Eye server is eye servant. Those who attend to duty only when watched. They are all over work places. They do this to catch the eyes of employers. Thank you great teacher. More grace Ma.

Very good summation, thank you for the video. I’ve noticed a tricky situation which can be grouped under office politics. That’s avoid standing out or too obvious with your achievements. You make yourself a direct threat to most of your colleagues as your performance makes them less valuable to the company or team. You will literally put a target on your back. Yes your superiors will value you and what you bring to the team but your peers will be on the lookout for you. Something to manage and think about from my experience.

So do you then hide your skill or talent???
Especially if you preach excellence in work delivery, will you then do the opposite???

Thank you for your comment Akinwande. Here is my take on it. While it's true that standing out or achieving success can sometimes trigger negative reactions from colleagues, it's essential to approach this idea with nuance. For example, what's the corporate culture of that place? A few organisations/teams encourage highlighting your achievements because there is a culture of collectively celebrating achievements. In a healthy organisation/team culture, individual successes are often seen as contributing to the collective success. In contrast, toxic or highly competitive cultures may breed resentment. If your organisation/team isn't one that intentionally sees and encourages individual success as collective success, then resentment will be the order of the day.
Another piece of advice I would give is that you should watch the way your achievement is communicated. How you communicate your achievements can impact how they are perceived. It is wise to be mindful of how your success is presented. It works best to emphasize collaboration and the collective goals of the team, and how others helped you to achieve the goal. I'd always say that 'humility is sexy'. Don't be arrogant about your achievement and demonstrate a willingness to help others succeed as well.
So, rather than avoiding success, it is best to focus on building positive relationships with colleagues, share credit, acknowledge others' contributions, and create an atmosphere of collaboration.

@@joyologe8587 No please, do not hide your skills/talents. By all means, highlight them. Only do it the right way. Understand the context, pay attention to the corporate culture at work, build positive relationships at work, and remember that there is no 'I' in 'TEAM', so highlight the role that others played in your success.
Finally, regularly seek feedback from both superiors and colleagues. This can help you understand how your actions are perceived and provide an opportunity to address any concerns.
