Leeza forgiving Joe for accidentally shooting and paralyzing her was probably my fave scene. Amazing monologue. Great writing. And this girl can act, man...
The character Bev was the most terrifying, the way she used the ‘word’ to justify EVERYTHING. The way this mirrors religion and its leaders is a thousands times scarier than a Vampire. Too real - didn’t shed a tear when the sun rose on her.
The real motive behind this movie is an attack on the Catholic Church (CC), the notion of God and religion. It is quite obvious. The character of Bev symbolizes this whole concept. Many people believe that the Catholic Church is the Vatican which in fact is not. Jesus Christ is the head of the Catholic Church and the Vatican 'administers' what Christ bestowed on the twelve apostles. Since the CC is made up of people too, it has an inclination to good and evil. It is a mixed bunch. One famous writer said, "There is enough good in the CC to go to heaven and enough evil to go to hell." This reality is in all churches around the world, Orthodox and Protestant. We hear a lot of scandals within the CC because it is the only church in the world that opposes abortion, divorce etc. and many people do not like 'her voice'.
Bev represented everything Jesus would have hated. The piousness, self indulgent and narcissistic way she honors herself as Gods mouth piece. She is everything of what’s wrong with religion on this earth and why it’s so dangerous. I loved watching her burn. I think she had a moment of clarity too right before when she realized what she had become and how scared she was of her judgement
@@megan873 I agree with you about Bev but what admire is that she so loved her church she was willing to do everything to save face. But some of Bev's militant behaviour can be found in me and you. That's what I love about Mike Flanagan! He doesn't create horror by giving us cheap jump scares (there are little to none actually), it's more about character development, meaning of life and death and goes beyond what one would expect! Really enjoyed the message it conveyed, can't wait for more of his masterpieces!
What Flanagan does is he *does* sometimes use jump scares, but, he does what James Wan does-it’s a valid, real scare, not a cheap gimmick to make you jump-it’s not a shadow behind the door, there’s really something behind the door, etc.
He doesn't use a lot of blood and gore either. It's like he's breaking the rules of horror and making something that is even more horrific. And it sticks with you. He's master at the craft, and I will watch anything he puts out there.
Almost everyone was into the Squid Game hypetrain, while my wife and I sat for about 7 hours devouring this new Flanagan masterpiece. The actors delivered so well, particularly Samantha Sloyan’s Bev. That was just a normal old-school vampire, it checks all of the boxes (bat-like creature, uncontrollable thirst for blood, can turn others into the same beast, heals and rejuvenates the victims that turn). That was the point of the show, I think, because of their extreme faith they saw an "horrid beast" as their holy savior.

this is masterpiece! just don't compare with hill house and bly manor.
The plot got lost so easily
Masterpiece lol okay. It's one of the shittiest, predictable, low effort series I've ever seen. Made for simpletons

Well... Hill House and Midnight Mass are really masterpieces. Bly Manor was a great show, but these two are on another level. Actually, I think Midnight Mass is the best show of this year (for me, of course) just like Hill House was when it came out.
My favourite is hill house, then midnight mass. Bly manor is last
Idk who will see this from the show but I love it. Great characters, great story, great show.
Genuinely the best show I've watched on Netflix.
Loved every frame of this amazing series. The people were so real and vulnerable.
i’m already looking forward to another mike flanagan movie 💓 he really knows how to convey each character’s feelings and the whole catholic thing hits hard bcs it’s just so realistic speaking as a catholic myself
Just finished the series and I love it, worth every minute
Flanagan's best work to date, and that says a lot!
I need an entire show where Erin Greene just gives monologue about her insights in life
I can't stop thinking about this show.
I have to say, I wasn't scared at all watching this... But I think it was the best of Mike Flanagan's Netflix series so far
I'm just blown away by the acting, especially father paul.
This show was sooo amazing! Binged the whole thing in one sitting.
This cast is full of amazing actors. Literally no one was lacking
SO POLISHED SO WELL MADE AND OMG THE MORAL BEHIND ALL THESE, THIS IS THE BEST DRAMA SERIES OF THE YEAR HANDS DOWN !!!!!! ^0^
Man, the more I think about it, the better this series gets. So glad that Mike got to a point in his career where he was able to produce this masterpiece.
I finished the show oddly divided. One part of me was questioning religions as they are. The other part was thinking of how utterly delicious Hamish Linklater was as Father Paul.
Best series released on Netflix this year by far, so slept on
Pls bring more of these awesomeness.❤️
This was such a beautiful, amazing show! Flanagan really outdid himself on this! Great story, actors/ actresses, sets, everything was perfect!
I really hope that both Linklater and Sloyan win an award or something!
I love this mini series so much. It really hits home. And it really impresses me. The writing is phenomenal, and the accuracy of the portrayal of Catholicism is unparalleled. (I’m also a former Roman Catholic)
Every role in this series was perfectly cast, but man alive, Hamish Linklater is a revelation! (No pun intended.)
This show completly caught me off-guard, got into it with no expectations. Came out surely having witnessed a masterpiece. I haven´t tasted that blood but if it is as adictive as this miniserie, i don´t blame those people. My sincere congratulations.
GOD DAMN WAS SOOOOOO GOOD , LOOOOVED IT ....SOOOO detailed & WELL WELL DONE , LOOOVE this guy, have all his movies & these series he made in NETFLIX ON blurays..., JUST masterpiece right after each other , I HOPE HE NEVER STOP doing this for NETFLIX, this Midnight MESS WOW was sooo good , EVEN the camera shots, lighting ,the mood the sound audio, cast f*n everything was TOP notch masterpiece period ! What a show! I have no words
The best show of the year. Can't stop thinking about it.
Love Flanagan and his awesome returning cast!!! THE BEST thing on TV period!
