Its time to start telling the truth about Warren Buffett, yes he is super massively successful but I never ever hear anyone talk about the losses that he has sustained as an investor. Knowing a persons weakness and losses are just as important as a persons wins in fact the losses in my opinion are more important. All the commentary about Warren Buffet is like a fairy tale. If I had the opportunity to spend all day reading books and talking on the phone about investment deals I think lots of people would be like Warren Buffet in fact better. Stay out of the matrix, avoid the illusion these guys are peddling as they fantasize about their favorite investor, we have no idea what kind of power, insider information or advantage Buffett really has the reason I say this is because all you hear is good information about Buffett which makes me highly skeptical because real life is NEVER like that for anyone including Jesus.
The people who have done it always throw these gotchas at you. The 5/25, 80/20 etc etc. They make interesting reading but are not helpful. They were successful due to a variety of factors that are all not easily replicable. Call it being in the right place at the right time, picking the right womb, being born at a certain period of human development, born in the right place etc etc. These set of conditions are so unique that trying to replicate them would be madness. Reading through Bill Gates and Steve Jobs' biography, you realize that they were creative people but also very lucky people. They always had the right people and circumstances to begin with.
"Success leaves clues" and this is why it's so important to analyze the activities of successful people. Warren Buffet is one of the most quoted people and he deserves it so! I really enjoyed this short clip on his decision making. It's vital information for all of us.
I did this 2 years ago and I can tell that it's a hard thing to do especially if you are under 30 and you are not really sure in what direction you should go. Still...it will help you to make a better idea about priorities. You will understand even better if you have priorities in life and if you do which are those. You will come back to that list numerous times and you will realize it was a super interesting and useful exercise. Excellent movie, man!
Outsmart & Outwork how do you feel it applied to your top 5 goals? I agree with your point as well, I’m 23 and my goals change every day and it’s hard.
Maybe a modification of this rule is to make this list at regular intervals (say, every week), and then after a year, tally the number of times a goal remains in the Top 5. That could help indicate which goals you truly hold long-term.
Jordyn Ross love. U need love. U don’t love your list you only fantasize about it. You need touch n dirt n calm grounding. Here do this: do nothing but eat n pay bills n stop escaping... You will feel pain now. You will want to escape... Do not escape. Wish for nothing. Now.... live a little more... now start gratitude for things you appreciate... Repeat for months... Now what actually calls to you needs/wants/likes wise? Some things you need. Safe apt location n clean air or positive home n cleanliness? Job or more cash actually ? Some things you want ... super passions n your willing to live with them like motorcycle in your living room as functional art... a deep passion that your cool paying n working for n living with... Likes: stuff that’s cool or really cool but whimsical however interesting enough to try sometimes like going to some reptile or historic fair show, or event or a weird ice cream place 100 miles away... The need fuels you to survive The want warms you to live The like delights you to play What your doing friend is over focusing on play n stuffing lots of life in there that needs be in the other categories. For me I wanted like 10 bikes n could not choose... why can’t I buy them all? Time, energy and money... is why. Also because I have needs n likes that would be ruined by too much passion for example. I suffered great anguish over what to choose for true needs, wants n likes... I moved off sports bikes and onto cruisers... I changed my work habits to afford time to ride. I got more fit so I can ride better. I got better credit and savings so I can own, win and use... Then now I was confronted with the truth... do I really want to ride need to ride or lolento ride... what if I get hurt.... it’s allot of money... what if this doesn’t make my life better? Love saved me. I love to journey n find new places. 😎. I love to be alone off a mountain trail an breath the air and think on my life and enjoy the animals both safe n dangerous to be aware off😎. I like really appreciate motorsports😎. I know the deep skills involved of on going safety n find that challenge great n rewarding 😎. I like the sounds n experiences.😎. I see not riding as a harm to my person both physically and lifestyle wise and a limiter to my true self 😎. If I die or am hurt than I must risk this consciously😎. I play hard but am also smart n ride safe allot too 😎. I want to be sore from fitness but not be limited in my bike or riding (get a cruiser).😎 I want to feel happy even when just chillen n blinging (get a cruiser)😎. I want to rip it up occasionally (get a sporty ass cruiser) 😎. I want to see events n shows from a bikers perspective but also to rip to the beach n mountains (cruiser works)...😎 This was my need. A love. Only love taught me my true needs. Yes it’s in the wants carigory but I learned I needed this for my whole lifestyle. It’s a core want. Pay dirt want. Took me 5 years to learn this. Now I’ll travel for a rare ice cream cone or delightful street to take a walk on 50-100 miles away on a Sunday. It supports my whole week to go for that like of the icreceam or to walk some rare and interesting street. I would not do it in a car. Now I’m fueled across categories but the need one actually... My core need is to serve you happiness or help to move you into that direction more often than had you not met me. I can live without my bike but I can’t live without helping people grow happier. It’s all interchangeable however for me needs allow me to live, wants keep me warm and allow me to stay alive easier and likes give me guidance to light pleasures or basic direction of play. That play crowns my personhood with honor and confidence and a