It was a very tight race, but I thought they got it right. Greinke had a miniscule edge in E.R.A. 1.66 to 1.77. Jake the miniscule edge in H/9IP. Jake also the edge in HR/9IP. Grienke the slight edge in SO/W. All of the categories very close. What I liked about Jake, and what I thought gave him the edge was 4 CG's and 3 SHO's, including a no hitter. Compared to only 1 CG and 0 SHO's for Greinke. Plus Arrieta played in a much tougher division top to bottom... not much debate that it was the toughest division in baseball. And he made it look like "A" ball. The right man won the award.
Not to mention that, although Greinke had a better ERA, Arrieta had a much better FIP and xFIP-, which I consider to be far more important stats than ERA. Also, Greinke had a lower HR/FB ratio, which was probably due to simple luck since it's usually just luck to have a lower than average HR/FB, and I think Greinke's history of his HR/FB ratio going all over the place underlines that for him (although tbf Jake's goes all over the place too, but since xFIP- takes that into consideration, I think that stat demonstrates he was better than Greinke for 2015).
I like the music. I don't care if you don't like it. You clearly don't have anything positive to say. You not liking the music doesn't make me stop liking it. Not going to argue with you over the music in this video. Leave me alone dude.
I still laugh at the people saying Greinke deserved the Cy Young more and it warms my heart seeing people already explaining why the right person won it.
I don’t know what happened to this guy. 2015 he was amazing. 2016 and 2017 he was still very good but not CY young good. Then he leaves the cubs and he’s an average to below average pitcher. With how deep he was pitching into games I just wonder if he couldn’t keep it up anymore.
@@MikeNapoli1989 Hell yeah man; when it was all ahead and we just got these kids. I sometimes feel like we've come to expect so much from some of the core, here's hoping we can keep this party going!
+NamesSimba I'm an angels fan too, for what the cubs did this offseason I hope it pays off for them, As for the angels Arte should of went over the luxury tax.
+Steven Garrison Arte Moreno is. Stupid owner I love the team but hate our owner. I wish Disney still owned the Angels there would have been no bullshit like 2015
***** I agree but I think that this whole turmoil started when they signed Josh Hamilton, they should of kept Torii Hunter and re-signed greinke. 2014 was their one good chance to make a deep post season run then they lost richards and skaggs for the year, I am hoping for a big bounce back year from Shoemaker and Weaver.
+Steven Garrison 2016 all depends on SP cuz as of now I think our lineup is only a little bit better than 2015. And yea I agree josh Hamilton was the dumbest signing for the Angels .
***** I don't see the line up being much better then it was last year, escobar might be better on defense then freese, getting a steal on simmons which they shocked me of trading for him, I was not happy that they had to give up Newcomb who would of been in the rotation next season, they needed cespedes or heyward.
+moegerms No need to fight.... Arriesta's the best. He is such a genious, he explained how he could change, per batter, its grip to throw it with more effect or more speed(We're talking about his Slider-cutter, or whatever it is). Me, as a rookie pitcher, would like to manage all the usual pitches(Slider, Curve, Cutter) he has.
+Diego Dakdouk lmao the best? The best pitcher in baseball is still clayton kershaw. This isn't even an argument. You really consider Arrieta a genius because he can change speeds? A genius is someone who has been able to sustain his success through out his career, not just a single season. By these standards I guess you consider RA Dickey a genius too?
+moegerms To this kind of comments, let's them act this new year, you'll see. PD: Another Killer pitcher, Madison Bumgarner.... Just try to ask him how many times he has hitted some Home runs to your Clayton Kershaw?. I Can't deny it, Kershaw has the best curveball in baseball. Cy Young, well deserved, Arrieta....
Connor Smallnut yeah I usually listen to these muted. Still great highlights and just remember that if he put the real mlb audio it could possibly bring down the video because copyright issues. Nonetheless good highlights.
True, but this year the Cubs are the best team in the league--last year they weren't. The Dodgers (and MAYBE the Nationals, but I doubt it) are the only team with a prayer of stopping the Cubs from getting to the World Series this year. I'm guessing it'll be Cubs vs. Red Sox, which would be an awesome series even if the Cubs lose.
+Nathan Cruz Actually, the 2'nd worst ever. Back in the early 90's the O's traded a future HOF pitcher (Curt Schilling), another solid starter named Pete Harnish, and a perennial All-Star CF & leadoff hitter in Steve Finley... to the Houston Astros for a guy named Glen Davis, an aging slugger. They wanted a power bat in the middle of the order and gutted a young promising team in the process that made a nice run in '89 unexpectedly. That team also had Brady Anderson, Mike Devereaux, Ripken of course, a quality pen with a lights out closer in Greg Olsen, and 2 other decent SP's in Bob Milacki & Ben McDonald who had a few good years. They could have had a nice window to make a run at it but instead gutted it for 1 slugger that couldn't stay healthy. That was not only the O's worst trade ever but widely considered THEE worst trade ever in baseball history next to of course the Sox sending Babe Ruth to the Yankees. But yes, this was a terrible deal indeed, giving away a CY Young pitcher for nothing. And all because the O's GM wouldn't let him throw his best pitch (the cutter). For some reason he has an irrational hatred of the pitch, and Jake has a phenomenal one.
+John Smith in the Os defense he wasn't a great pitcher until last year when he came out of no where. I firmly believe he will regress in the future and will seek 200 plus million. BC of that he will leave the Cubs and they will have average pitching
This guy was absolutely untouchable and special to watch at his best.
Welcome back Jake!!💙❤️
Fastball
Sinker
Cutter
Slider
Curve
Change Up
Geez, this guy has everything...
And commands all of them perfectly!
I thought I saw a cutter, but I wasn't sure. Nice!

