Mate De Villiers is all class..... a gentlemen on and off the field.... much respect coming from a NZ fan who misses watching the South African teams play in super rugby :(
What Jean de Villiers said about Ma'a Nonu, said more about his noble and class character than it did of Nonu. Much respect to this great man and outstanding ambassador of the game we all love.
Love the Springboks my 2nd team after the All Blacks and they deserve being World CHAMPIONS.and Jean De Villiers your world class player he's to humble man
JDV sportsmanship in the 2013 game was wonderful. He could have taken a completely different course of action and legitimately won the championship but he chose to be a gentleman and let Coles play on. That game is probably the best test match I have ever seen and as an ABs fan I think JDV has a massive part to play in the awesomeness of the occasion. Huge respect for him. Such a pity he got injured so many times at World cups but that does not detract from a brilliant career. Much love from NZ.
Honorable sportsman, didnt want a technicality deciding what turned out to be an epic test match between SA and NZ back in 2013. One of the best test matches ever!
JDV was one of few Boks who was respected worldwide for his game. Never played with frustration like so many Boks do, played hard and played fair. A great international ambassador for our sport.
We stayed at the same hotel as JDV in Hong Kong at a sevens tournament...the guys the happiest, nicest SA I’ve ever come across..a good vibes sort of dude
Because he's what Manu Tuilagi was supposed to become without injuries. A high high IQ Tuilagi with a kicking game. Elite player. Best centre I've ever watched. I'm 22
@Lio Taumiti it’s a compliment... Nonu used to play exactly like Tuilagi when he was younger. Then he developed the offloading and kicking game that took him to the next level...
JDV what a great captain he was for the Springboks. I am proud to support the Boks. My favorite match to watch is Springboks vs All blacks. This is the world's greatest teams ever!!!
Thanks for sharing that story Ma is of course NZs best ever Second Five My first choice back A beast wonderful runner tackler passer and kicker never forget Jean's over the top try in that best ever game in 2013
This is one very powerful vodeo ‘in the Spirit of the Game’, and extremely well handled from the show host point of view - it sends out the very best vibes imaginable, thank you kindly! 👊🔥
I respect the All Blacks.....All Blacks a world class rugby team.....and our brothers.....i always get nervous when Boks play againts All Blacks.....much redpect from SA.
I heard - that apparently = hearsay. But the story goes that Ma'a lived in the same street in Wellington as a child who was very ill and needed a lot of expensive specalised care, and one day Ma'a turned up at their house with a boot load of stuff, signed jerseys and things like that - that helped family hugely both financially and emotionally with their son's unfortunate plight.
The Springboks having a lot of leaders over the years like JDV, Smit, Matfield etc are a huge reason why the Sprinboks are deeply respected by The All Blacks and their fans. Great servants of the game who lead their team with the true spirit of the game.
Nonu just got better and better added lil twerks to his game along the way turned from a buster to creating holes gave at the right time kept at the right time 💯👍
Jean De Villiers is a class man from a Kiwi. Huge respect for this South African brother. 🤙🏽
Just a pity he had so many bad injuries
100% mate. Top bloke 💯
I ditto that, great man!
Such class De Villiers. A man who believes in the spirit of rugby and not the politics of rugby. Enjoyed watching him play growing up, and I'm kiwi.

What was the final score?
Can you imagine what Owen Farrell would have done in that position.

What a legend! Such respect.
Nonu right now would still be the best 2nd five in nz. Scary when you think how far he is past his prime
Great interview all. Wonderful hearing from a Bok legend 👌🏽
I played rugby for the Dubai Exiles in 2016, 2017. Jean De Villiers was our club mentor. I asked him about his greatest rival.

Jean de Villiers + Jaque Fourie = deadly combo from all blacks fan

What a great sportsman, friendly, honest but could run righ over Manu Tuilagi. With Jacques Fourie,a lethal partnership.
Another in my top 4 is Francois Pienaar. Tru rugby player, wonderful human
2 goat midfielders
Would of enjoyed seeing JDV and Ma'a paired together in the centres OMG
Wow...feel bad for him...people don't even make it to one world cup yet alone 4...
