Interesting thing to note:
In "Vanquish a Foe", she was using the rapier, a stabbing-based sword with her left hand.
In her last major role involving swords, Maisie learned to become left handed for her role. And said sword in said role was also a stabby sword.
I'd like to think the only directions the director have her was "try and stick him with the pointy end"

It wasn't a rapier, it was a foil. I can tell there were no fencing lessons involved, so the directors notes were probably exactly that