The second half of the season last year, guy was friggin' untouchable. He 100% deserved the Cy Young
crewkid52 He had a pretty good first half too. Should have been an all star.
Quick Fact: I talked to Jake Arrieta on Twitter this year. He gave me some advice on a good diet :P
what was his advice?
Mostly what he eats is fish, grilled chicken, some steak, and kale juice.
+MVPFLF Ah cool I would recommend the macros diet although I'm not sure if many baseball players are on it
What a stupid comment. Besides, your opinion is quite irrelevant.
I like the music. I don't care if you don't like it. You clearly don't have anything positive to say. You not liking the music doesn't make me stop liking it. Not going to argue with you over the music in this video. Leave me alone dude.

I missed Nolan Ryan, so this was the most dominating thing that I'd ever seen!
King is back
"Hey Alexa, play Welcome Back"
Welcome back, Jake!
2:45 those throwback jerseys are fire
I love Arrieta. I thought Adam Grontier from Saint Asonia/Three Days Grace fit him.
Really loved your Arrieta video from last year, this one is amazing as well!
Thank you
I still laugh at the people saying Greinke deserved the Cy Young more and it warms my heart seeing people already explaining why the right person won it.
He has a funky wind-up. Veryyy hard to replicate lol
Nostalgic as hell
Jake Arrieta sign with the Cubs

He looked like he was throwing a damn blitzball back then

The sink on his fastball is filthy!
How?
great channel thank yous so much for the entertainment good sir!
this mans curve ball has me trippen
The curve is nice, but it's the crispness of that sinker (e.g. 3:41, 4:47) that's my favorite.
We need you tonight Jake
I'm an Angels fan but the Cubs better make it to the WS this year. This team has a ridiculous starting lineup

jack arrieta wooo lets go great pitcher
the ad before the video for me was the cardinals.
+GummyDummy Havent had an ad in 3 years thanks to AdBlock!! :")
2015 Jake Arrieta was fucking nasty dude
This video should be called swing and a miss.
Man those cubbies should I have been in the series
Not Haiti g the mets but their offense relied on Daniel Murphy's homeruns .
*hating
Welocome to Philly Jake
my life is the bassebal
You should do some Jake Arrieta's Sliders in slow motion... It'll be useful for Rookie pitchers.
Dervish has a better slider and has proven to be successful for longer than 1 season.
+Marionette Martinez mad about your meme team getting swept 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Oh cool! I didn't know that!
Do one of j.d. Martinez
Arrieta being are 2nd starter this year is not a good thing. Gonna be a rough year.

let's go 49 arrieta
Starlin Castro please?
Should the Cubs retire his #? A Cy Young Award, 2 No-hitters, and a WS ring
@Tassioquarters I personally agree, but that won't happen. At least with Arrieta, he's been scandal free. At least that I'm aware of :)
what song is that
#MVPFLF Who is your favorite pitcher
+Roger Pom Hamels & Kershaw
mine is darvish and greinke
Huge Yankees but Syndagaard and Kershaw

True. Arrieta doesn't shit himself in the postseason
You're right. He didn't choke in the WS, and he got his ring

Grant Wiese :P
You kinda have to deal with other people’s feedback

He's on steroids
dusty daisy proof?
Jake Arrieta is better than you at everything