belonging to myself as never before. All Categories Add Up N Fuel The Others. Take everything away. Stop wishing. Use gratitude routinely. See what calls to you. All is interesting but all is not love. What you love more will emerge. Motorcycling is one of my lifestyle loves... I have a couple more... that is all. I’m awesome at these things. That is love. Greed wants it all and sacrifices for little. Sacrifice is to give up really good for amazing great. Sacrifice all the stuff for some power passions. Only chose what you can enjoy on your own even if others don’t praise you. Now I had no idea but women like Harley’s. That’s cool. I dig. Choosing love also blessed me with a bike that’s hot to women... not a bike that seams dangerous n just a toy. I would like a Ducati 959 to track... but I live n breath with my H-D FatBob 2019 114 Scorched Orange n Denim Black because I can’t live on like and it would break down the triad of power I received from this one life passion of cruising. A passion I was hiding from within. Covered up by race envy of my dads previous lifestyle n top rankings... Any choice is a valuable choice. We exclude with decision. We fear responsibility. To say this and not that! However it is a art to choose... get active on this art... re read my words here to you. Calm down. Your healing allot. Not just some choice. Your clearing panic, your clearing busy work that fails, your clearing loser hood which occurs by not focusing, your clearing failure which comes from wrong decisions done as a habit not a one time wrong decision... your cleaning up every mistake that’s put into you from school, parents society and your own self... You finding the well within and learning to drink deeply... you will be happy thru this process. It’s a sacrifice to do this process. 1thing to give up is frustration... in place of calm resolve... email me to get more structure to this share of care KaramLevi@gmail.com
Well on the other hand, if you're 30 or older, you may have already lost your life. At this age many goals are impossible to accomplish anymore. Successful people start their careers early and never stop.
I believe one of the main reasons why people don't achieve that much in their life, is due to a lack of focus. This exercise makes you laser focus on what you really want out if life.
You could also take it a step further. After you finish the exercise and have your 5, take each one and for each one write out 25 things you can do to achieve them. Then prioritize and work your way down them. That way you can see the top 20% of things you'll need to do to achieve each one right off the bat and start making dents in your goals in the fastest and most effective way
Who ever said it first I agree 'less is more". Life is just too short to do it all, focus on the things you want to do most and you will be more relaxed and move towards your most important objectives with better focus.
This may be fine advice but it was never offered by Buffett. I've seen this many places, so I can understand how many believe the source is Buffett but it is not. He was asked about this a few years ago at the Berkshire meeting. "How did you come up with this idea?".... Buffett's response, I'd like to know how you came up with it because I have never heard of it till now, and I don't think I have ever made a list in my life"
@@DiscoFang I appreciate the fact that you too were skeptical of Buffet saying this, but I must strongly disagree. Even if he did say it, he would likely say it more in an encouraging context rather than a forced expectation upon every human being. He too should know that we have free will, and there are other successful people who believe similarly to the quote as well. Besides, the only thing wrong here is not "forcing" people to chase goals, but discouraging them. I believe everyone must have a great dream or at least a vision they want for their life. Why is it wrong to encourage people to seek goals? How can it even be condescending? Those who are merely "content", staying in the same place in their life never taking a risk or change do not live. For they are dead. To live life content and safe from what you cannot foresee, like a life without end, can no longer be called life. It is merely an accumulation of experiences. Men who think this way truly are dead.
Funny, the whole setup/story from the start also surprised me to come from Warren Buffet. He is not like this at all from my studies. He is smart but not a wise teacher like Confutze. It could have been a person like Confutze that had said that.
"The Third Door" is a book that includes a story about this - the author gets the advice in this video thinking it came from Buffett. When he asked Buffett about it, Buffett had no idea what he was talking about.
so if the list is false, what makes everyone in this response panel think the interaction even took place at all? We are basically watching an interaction and explanation that never happened and taking it all at face value.
I work in software development. We often have around 25 things which are important, and try to narrow down our top 5 priorities. However - we might still do the other 20 if they are tiny tasks - or work on them from time to time when we hit a snag in our main task. If my main #1 task takes hundreds of hours and my #20 task takes 30 minutes, I might squeeze in that #20 task. It would be silly to keep it waiting 30 weeks if it's so tiny. If I my colleague is sick and I need them to do my main task, I'll put it on hold - cause it's more efficient to do other things which I can do solo. There are plenty of times when I find a small issue which is unimportant at the moment, but unless they are dealt with right away they will grow in the future. So sometimes I must give up focus from my main task to not give myself debt in the future.
How I'll approach this... over a quarter-calender period (3 months) I'll focus on the top goal then once those 3 months are gone I'll move on to the next goal on the list. Pursue that goal on my down time, try to think about every day at the very least. It is important to recognize that not all days will be huge progressions or if any however by having the notion that I should be doing 'XYZ' in my head, is a nice guideline to have. Its also healthy to acknowledge that maybe at the beginning I really wanted to do said-thing then you may discover its truly not for you or what you thought you wanted etc. So I like the idea I'm not stuck doing something I'm not inspired by anymore. We'll see how this goes.
