lower sill is not smooth and more like the AAR 1937 sill. The Lionel version is still a very close representation to all but the most discerning and of course the weathering job is what we’re all here for! You’re really treating us with two uploads in a week.
@ that would definitely be a good touch if it were available. There was a nice kit in HO scale but the producer is long defunct and they rarely come up. I also enjoyed you putting it right next to one of the other great round roof boxcars in the train at the end.
She looks great Norm, well done! I am also a “just enough” weatherer, it is so easy to overdo it. Good to see you are well, hope the holidays were great for you and the family. See you next year.
I know you are a Lionel guy thru and thru, but do you ever regret not investing your time and money in Proto 48? In any event, you are truly a master of what you do. Your structures and scenery are some of the best in all of modeling and your weathering is beyond amazing.
Norm, I’m not sure why or how you are not more popular. You are the best model train guy out there. Ridiculous attention to detail. I’m hoping you work on commission and make toms of money. DM me if you do commissions.
That came out really well. Do you sell your Kadee shims? I am reluctant to convert anything Lionel because of the added steps to do so; I normally stick to Atlas and Weaver.
As always, Norm, another great video I as well always look forward to them. You mentioned armor model videos. I don’t know if you’ve ever watched this guy called the Night Shift. He’s a great model as well. Happy new year.
Nice work Norm!! I always wondered who is responsible for cleaning out the dunnage from freight cars after they're unloaded, the current RR moving them or the RR that takes them to be reloaded, as a Trucker I'm responsible for any left over paper, plastic wrap and pieces of broken skids, some places I deliver to will get it after unloading and a few places won't load my Trailer until I clean it out, it's pretty much the rule for food stuff but not so much for me as I haul auto parts!!! Great video Norm and Happy New Year to you and yours!!!
@markgoodrich941 Very cool, I deliver auto parts everyday from Central Indiana to parts of Tennessee, Smyrna, Springhill and McKenzie so I roam thru parts of the old L&N!!!!
@@conrailfan6277 No, the consignee would be charged for the cleaning. One of my first jobs was in warehousing unloading rail cars. If the car was empty but not cleaned it would sometimes not be picked up. Ultimately the RR doesn't want to deliver a dirty car to a customer.
Back when you first started modeling, how did you get over the fear of messing up your rolling stock? I would like to convert all my stuff to Kadee and maybe weather but I don’t want to mess it up.
@@P_litzer I’d recommend learning to use acrylics. They are more forgiving and can be scrubbed off with water if you’re not happy. Lionel cars seem to have the toughest paint.

Great job Norm. Your attention to detail is second to none. Love your layout.
1. Norm, huge fan, love your stuff and your layout is a true inspiration.
2. “Booger-Snot” - made me giggle.
3. The interior scratches? Great idea!

Holy sh*t! That's some diorama you've made! Simply amazing in it's detail!
Thanks!

Great tutorial... your weathering is spot on and inspiring.
i saw the norm's trains notification and i couldn't be happier that you posted!
You knock it out of the park !
Wow! You did a fantastic job, sir! Might I suggest that you try one of the new RMT scale boxcars?

Great job Norm!
Norm you spoil us. Happy New Year.
funny, in this case a "wash" is intended to make it look dirty
Nice to see how weathering techniques are transferable from one branch of modeling to another.
Norm, your great man. Just great looking trains.
I’ll never forget the footage from your layout for Lionel nation part 2. Especially that nyc Mohawk 2793, that was my favorite engine from that video!
Wouldn’t mind getting another one! I sold that one a few years ago.
amazing video norms trains. your a big inspiration for my o gauge rail road, keep up the amazing work. and happy new year

When I worked for L&N they had a clean up track where they swept them out and cleaned the dunage and debris out.
