    14:24 to make it easier to open a tight lid, hit the edge of the lid on the chopping board a little bit hard, or use a butterknife, or teaspoon, and wedge it just under the lip of the lid to pop it up slightly thereby releasing the vacuum pressure. Don't wear yourself out like how you did.

    I once got stuck for over an hour with not being able to open a jar of alfredo sauce 😅. Eventually, I realized that a lot of pressure had built up under the lid. So, I used a sharp knife and poked a tiny hole in the lid. This instantly released the pressure and I could open the jar and FINALLY finish dinner 😂. But this method might not be good if you still need to keep the jar (I'm not sure what you could seal the hole with that would still ensure the food inside didn't spoil). They have devices that help with opening jars and one of these days, I'm going to get one! My aching fingers will thank me.
    Also, I'm jealous you got snow! I live in the south of the U.S., so we don't get snow very often. Cute that your huband actually made a snowman as well! 😊 Hope you have a safe and warm weekend!

    To open jars, I use a little silicone jar opener. It looks like a potholder but it’s made of silicone, which allows you to grip the lid tighter and twist it without hurting your hands! Hope this helps :-)

  • @earldumarest234
    @earldumarest234 10 месяцев назад +22

    For the jar lid, stick the tip of a butter knife (a rounded end table knife) under the edge and twist slightly. That will break the seal and the lid will unscrew easily. You just need to flex the metal rim of the lid in other words.

    For jars with metal lids like that, I tend to hit the edge of the lid with a knife at a few spots around the rim, and try to twist the lid after a few hits! It sometimes takes a bit, but sometimes I can it it once or twice and then it opens!

    Hanako-san, you worked hard this week, as always! 💪🏽 Thanks for sharing Husband-san's yummy bentos with us despite the cold weather. 🤭 I have a friend who now lives in Tokyo and he was so happy when it snowed. 😂
    I love sesame oil so much, so I sympathize with its rising prices. 🥲 But I'll send prayers your way such as "I hope Hanako-san finds a good buy 1 take 1 deal soon!" 😂 And before I forget, when a jar lid is being stubborn, I like to hit it gently but persistently on another surface. The friction from every contact will cause the lid to expand, making it easier to open! 💪🏽 It's a proven science. 👍🏽
    Anyway, please stay warm and be healthy, Hanako-san! 💓

    I giggled way too much at how the green onions were falling off the knife and out of the bowl. The sound effects are super cute LOL That stew looked absolutely AMAZING!! I've been told to try gochujang for a kimchi fried rice recipe, and I want to but I'm super nervous it might be too spicy for my stomach. My body dislikes spicy things, but I absolutely adore the taste of it ;;;;;

    • @annek7262
      @annek7262 10 месяцев назад

      gochujang is slightly sweet as well as spicy. Start really small, like 1/8 or 1/4 tsp for a pan of kimchi fried rice. You can always add more until you find the right amount. I love gochujang and use it a LOT. I make hot and sour soup at home (because there are no places to get it here that anyone should be eating at) and instead of using chili flakes, I use gochujang and miso in it. It makes for a really nice depth of flavor without the chili pepper bits that can get stuck in your teeth. Bibigo makes a really gentle gochujang in a squeeze bottle that is sweeter than a lot of the more traditional gochujangs, but it's the one I often buy and use if I know that I'm cooking for someone who doesn't like or can't handle a lot of spice. It's much sweeter than the gochujang that I normally have in the fridge, but it is a nice flavor.

    I love all these videos! They're so relacing and enjoyable to watch, and they always make me hungry! This may not work for you but, just in case, if your steamer basket is too small for both dishes you can sometimes use a ramekin beside the first dish. Set it upside down next to the first dish of eggs, and then the second may be able to fit on the ramekin, although it will be slightly higher! Also, for a stubborn jar, hold the glass jar in an oven glove/oven mitt over the sink, and pour boiling water over the metal lid only. The hot water will make the metal explan slightly, and that can help break the seal without damaging the lid!

    I like making chicken and rice in the rice cooker (you confused my bird who is watching with me. She knows that rice cooker song and is now expecting hot rice in about an hour. She is going to be very unhappy when no rice appears.) I usually find that I prefer to add 8-12 cloves of garlic, since the garlic flavor is so mild when cooked like that. I also add a splash of soy sauce to the water, just to add some flavor, and if I have them, I add some dried mushrooms (and a little extra water, since I put the mushrooms in dry.) That way I get mushroom garlic rice and chicken. Really nice in the summer when I do not want to heat up the kitchen to make dinner.

    It's okay, until I started dealing with aquatic plants in my aquariums, I was really bad at caring for live plants. I once told a coworker about how I let a cactus die, and she said to me, "That's advanced plant killing", lolol.

      Thank you for your kind comment and for the question, dreamcatcher!!
      If you have a smaller frying pan you can make tamagoyaki with it. But it may be a little more difficult, tho...
      First, pour about half of the egg mixture into the pan, as if you were making thinly fried eggs.
      When the eggs are set, fold the left and right ends a little first, to make the thinly fried egg into a rectangle, then roll it toward the front.
      This explanation may be confusing, so I will send you the URL of how to make it.

      It's written in Japanese, but I think you can use the translation function in the setting tab. I hope it help you out!