This is like a kind of minimalism for life: focus on what matters most to you, and put on hold or even eliminate the other things. You might find that some of the other 20 might not matter anymore when you're super-deep into the first 5. Thanks for the video!
This makes sense. Our are powerful and focusing is an obviously good solution, but focus is what's difficult. I believe social media, video games, movies etc, have destroyed much society because our ability to focus has been damaged and our minds are polluted with stupid fantasies induced by the media. I will apply this technique!
Very simple people, it takes discipline and dedication. It's how at age 40 I decided to play guitar and get in a band. 6 years later I'm in a bar band doing local shows. That's not possible without practicing at least 90 minutes a day for 4 plus years. I would have to double that to get where I want on guitar but I stopped for now until I'm retired. I also was into weight lifting for 17 years. All anybody does is watch TV and make excuses. Make the time, take it from wherever. Do the goal first and let the rest of your life have the leftover time.
My problem is I don’t really have one thing (in terms of a hobby or a career at least) that I’m extremely enthusiastic about and would want to fully commit to. I guess I’m afraid if I pick something and start going down that path, I won’t be able to turn back. I feel like I would be completely locked into it forever. Lack of possibilities scares me.
Wow this can be life changing for me. I seldom finish my priorities in to do list it makes me bitter and lowers self confidence. I am going to apply 5:25. Thank you
I say enjoy a few things in life, even if they are free, the sun, the weather, people you enjoy to be with. Don't stress yourself out, go with the flow of life.
I was alarmed at the point in the video when they asked him to list 25 goals as I wouldn't be able to list that much. I thought they were wrong or I am dead wrong when it comes to goals. In the end, it turned out alright because if I did the exercise, I only can only write two.
The goal could be something as simple as shaving, or going to the gym, or cleaning your room. If you spent enough time you'd be able to list 25 things, they just wouldn't mean very much by the end of the list. Thats the point.
Im excited to see myself after an year by working on the things you are showing in your videos im happy that im getting the answers and doing efficiently Keep up the good work 🙂
The 5/25 Rule makes sense. However, it is superficial. Let's say, "Spend time with family" is in your top 5. Great. Now how do you do that most effectively so that you're not, for example, sleeping on the couch while your spouse and kids are doing stuff? You will have to make a sub-list of 25 ways to spend time with your family and extract the top 5 ways out of that. Let's say one of the top 5 ways to spend time with your family is a Sunday afternoon drive. Okay, well, what are the top 25 drives you want to take? Let's say an hour drive to a specific town, and a picnic in a park is in the top 5. Now you have to list 25 things you want to accomplish regarding that trip. They could include, fill the car with gas, check tire pressure, make lunch, check the weather, pack everything needed. You can see that each one of these steps involves certain specific decisions. What underlies the 5/25 rule? Since the rule branches out through several levels, what's needed more than anything are information and organization. Assuming one of Buffett's top 5 things is financial soundness, most obviously underlying that is information and organization, and, of course, action. A first principle, then, is knowing how to learn and how to organize. Without those skills, it doesn't matter what's in your top 5 or all the top 5s branching out of each top 5.
Mrs. Warren, in my 2 thim i finding to relays my problems, but I have, primo my English or American to learn for myself and to be a part of my life and layter too begin to understand, thank you for speech, Giusti
There are a few Fatal flaws with this.. Although focussing has great potential... If you dont know what to focus on your life could be a nightmare... We all know what we want but , none of us know what will be the best outcome for us.. that's why wisdom and clarity will be more worthwhile than trying to attain what you think will be good.. for instance people think that money will make there life awesome ( well thats what a fool thinks), when in fact learning to meditate would be much more beneficial..
Keep in mind, the advice of successful people only increases your odds or success, but by far does not guarantee it. Successful people r the exception, many more people have failed doing nearly the exact same behaviors attempting to reach the same goals. Successful people often neglect to honor how much pure luck played into their success, and often a confluence of many lucky strokes got them where they r. It is way more important to enjoy the life u have while u r working toward your goals than it is to actually achieve your goals. Happiness is not a destination and life is not a journey to it. Life is more like a song and happiness is more like the choice to dance.
What if my goals are dependent upon one another? For example, I’m trying to chose between being organized and being financially stable. It seems to me that getting my finances together will require organization. Could it be just one goal? And what about my goal of becoming physically and mentally healthier? It seems to me that to do so will probably cause many other goals on my list to occur naturally, because becoming healthier impacts EVERYTHING.
If your goals are dependent on one another, such as being organized and financially stable: That is why you create a routine, something you can do consistently. You can do those tasks in parallel because they are one goal. To be financially stable does require you to do have some organization skills. Even in terms of health, incorporating fitness and a healthy diet will improve your mental health which will positively impact your education and goals to be financially stable. Well that is my take on it

