  • If you’re in need of an antenna analyzer for your home-brew or tunable antenna systems, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money at the Mighty Fine Junk (MFJ) store. The NanoVNA, at about 20% the cost of the Rig Expert analyzer, might be a good pick for you.
    Here are links to my Amazon Affiliates account where you can purchase many of the items discussed in the video. Using these links will not add anything to your cost, but Amazon will give me a small commission that helps to offset the costs of making these videos.

    Thanks, Nano came with a flowchart but without instructions, so this is a perfect get started video as I was able to key in to my Nano your step by step instructions and get the same screens coming up.

    Tom, great video and explanation (These devices come with no documentation at all!). One note on calibrating, with your cable attached in a way you are subtracting the effect of the cable on the response of your antenna, this is ok for trimming lets say your dipole length but also you miss the opportunity to see the effects of your cable. I have tried both methods and prefer to measure the whole system instead of only the effect of the antenna. I store two calibrations, one with the actual field cable and other just done at the ports.

    Thanks for the Nano Vna video. I just got one and my first impression was uh oh, I am in trouble. Your set of instructions was very helpful in understanding how to interpret the information that is being displayed. 73 KD4FJ

    Good video. I have had 2 nanoVNA’s. I love the features of them over the simpler rigExpert. They are more fiddly to setup and sometimes harder to see in sunlight. But I love how I can get a smith chart and display what I need. I have also checked for length of cable with my old NanoVNA. Thanks for your video! 73 de KI5HXM

    I think you showed me what I was doing wrong. I was not connecting the NanoVNA to the end of the cable I use to connect to my antenna. I just configured it locally with the short adapter cable.

    When you were calibrating, where is the other end of the jumper cable connected to? Were you connecting the open, short, and load to the end of the antenna which is not connected to the Nano? Confusing.

    • @ND3N
      @ND3N  10 месяцев назад

      The jumper cable is used for strain relief, and is included in the calibration process.

    • @ND3N
      @ND3N  Год назад +1

      Yes, the cable acts as a strain relief for the device

    How do I enable the range on the right side of the screen?

    Please don't set up for SWR measurement. Set up for return loss. It is the same information presented in a far more useful and usable format.
