You're a young wood elf child, lost, all alone, in the dreadfull Sea of Ghosts. This sea, off the coast of Winterhold's city, at the extreme north of Skyrim, is one of the most dangerous and mysterious one.
I said you were alone, but are you really?
Your mind is blurry, and as the violent waves and icy wind are shaking you're small body, you seem to hear something. A song? Yes, a motherly and ethereal voice calls your soul and claims your heart. But soon, the bells rang, and muffled voices are all around : You're very lucky, a ship has spotted you.
The crew rescued you, and you're quickly brought to the healer cabin, a well-known khajiit named Ko'Zjendra. Your are safe, but what exactly happened? What was this song? Why were you in the middle of the sea?
I propose you a unique ASMR experience, relax and let the events take you throught the eyes of a survivor child.

Huh… I never thought that they’d actually think to get argonians to save drowning people! I mean they can breath underwater. Idk that line just got me super immersed and relaxed :)

    • @TheSkyrimWhisper
      @TheSkyrimWhisper  2 года назад +4

I'm really pleased you find that line immersing and that you enjoyed it !
However, getting argonians dive into such a cold sea can be a really risky move. I didn't find the time to include this here, as it was mostly focused on the wood elf child.
But some argonians have a really hard time to acclimate to cold weather due to their cold blood, it can slow them down or even make them hibernate (or even kill them!).
It hugely depends on the individual's physiology though, as argonian's bodies (and therefore, organs, skills, metabolism etc.) are defined by Hists. It's debated wether some argonians have warm/somewhat warm blood. =) So, a really desperate moove here !

      @@TheSkyrimWhisper So...there's a lot to unpack here.
First off, and this isn't a complaint, merely a question...are the voices I am hearing before Ko'Zjendra begins speaking, supposed to sound that distorted and unclear? I was honestly unable to tell if it was just an artifact of recording, or if the voices were meant to sound distorted while the listener was in very bad condition...
Second...wow. This is an amazing piece of work overall. There are so many layered sound effects, and a lot of individual sound effects that really bring the narrative to life. There are a few places where I can hear a very mild change in sound quality when a sound effect is added (but that is only because I have trained myself to hear that in my own work so I can correct it.) Between the mildness of the difference, and how amazing and absorbing the story is, my mind easily self-edits the sound, and all I really take away from it is a wonderful story and a wonderful storytelling experience.
Third. The entire process of treating the listener for water immersion/hypothermia/frostbite, etc...very in-depth and well thought-out. Throughout the audio, I found myself considering the various actions being taken, and thinking to myself, "Yes...yes, that sounds sensible...yes, that too...good...yes, good..."
Fourth. The sheer length of the entire thing. I listened to part of it while driving home two days ago, and the rest of it (the first time) while falling asleep. I also listened to it in full again yesterday, to make sure I hadn't missed anything. You must have gone through a lot of work to bring this audio to completion, and I salute you for it. It is a very good piece of audio work, and a very captivating story. (It also makes me wonder just how many places Ko"Zjendra has traveled to, and how many places she still has to go.)
All in all...amazing. Incredible work. Thank you for making this. I look forward to hearing more of your content!

@@ADragonSpeaks Oh! Thank you so much for this report! It's always really usefull to know in detail what worked or not and why.
For the first point : Yes, this muffled voices are intended indeed, as the wood elf child was somewhat unconscious. Only Ko'Zjendra voice was able to pierce through. In addition, since they are all distorions of my own voice, it sounded really artificial when "raw", muffling them was also a good way to make them more immersive.
Secondly : The changes in the sound quality are here indeed, and it's mostly because I'm still figuring out how my microphone properly works xD There are sometimes a lot of white noise, which forces me to lower the volume or the grain to fix the problem. I'm still learning how to use this, and I'll have soon some windscreens that hopefully, are gonna work.
Third: I'm always very concerned about realism, and coherence. I spent quite some times to learn about hypothermia effects and treatments, the different stages, the warming process etc. It's not perfect of course, since it's still and asmr video and I have to provide some triggers, even if they are not that realistic. But I'm very glad you found it coherent nonetheless!
Fourth : Haha, thank you, I was wondering if the lenght was or not a bad thing, as it might be frustrating to not be able to finish it before going to sleep or things like that. I'm relieved that's not quite the case, or that it doesn't cause such a big problem. I take roughly 3-4 days (full) to do an asmr video : one day to write the script (and to check if there are not too much mistakes, as english is not my mothertongue); one day to record the voice and the different sounds, and to transform the already existing sounds (for the waves, for example). Sometimes I have the time to fully edit the sound part the same day, but that's not always the case (here, I had to spent another full day). And then, I spent half a day to draw the illustrations, and the other half to make the video editing (here, to match the text with the voices, or when falling incounscious). Finally, the last day is for posting the video itself, dowloading it (and akatosh knows how damn long it is xD) adding tags, the description, synchronize the subtitles, the timestamps etc. But I generaly spend 1 or 2 weeks (1 hour here, 2 there ...) to do researches before writing the script. ( And yes, K'oZjendra went to quite the amount of places during her life :p )
All in all, thank you so much for your report! And I'm super glad that you enjoyed this that much!

      @@TheSkyrimWhisper
First point response: I really like that mechanic and concept, that the rescuers might not necessarily be fully audible, but a very concerned and talented healer might be able to fully pierce the veil of the mind and be clearly perceived. Very sweet.
Second point response: Adjusting the gain and volume will probably help a lot, as will the use of noise reduction, if your editing software has that. I use Audacity for my audio projects, and it has a very handy feature for (partially, at least) removing some of the background noises I can't control, and even reducing the intrusion of the birds in my backyard, whose song is incredibly loud at times (especially recording times.) Continued experimentation will definitely profit your future projects.
Third point response: Don't be too concerned about the realism of any particular trigger. What we are doing is creating an experience, after all. Sometimes it can become necessary to tone down a particular sound effect, like sudden impacts, thunder, that sort of thing...but sometimes the exaggeration of a sound effect can enhance the effect and realism of it...such as the sounds of moving cloth (something which might not seem too loud under normal circumstances) or pouring liquids, things like that.
Fourth point response: That is a LOT of time spent on your projects. And a lot of dedication. I do very primitive audio recordings and make simple videos using images in MS Paint and a slide-show program, and I can still spend days of spare time on a project (nine entire hours recording, editing, cleaning, and enhancing to produce a 45-minute finished piece.)
As to your scripting and language...you are doing amazing work in a SECOND language (most people I know barely master one, and I myself shudder to think of how badly I would express myself in anything other than English.) Your speech is quite easy to understand, at least for me. For Ko'Zjendra especially, I simply keep in mind that she is also speaking in what is probably not her birth tongue, and is doing her very best.
The research involved must be incredible. I am aware of the vastness of the Elder Scrolls lore, even though I have only scratched the surface of it, and I stand in awe of those who have committed so much of it to practical memory.
That's about all the word-crafting I have in me right now (worked a 12-hour shift today...)
I am eagerly awaiting new content, and shall also attempt to listen to what projects of yours I have not already heard.
(Also, thanks so much for taking the time to respond in such depth!)