Very good video. I think most people have dreams,. They are fluffy and abstract and makes us feel good. Most aren't willing to pay the price to make those dreams to come true. It is like earning to make a living rather than living to make a life. This video helps in using time wisely by focussing on things that truly will have an impact of what we want and what we will become.
This video came, for me, literally minutes after writing a 20-item “Skills to Master by 30” list 😂🙈 (I’m 24) I read a comment on here about those of us in our 20’s who don’t yet know what we want in life, so I’d like to speak to that: I think this exercise jives quite nicely with one from Ryder Carroll’s Bullet Journal Method (mentioned more in the book than the basic journaling tutorials). He talks about getting focused on next-step action items on our interests. Having a clear starting place allows us to actually jump into learning the new skill and evaluate whether we even want to continue with it after a trial, rather than leaving it to gather dust on a daunting, vague “someday” list. So for those of us who are young and/or cannot narrow down the list, perhaps we should try the first step of some of the items on it, and then ruthlessly scratch items off from there once we have a taste. That way we can make informed decisions!
In Alex Banayan's book The Third Door, Banayan was taught this 5/25 rule by a "former Buffet Employee" and he went on to ask Warren Buffet how he came up with it. Buffet replied: "The question is, how did you come up with it?" Buffet didn't come up with this or know anything about it. The person who claimed to be working for Buffet was lying and never worked for Buffet
With the daily information overdose, we receive on a daily basis, to reduce your sources of information and the ability to focus on a few simple facts that you know to be true is essential. WB is a prime example of a person that uses narrow FOCUS on a particular subject to gain a competitive edge - he is not easily distracted!
5 out of 25, or 1 out of 5, or 20% of your goals are worth pursuing. How to determine your main purpose in life: Make your "bucket list" and imagine yourself lying on your deathbed, while looking at that list. Eighty percent of the stuff on that list you won't even care about, but twenty percent you probably will. Once you see those things staring you back in your face, you'll have a plan for what you need to do for the rest of your life. -- Sandman
5/25 IS the Pareto principle. He missed out the most CRITICAL point. What IS the 20% of your effort, that produces 80% of your results? They are : 1: Self improvement (education, research, practice ) 2: Planning
Yes it is "Management consultant Joseph M. Juran suggested the principle and named it after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who noted the 80/20 connection while at the University of Lausanne in 1896, as published in his first work, Cours d'économie politique. Essentially, Pareto showed that approximately 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle
No 20% is mental energy management without it you can't plan or self improve. Targeting your mental energy to perform productive habits every day for long hours a day.

