    These are really useful videos Paul. I’ve got the 5.0 litre XK with smart locks and you can’t lock the fob in the car as it won’t let you. You’re sat nav fix saved me a small fortune. Keep up the good work mate.👍👍

    The ability to be able to unlock only the driver's door is one of the benefits of being part of a major group such as Ford. This feature was available on Fiestas and Focuses (Focii?) from the early Naughties.

    Another top video 👍. My xk is keyless which is handy. I did buy a silicon cover on ebay which slips over the key fob snugly protecting the fob which is a bit fragile. Choice of colours for about a fiver.

    I believe here in the states all X150’s start with model year 2007. My XK was built in 9/06 as a 2007 model. I have found no 2007’s with the automatic folding side mirrors and it’s not an option on the touch screen. I do however have the smart key that only works when it’s almost touching the car and since watching your video found out my global close option won’t work even though it’s on in the touch screen. Global open works fine. 😢
    Thanks again,
    Jay

    Paul when I bought mine I was advised to lock twice to save car battery life . If locked once some thing in the background still runs for a while when you have left the car 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @craigodonnell6316
      @craigodonnell6316 11 месяцев назад +1

      And I've read that double locking can lead to sudden battery death, which many XK owners have experienced myself included. Any ideas Paul? 🤔

    • @life_on_cars
      @life_on_cars  11 месяцев назад +1

      I'm almost sure double locking will power the car down quicker than single locking. I don't think it will make much difference to battery life. For reference, I always double lock mine.

    Hi, love your jag videos. Just a heads up if you unlock the boot while the car is locked, then accidentally leave your key in the boot. The boot won't lock with the fob in the boot. I couldn't lock my boot and then realised I left my fob in the boot. That's how I found this feature.
    Regards
    Mark

      @life_on_cars mine is the x150 XKR. I thought my boot lock was shot until I realised ruddy key fob was in the boot. Massive relief.
      I guess they're the same.
      Keep up the good work!

    • @keithflynn5651

      That may only apply to cars with comfort access (smart key). The same applies if you leave the key in the vehicle and attempt to lock the car with the button on the door handle, it won't allow the car to lock with the key inside the vehicle. As I found out one day trying to lock the car and it not allowing me, until I realised I'd left the key inside lol, much to my relief as I was miles from home!

    My key fob is going through batteries like a kid goes through a bag of sweets. Started about 2 months ago. Put new battery in and all was well for about a fortnight then i started getting problems. Either the car won't start and a message comes up telling me the key fob can't be found, or the car will start but then a message comes up saying key fob battery is low. I cant understand why the battery is running out of power so quickly. Ive put 3 batteries in it in 2 months. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't want to go to the dealer yet as i know they'll charge the earth to look into it!
