    26:10 Excellent video. I've owned my X150 XKR for nearly 4 years and didn't know how to fold both mirrors whilst still in the car. Everyday is a school day. Thanks

    The seat setting buttons also auto adjust the steering wheel height and distance....us tall ones never notice,but for a smaller person its a surprise...

    Press the screen saver button twice and the screen is turned off completely. my auto dip mirror has never reset properly, i will try your 2 memory suggestion. Your videos always want me to go out and tinker with mine. no pun intended !

    Useful info, thanks Paul. The lumber support is, as you would expect, the lower part of the seat upright. It moves forwards and backwards into your lower back. The travel is fairly small but takes a while from front to back limit. Put your hand on the seat and run the motor forward for 20 seconds or so and then backwards, you should feel some change.

    • @steverabbits
      @steverabbits Месяц назад

      Yes I've found it takes quite a while before you feel it pushing into your back.

    I have the same issue with the mirror! luckily found the setting within the screen to turn it off but great to see you can use the memory function to dip the mirrors!

    I love my 2006 X150; it's such a great cruiser (not that kind :) ). I drive between the UK and the Netherlands often, and it's so comfortable, even with a straight-through exsaust being a bit too loud.
    I use the glovebox USB for my dashcam, the wires hidden behind the A-frame trim and then snacked to the glove box.
    I use the tilt sensor deactivated often for obvious reasons; just wish switching the headlight did not require the removal of the headlights.
    My mirror dip unfortunately doesn't work, same problem as yours; they also go haywire. I also do the seat-setting trick. I will try setting it up again.
    I did not know about the double press to fold the mirror while in the car. Never missed it but good to know!

    With regard to your errant mirror, this used to happen on my BMW. It turns out that it's poor contact/corrosion on the connection on the mirror motor. It "see's" a higher resistance which confused the motor control module. Might be worth a try in the future as it cured my issue.

    • @steverabbits

      Yep I reckon it's where water has got inside. My X5 does the same thing

  • @mattarnold7633

    the AC is used to stop it misting up, so recommended to leave on.
    the mirror thing is because the mechanism needs cleaning and rubbing. It's sensing too much current and moving away from that position to protect it.

    • @steverabbits
      @steverabbits Месяц назад

      People often forget that air con does more than chill the air, it removes moisture from the air to prevent misting of the screen so I agree with you, I leave mine all always. The difference in fuel for me makes little difference as I do so little mileage in mine anyway.

  • @m4ttww

    One to add… If you don’t have wing mirror fold selected you can force them to close if necessary by pressing the two buttons in the driver door at the same time.

    Another one I just learned is the ability to prevent the windows rolling down by themselves. You can disable that feature. It's designed such that if you hold down the open button it unlocks and rolls down the windows. However, I've had it activate a couple of times by itself (worrying when you come out in the morning and find your windows open...). It can be disabled and it's probably a good idea to do so. Look under 'Locks' in the handbook.

      That has never happened to me - yet! 😂 I find the key fob window lowering really useful especially in really hot weather to get the heat out before I get into the car.

    I have a 2010 5.0 NA and I love it. Was thinking of selling but have been watching XK vids for a couple of hours and it's going nowhere now! I knew most of the tricks apart from resetting the windows and the cup holder being removable. That's coming out tomorrow cos I never ever ever ever drink or eat in my car and the extra space for my phone would be useful. Wish my son would learn that one, last time I saw his XE it could do with a clean inside 😂 My very old X5 does the same crazy stuff with the reversing dipping mirrors, I'll check the XK tomorrow cos I've got it set to 'off' and I reckon I did that probably cos I've got the same trouble as yours although I can't remember tbh. My most recent issue is the headlining has come adrift and is hanging down. Really annoying so gotta be fixed when I find out how or where to get it done. One thing I've fitted to mine is some coloured Jaguar logo door puddle lights and they are mint! AliExpress jobs. Work brilliantly and look very special when I step out of the car at night in town. I found with my inflatable lumber adjustment that you have to press it forward for quite a while before you feel it pushing into your back. It seems odd that both of yours are not working, maybe check the fuses? There are loads of them so it could be one has gone. I think they work on air inflation so of you can hear the motor/pump working maybe check an air tube or whatever they use under the seats hasn't become detached. I think I may remove the ashtray too as the extra space could be handy. I don't know if it's the same on your 4.2 but inside the centre tunnel cubby hole on mine there is a special slot to put the key fob in, I believe it maybe charges it via induction, although that is a guess. I bought two new key fobs for mine because I only had one it it was about to break but I found when it was a bit weak and was not blipping very well, putting in that slot seemed to help get it working better, hence my assumption that it charges the button battery inside the key fob. Really enjoyed watching your video, thanks for the insights 👍👍

    Great tip about the mirror, I have exactly the same problem of mine going anywhere when using the mirror dip function plus the fact that when I reverse out of the garage I don't want it to dip so using your memory setting method is a great idea when parking. Thanks for the tip

    The "mirror dip" feature is in theory very useful, but I found it disorienting when reverse parking, and don't use it; guess you have to get used to it...The trick about using one of the seat presets for that feature is clever - might give that a go.
    Also, I keep an emergency $20 bill under the removable cup-holder - y' never know...

    The lumbar support switch moves up and down as well as forward and backwards. Pushing it up or down you should feel the corresponding part of the seat (higher or lower back) inflating/deflating depending on your input

    Hi Paul, re the mirrors, my XK passenger mirror works fine on reverse dip but sometimes when driving normally it's all over the place when I go to check it. Would be nice to know what causes it but it's not a big problem, I just press the memory button and it returns to normal. Also on the lumbar support, my XF is similar, I find if I hold the button for a long time it does pump up eventually, the XF also has side bolsters and these are the same, maybe a lazy pump or a leaking valve / hose. I haven't tried the passenger side on either car yet. Great videos of the Jag and the MR2, keep them coming, HowardT

    Great vid and thanks again for the info. Looking to get one a 4.2 XK later in the year. I just clocked the 12V white 'brick' item and one of the annoyances is playing bluetooth music from my phone. Now I am aware of the invery adapter if its got the ipod socket but is tht a 12V in the little front cubbyhole slider? I thought it might be a cig lighter only on older cars so wasnt sure if an FM bluetooth transmitter would work? Not sure if thats what that is or just a powerbrick for other devices ? I think The lumbar adjustment is side bolsters, not the centre as is normal. They inflate and tighten the width not protrude into the lower back.

    • @steverabbits
      @steverabbits Месяц назад

      No that's not correct, it definitely is a lumber support. Cars with side bolster adjustment have extra switches for that.