@@dnomyarnostaw Mental energy management is the core. 20% of mental energy management and 80% action. Too much planning can be dangerous. Since the market is the one that decide is your plan success or need improvement, your perfect plan can be a failure. We have 25,000 to 50,000 thoughts a day. Your list will keep changing as time pass. I don’t think this is how life should work. The selective focus will narrow your view of the world. Just try everything spontaneously and see how it goes. Take a deep breath and enjoy.
I'm an "I can do everything all the time " kind of person... I am going to sit down and make this list to pick out the things I should be focusing on! Maybe this is the reason Im not getting where I am trying to go
It's silly to say "I can't do any dishes until I've reached my primary goal of making money." You can't let tiny and simple tasks wait forever just because you have unfinished top priority tasks. Besides - variation is fun. Endlessly working on the same 5 things can make you lose creativity. Taking an hour once in a while to work on other stuff is refreshing.
Yeah, I was actually going to say something just like this. There are benefits to having great focus but there's also so much to be gained from diversifying your experiences.
@@AnthonyMai True. Not the best example. A better one would be: if you're building a website and the primary goal is to build a login - I think you should still find some time once in a while to adjust the fonts etc. Like a few hours per week to "less essential work"
Thank you for these insightful videos. In my own life, it's my RUclips channel that is the one thing that matters and this video helped me to see how that needs to impact my life.
As an observer of PD principles I know that there tend to be contradictory theories. But I think personally I think this is one I need to follow. I tend to have zero follow through/commitment. so focusing on one thing is probably not a bad idea.
Good advice. There are so many distractions everyday. When we reviewed the whole day, we just found we achieved nothing. We need sort out priority and focus on something that is important and worthy in our life and work.
Abdul-Baha, a central figure in the Baha'i Faith had stated that a person should try to achieve the "most important" things and let the "important" things go.
Do the same steps but just pick the top 5 you think you want to do. Push through and reach those goals, and if you still don’t like them, move your way down the list
I remember watching an interview where Warren Buffett denied having this kind of conversation. It's a nice story to illustrate the power of focus. But, where is the source?
Great! Focus is important. But how to think about the contrast to Gary Vaynerchuk‘s formula for success: to rather juggle 46 balls and being okay to drop 9 than to juggle one ball and making sure it doesn’t drop?
Productive distractions are also a tricky rationalization. Like yeah, I could complete 5 lessons on my front end developer career path, or I could watch self improvement videos, listen to philosophy audiobooks, watch riveting interviews with tech and industry titans and watch truth fighters engaging with the culture wars in the information space. The daily vision won't align with the events of the day, and the weekly vision won't align with the results of each day within it. To manifest from a distance of time is a real skill. Concieve the day ahead, act it into existence, record and measure your state changes, obstacles, mistakes, and continually self correct to align each day with a vision for the week. Then boom, youre already about 25% completed with being able to manifest the results of an entire month from the command of your own conscious will.
Most people are wise enough to know that if they want to achieve a goal they need to be persistent -focused. We don't need some rich dude to tell us that. The question most people struggle with is, 'is this the right choice I'm making?'Will this help me attain my goals?' Should I wait for a better opportunity?' Will there be another one?' etc. Having Focus is not enough. How do you decide between two or more paths? How do you know which one Will lead you to the attainment of your goals? Thats the real challenge. And no one can reach you that.
Biggest difference between rich and poor is information and work ethic. I’m saving a year and some months worth of money so I can focus on how can I make 100k in my bank account. Just need to stay focus plenty of money out there to get and the knowledge is all out there just need to apply and go get it.
I had a problem with this when I was young. I had it in mind to find what i was natural at.. i should have just kept improving on any one of the things i chose to pursue.
Cassette Walkman : Exactly! I agree with you. If information is presented as “This is what super successful person X does that you’re not doing”, then make sure that the information is true. You can’t just say: “Oh, well, it’s a total fabrication, but still good advice, right?” No, it’s a lie. The fact that doing the exercise may still have value isn’t relevant to the discussion about how the story was completely made up.
@DrNawMai To me it seems like a high risk exercise. I am already beginning to implement a few proven techniques. This is life changing. Since we barely have any time when we are caught up in working hourly jobs, I try to reach my bigger goals through hobbies. I am fine with cutting everything else put, if it is truly worth it. I do agree with focusing on less, at a time. I feel like that is why I am actually beginning to make progress. I probably misunderstood your wording. I agree that is sounds like a good exercise. I appreciate the art of dishonesty, but I don't trust advice stemmed from lies. I am also afraid of feeling less happy by not pursuing these longer term goals. If you do try it, I would be interested in an update or advice. Thank you
"The top five are my primary focus but the the others I will do as I see fit." Reply, "No." I felt the actual dissatisfaction that he had hearing the pilot explain that. I questioned why. Then recieved my answer.
Great stuff man. But I have a suggestion: remove those awkwardly long transition pauses. They're a crutch. You'd flow much more confidently without them.

