    The size of these things is just amazing! So much more versatile for special applications than a desktop or even a laptop.
    I like it. 🙂👍🏻

    Why is the board layout between the slim and s version different for the wifi card? Why no thermal and noise performance or comparison with other 4800U mini pcs?

    Incredible disappointment. This device is unfortunately unacceptable noisy even at idle. The settings in the BIOS are very limited, the silence mode does not particularly improve the situation. I strongly do not recommend to buying it. I am very disappointed that after the purchase I did not immediately test its noise level. I would definitely return it to the seller if I had known this earlier.

      Fan noise?

    • @volk22
      @volk22 Год назад

      @@Sunstepa Of course. In my opinion in modern devices this is the only source of noise.
      By the way, this PC does not always successfully wake up from hibernation mode and I no longer hope to cope with it.

      I bought gb-brr7h-4800, equipped it with 1 tb nvme (crucial), 64 gb of ram, and usually run it with ubuntu-20.04. And I am very satisfied.
      It had the problem of particularly irregular noise due to physical reasons, but I resolved it by opening and adjusting the "chassis" (?) that covers the fan (was touching the fan). As for the usual noise, that I hate, I did the following:
      found, and anyway the second one wrote myself, app/script that regulates the frequencies of all / singular cpus, and what's more important script and relative button (on the desktop panel) to switch on/off the boost function of the whole processor. Here it is with boost disabled, with the processor going onDemand from 1.4 to 1.8 GHz and there's no fan noise. As soon as I activate boost the fan starts to make some noise. I am extremely fine even at 1.4
      So you should open it and adjust (gently!) that plastic chassis that encloses the fan if it seems that something scratches, search and install a utility for enabling / disabling boost. Another hint (tried right now): it is enough to set it to "Conservative" to not have it rising frequencies (so fan too) when idle or under short loads. Btw here is not that loud in boost mode.
      Anyway I am going to fix the fan issue (inventing something).
      This wonderful minipc is equivalent to a laptop, and the fan is a laptop's type. You are not going to find a totally silent for this price and size.
      I almost never switch it off. I never use hibernate, but use suspend. Had problems only once with wake up. Be sure to have updated drivers from gb site if you use windows.

    Build one with 2 intel nics for pfsense and post it on the pfsense reddit throw in the embedded ryzen and it will fly off the shelves, this one is uninteresting and one of many mediocre mini PCs not build for the customer of this devices but the general public. But the general public buys normal PCs 95% of the time.
