This game was legendary back in the day. It definitely revolutionized 2D Mario platforming with walljumps, ground pounds, triple jumps etc.
Honestly would choose to play this one over the other “New” games.
But obviously what’s new is kinda old so I hope Nintendo takes a new direction in classic Mario.

I'm excited that nsmb U and Luigi U are coming to switch as I never owned a wii u to play them. I absolutely love these games. Sometimes I still go back to the ds one. At the same time though I hope this won't be the end of 2d mario. Switch needs it's own 2d Mario title too.

What triggers me about New Super Mario Bros:
>I could have played the game as Luigi from the get-go, but I didn't know that because my Dad didn't buy me that cheat code book from the Book Fair at my school.
>When you beat the game, the bottom screen tells you the code to play as Luigi in Single Player, but the text and symbols are too bright to read.

Am I the only one who actually likes the Mini Mushroom? I like how Mario's jump gets floaty along with addition of being able to walk on water, and I always like trying to survive as long as I can while mini. Sure, I can die in one hit, but I like the extra challenge.

Too easy? I can understand why you'd say that as a Mario fan, but give this game to somebody who's less experienced with platformers or video games in general and you'll see why. This game wasn't designed for series veterans. It's actually a surprisingly challenging game for people who are just casual players, and that's who it's designed for! I know that that doesn't mean that it's a good game for *you*, but that doesn't mean the difficulty is poorly designed. It just means that being too easy for series veterans was not something they were trying to avoid.
I agree with you, when I was about 7 or 8 (during 2009), I had to play through each level learning how to beat them without dying. I lost count of how many game overs I got...

So I see people talking that he first said the levels were easy, to saying the levels were hard. The levels them selves are very easy, it's the star coins that make it more challenging. If you attempt to beat the levels without getting any star coins. Most of the levels are easy. Trying to get all the star coins makes SOME of the levels challenging.

When you're in the main adventure, you can't save at any time.
But when you have defeated the final boss in World 8, you suddenly DO get the opportunity to save at any time! [[[ TRIGGERED! ]]]

Really man, it should be possible to save at any moment, because you're only able to save after either beating a world's castle boss or tower mid-boss, or whenever you first visit a mushroom house. I never understood that.

I completely disagree. New Super Mario Bros. is a lot more innovative ideas you think about it. Not only is it the first 2D Mario game in forever, but it's got cool new power-ups, it introduced star coins, has great level design further in the game, brought a lot of new players into the Mario series, the graphics and music are so fun and memorable, inspired many ROM hacks of it like Newer Super Mario Bros. DS, has plenty of secrets, and even secret worlds, has an amazing Mario vs. Luigi battle mode, and just has so much replay value. I think you really underestimated this game Nathaniel, even if it didn't invent a whole different Mario game, it still is a classic to this day that I just can't put down.
You should address some of these points in a Mind Blowing video.

@NUTGETI mean the castle Bosses! Besides, SMB 3, SMW and the other NSMB had the fricken koopalings. At least Bowser Jr is better than boom boom in SMB 3 since Sone of the later worlds have a slightly harder version of Bowser Jr.