Ok - I can write 174 things down. So limit it on 25 to begin with will be a challenge as well. And then 5 to chose. Great advise. Really - I don't know If I am able to do this. Seems like my whole system loves distractions and inspiration everywhere anytime. BUT 2019 just started - I will do it. Yes!
The main problem here is that it is not specified what kind of items can be put there. You could create five items that are impossible to do at once. It is easy as well to not put something in the list by considering it implied.
An interesting argument, but often the greatest opportunities come from unexpected directions. It's not a mere matter of investing more time and effort into a singular pursuit; sometimes, having an open mind and being willing to try new things creatively can lead to fantastic results. In Warren Buffett's case, I'm not sure how much creativity and innovative thinking financial speculation involves.
realistically we lots of time but we should figure out how long each goal will take and if it should get done sooner or later. consider that building a family was on your list. it makes sense to do that sooner than later and there is more work to be done raising and caring for your family after you accomplish your goal. consider another accomplishment for you is that your kids grow up to be good people. this list doesn't really work for goals like that.

Reading through Bill Gates and Steve Jobs' biography, you realize that they were creative people but also very lucky people. They always had the right people and circumstances to begin with.
And of course not knowing when another act of God will hit the economy.
A Who Snackbar Yes, yes, yes. I realized the same thing reading through Tools of Titans.

