- That’s another victory over Connecticut. And that’s another record for Hannah Hidalgo.
On Saturday, No. 15 Notre Dame (15-4) defeated No. 8 UConn (17-4) on its homecourt. It is Notre Dame’s second-consecutive victory over the Huskies, and it is Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Coach Niele Ivey’s first in Storrs.
Hannah Hidalgo broke Notre Dame’s single-game freshman scoring record, dropping 34 points against a top-10 team for the second time this season (South Carolina). The previous record of 33 was held by Michelle Marciniak and set in 1991.

Dropping a 3 pointer from right in front of Auriemma must have cut his heart out. A moment of beauty.
😂
SO happy for a VERY deserving team! I'm a Gamecock fam but ANY team that defeats PB and UConn are THE TEAM FOR ME!!!
I'm an Irish fan but any team that humbles Angel Reese, Kim Mulkey and her band of dysfunctional misfits in Baton Rouge is a team I can get behind! ☘️😎👊🏽
I wish I could agree, but if LSU crosses paths with UConn, UConn is going DOWN. F. Johnson is from my home state and I think she's one of the most dynamic and talented players out there today. I have a lot of respect or Mulkey and nothing will change that.@@CianAngelo
yeah, there is way too much athleticism and toughness there for the UConn of today to hang with them
@@RustyLou18 The LSU woman's team is certainly athletic and very talented, there's no arguing that part. I only wish that some of those young ladies were more humble and weren't so prone to drama, in the locker room and on social media. We are all certainly entitled to our own opinions regarding our favorite programs, whether said programs are our alma mater or simply a regional and/or conference affiliation.. At any rate, the SEC women's programs have really taken off in recent years and I'd argue surpassed their traditional powers/northern counterparts. Luckily for us yanks, the exact opposite is taking place in regards to college football in this era.. 😎👊🏽☘️
Lifetime Uconn fan and alumni. Have to give kudos to H. Hidalgo, all 5' 6" of her who played like a giant! Hate losing to Notre Dame but they deserved the V in this one. HH was amazing and a pleasure (as well as painful) to watch. She proved you don't have to be tall to be a giant!
Great win. Go Irish
Sonia Citron played all 40 minutes in the game and held Paige Bueckers, UConn's All-American, to 5 of 17 shooting. A great defensive effort that went totally unrecognized by the FOX TV announcers... ☘🏀☘
great bounce back win in a hostile environment! HH was magical, Maddy was magnificent! #GoIRiSH
TURN THE PAIGE ✅👀GO ND
Great TEAM win ladies! Not surprised been watching all season knew you had it in you seen it before. The way you closed out the game was impressive! Shamrocks for everyone GO IRISH! ☘️
Great win y’all! Let’s keep it going! Go Irish ☘️
I was a student at ND during the early 70s. This Hidalgo resembles a female Adrian Dantley to me! Good game!
Adrian Dantley never played defense. Hidalgo is a thief!
@@Clywoo77 True but he could put up points!
Female Adrian dantley really?? Stop with all these dumb comparisons
@@anthonytaylor7928 It’s a free country in case you haven’t noticed.
@@eltonjohnson1724That's a terrible comp, free country or nay.. 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😬😁
UConn’s days at the top are over. I mean with them no longer having a stranglehold at the top, if you are a premier recruit, why would you want to go to school in Connecticut?
Great win. With the loss of Aubrey Griffin UConn has little bench and Muhl's foul trouble limited her to 19 minutes.
With five starters and little bench UConn's future is tough. Grat game by ND.
Beautiful
It wasn't a stun UConn especially paige can't keep up with fast guards I can't remember the left hand guard who torched her in the tournament a few years back that played for I think Arizona or Texas tech she plays in the wnba now I can't remember her name somebody reply