Thanks for the shortcut.

Ur so pathetic. This isn’t a joke. Get it together loser
"Success leaves clues" and this is why it's so important to analyze the activities of successful people. Warren Buffet is one of the most quoted people and he deserves it so! I really enjoyed this short clip on his decision making. It's vital information for all of us.
5 years since seeing this, it saved my life. And I am 180° from where I was 5 years ago
In a world full of distractions, selective focus and patience is key to succeed.
I agree 100% with you focus is everything. Stay away from cheap dopamine hits.
Does that really need to be said, given the video explains that?
I'm with you on that too. I also wanna add that finding the right cause or goal for all the hard work and determination can be quite challenging.
Perseverance!
This vid in a nutshell
ironically had to replay this several times as could not focus
Haha !!
Me too. Does it make you feel ill when you can't focus. I do😳
I did this 2 years ago and I can tell that it's a hard thing to do especially if you are under 30 and you are not really sure in what direction you should go.
I applied this ever since I learned the 80/20 rule. I narrowed it down further to the Rule of 3s.
The need fuels you to survive
The want warms you to live
The like delights you to play
What your doing friend is over focusing on play n stuffing lots of life in there that needs be in the other categories.
I want to see events n shows from a bikers perspective but also to rip to the beach n mountains (cruiser works)...😎
This was my need.
Successful people start their careers early and never stop.
you can do anything , but you can't do everything.
This is a very underrated comment
I like this
I believe one of the main reasons why people don't achieve that much in their life, is due to a lack of focus. This exercise makes you laser focus on what you really want out if life.
Yes exactly I agree
Exactly.
You could also take it a step further. After you finish the exercise and have your 5, take each one and for each one write out 25 things you can do to achieve them. Then prioritize and work your way down them. That way you can see the top 20% of things you'll need to do to achieve each one right off the bat and start making dents in your goals in the fastest and most effective way
I like this. Thanks.
💜
Mlm
Exactly.. So true !
OMG
5/25. Multiply by 4. You get 20/100. Basically, his rule is to focus on 20% of the most important tasks and ignore the other 80%.
Bye Buffet, it was the good ole Vilfredo Pareto all time long: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vilfredo_Pareto
Buffett's response, I'd like to know how you came up with it because I have never heard of it till now, and I don't think I have ever made a list in my life"
Sadly the uploader wont ever correct this
@@DiscoFang I appreciate the fact that you too were skeptical of Buffet saying this, but I must strongly disagree.

This is a profound truth. It's what truly separates the successful from the mediocre. And I struggle with it everyday.
How did it go?
This is like a kind of minimalism for life: focus on what matters most to you, and put on hold or even eliminate the other things. You might find that some of the other 20 might not matter anymore when you're super-deep into the first 5. Thanks for the video!
I made the experience that less is better, I try to focus on 2 important goals at a time.
Nice..Less is the new more..
I think the 80-20 rule is fantastic to use in life. I use it with everything in my own life and I've had great results.
This makes sense. Our are powerful and focusing is an obviously good solution, but focus is what's difficult. I believe social media, video games, movies etc, have destroyed much society because our ability to focus has been damaged and our minds are polluted with stupid fantasies induced by the media. I will apply this technique!
Dayuuuuuuuum, the music at the end made the whole video EPIC!
Youre a good in selecting music!
No, its 25 things you want to achieve. Not basic tasks. Its like this : learning to skydive, play the guitar, learn a new language etc.
Cassette Walkman are you being sarcastic?

I live how your videos don't just beat around the bush, but always provide valuable information. 👍
Will start listing my priorities right away! Thank you!

This channel is going to be in the millions of subscribers in a year if he keeps up this quality of content!

Yeah.. Will take 3 years with this pace.
Make a list of your priorities. Read it every morning for three days. Throw the list away. The things you remember will be your real priorities.
I am creating my own 5/25 myself now. Thank you for the video!
5 out of 25, or 1 out of 5, or 20% of your goals are worth pursuing.
How to determine your main purpose in life:
Make your "bucket list" and imagine yourself lying on your deathbed, while looking at that list.
Eighty percent of the stuff on that list you won't even care about, but twenty percent you probably will.
Once you see those things staring you back in your face, you'll have a plan for what you need to do for the rest of your life.

5/25 IS the Pareto principle.
He missed out the most CRITICAL point. What IS the 20% of your effort, that produces 80% of your results? They are :
1: Self improvement (education, research, practice )
2: Planning
80/20 isn't the true pareto principle
Yes it is
"Management consultant Joseph M.

You basically have to dumb down and stop overthinking and act and perform at full speed for long period of time. 70+ hours per week.
Your list will keep changing as time pass. I don’t think this is how life should work. The selective focus will narrow your view of the world. Just try everything spontaneously and see how it goes. Take a deep breath and enjoy.
Thanks for sharing your gift of this video. It simplified the 5/25 Rule very nicely & gave me actionable information. Much appreciated.
I have see the magic of Warren buffet and it still working
Well doing the dishes shouldn’t be a goal it’s something you do without thinking about or at least it should be
@@AnthonyMai True. Not the best example. A better one would be: if you're building a website and the primary goal is to build a login - I think you should still find some time once in a while to adjust the fonts etc. Like a few hours per week to "less essential work"
I agree with this concept. Whether it’s true or not doesn’t matter to me. Focus works. I’m living proof.
This seems very valuable, but I’m not sure what to focus on :/
Do the same steps but just pick the top 5 you think you want to do. Push through and reach those goals, and if you still don’t like them, move your way down the list
Kevin Espinoza good strategy, thanks!
@@DrAdnan have you even watched the video 😂😂😂
I remember watching an interview where Warren Buffett denied having this kind of conversation. It's a nice story to illustrate the power of focus. But, where is the source?
this exercise was soooo much fun! so good and so helpful. i am aware now. thank you ❤
Great! Focus is important. But how to think about the contrast to Gary Vaynerchuk‘s formula for success: to rather juggle 46 balls and being okay to drop 9 than to juggle one ball and making sure it doesn’t drop?
Thanks, I really need to delete a lot of things that make me feel nervous, but I don't have time to deal with it
Productive distractions are also a tricky rationalization.
Awesomely I’ll do my list right now. Thanks
Great video! I like the examples and stories, they really help with the understanding side. Keep up the good work!👍
Most people are wise enough to know that if they want to achieve a goal they need to be persistent -focused.
In other words, get your ass back to work and stop dicking around on the internet.
Awesome video.

Now, time to re focus & Prioritize!
beautiful and helpful video
Biggest difference between rich and poor is information and work ethic. I’m saving a year and some months worth of money so I can focus on how can I make 100k in my bank account. Just need to stay focus plenty of money out there to get and the knowledge is all out there just need to apply and go get it.
Love the video; FYI, someone in the annual meeting asked Warren about this story, he said he never heard of it, anyway doesn’t matter
Thanks for summing up. Good reminder
I had a problem with this when I was young. I had it in mind to find what i was natural at.. i should have just kept improving on any one of the things i chose to pursue.
First video I watched, immediately subscribed, excellent video!
That was an interesting outlook. I do things a bit differently but there are some elements that I can apply to my strategy.
Awesome video! Definitely got me taking notes!
Fantastic video! Came just in time for me!
Thank you!
Great and timely advice.
the real question is, where is mike flynt now?

Cassette Walkman : Exactly! I agree with you. If information is presented as “This is what super successful person X does that you’re not doing”, then make sure that the information is true. You can’t just say: “Oh, well, it’s a total fabrication, but still good advice, right?”
No, it’s a lie. The fact that doing the exercise may still have value isn’t relevant to the discussion about how the story was completely made up.
@DrNawMai Have you tried it? Do you know of anyone who has tried it?
Thank you
Whether Warren Buffett said this or not, the lesson in this story is helpful for someone like me. Time to make my list!
I have used this rule for my 2020 plan
Thanks for the book recommendation.
Currently learning Russian and on my first and a half year already.
Gonna try this!
"The top five are my primary focus but the the others I will do as I see fit." Reply, "No." I felt the actual dissatisfaction that he had hearing the pilot explain that. I questioned why. Then recieved my answer.
What was your answer?
Clayton J. Foor - Singer and Songwriter - You'll find it in the video my friend. Lol I was referring to the section in the video.
Interesting how 5/20 rule translates to 20/80 principle when multiplied by 4.
You actually multiplied the fraction by 1, and expanded it by 4. The value stayed the same... just saying
This is great. I have the tendency to wanting to have it all or do it all :(
Great stuff man.
Yes!
Was looking for this info for years! Thanks!

Add in energy n your video is 100%
All human growth starts with a leap into the darkness.
The main problem here is that it is not specified what kind of items can be put there. You could create five items that are impossible to do at once.
It is easy as well to not put something in the list by considering it implied.
Try read 4dx book. It's the same concept, but even better because the book makes it into a clear framework
Very well done, thank you.....Subscribed!
when some one asked mr warren buffett about same in Brk annual share holder meeting, he said he never gave any such advice.
realistically we lots of time but we should figure out how long each goal will take and if it should get done sooner or later. consider that building a family was on your list. it makes sense to do that sooner than later and there is more work to be done raising and caring for your family after you accomplish your goal. consider another accomplishment for you is that your kids grow up to be good people. this list doesn't really work for goals like that.
Awesome.
Loved your video.
Keep posting more such videos.

This reminds me of "focused investing" this is just "focused time use"
