100% my coaches valued blocking a lot and although I wast the best on are team at being a reviver I was by far the best blocker and I started over some kids who were beter receivers
last year tbh i was straight trash but i been watching you and all your videos and now im catching 95% of passes and running routes like a mad man. you helped me a lot coach!!
Bro I really needed this. My brother convinced me to start playing football so I signed up for it and everything. But I have barely any experience. My brother and I have been practicing different routes for hours, and learning how to effectively catch a football from close and from a far. I have 5 routes down so far. But I start my first practice in tomorrow and I want to look dumb so I am learning everything before then. And one thing I have been struggling with is getting past the DB. I have never played any very physical sports before so I don’t feel comfortable using my full force to push some out of the way. And even when I did I felt like it created bad tension between me and the DB. I am going to try the first 2 ideas that you put but if those don’t work then I guess I will do the last one
Don't forget WR'S always dont to have to go deep they should go for more of the short route because it helps more for yardage and first downs. And also dont put alot of pressure on yourself just feel free WR Is a hard Position to get use to espically if a good db is covering it takes alot of practice and when you practice you can nail the position i started getting better when i was 11 and i been playing since i was 5 so patience is key to being a good WR.
I'm 44 I'm I love working out with the neighborhood kids. Years ago I was a WR until my coach saw me run violent with the ball and decided to move me to TB. I took pride in blocking as a WR. I was a head hunter and I teach my guys to be physical
Yo Coach i’m 6foot in 7th grade and ranked nationally in Basketball, but i’m trying football next year and i’m already great. Appreciate you for giving me some tips!
Bro I’m 13 and I am starting football next year. My dream is to make it to the nfl as a wide reciver. When I practice plays with my friends your tips help. Thanks man
I’m a 5’11, 127 lbs freshman. Is that good for a wide receiver on varsity because I’ve been the first string wide out basically since I’ve started over all the juniors and seniors?

Coach, I need serious help on how to become a better wide receiver please give me tips with this information on what I need to do Weight:146 Height:5'9 40yrd dash time: 4.50 Age:14
You already pretty fast so focus on catching and catching with a freind and I recommend going to your schools gym and do squats and benchpress then find your stance and practice
@ITSMANNYHOMIE do a lot of jumping workouts bro, work on getting loose too. 5’5 is a lil undersized right now, but you’ll grow fasho 👌🏾 but you wanna be sure you have that mobility and quickness for when you DO grow. Plus as an undersized receiver you gotta out run everyone else tbh. Good luck fam
I'm a sophmore and will be a junior next season and starting to play football for the first time. Is it too late to start? and what should i do bc i have a year to try and make at least JV.
hey coach can I get some help first year playing football 6”1 135-140 lbs 13 Years old playing freshman / Jv high school team (Afraid im gonna get layed out because i would catch up in skill as people that have played for 3-4 maybe 5 years) over all just looking for some help with ball handling i have trouble with that been working my ass off the last 6 months prepping for the season any help I can get?
Honestly you just kind of have to not think about that stuff- you’re definitely big enough at your age to be successful but everyone has these worries their first year. Just don’t be afraid of the contact-it’s honestly not that bad. Just focus on doing your job each play, how you can take care of the ball and then when the play is over move onto the next
@@firstdowntraining to avoid any fakes I keep backpedaling on there first step then start shuffling in the other direction opposite of there first step
I ain't play last year in my 8th and 7th grade year because I was like 110-130 5'8-5'10 and before that all I played was nose guard ngl I was cold but that ain't goin work in hs collage etc so I'm going into my 9th grade year play wr first day of practice is today lol good luck😂🙏🏼
Should I stay low the entire route? Because if I start coming up then the db will now I’m about to cut or break. But I won’t be able to run full speed (to sell the fade) if I’m low. Or should I stay low (the whole route) for short plays (10 yards or under)?
So it’s like that area in between- you want to keep a “consistent” pad level rather than a low pad level- as long as you’re not like leaning back or raising up you won’t have any indicators and that’s what we want to focus on
Route running for sure! A lot of beginner WRs don’t learn how to run routes so I would checkout our “wide receiver” playlist on this channel and the content there will help
@@firstdowntraining Respectfully how do I do that without hurting myself or slowing down before the break? Bc Ive tried dropping then while staying in stride but it doesnt work for me. I usually end up hurting my leg.

Not bad, need to gain some weight for college!
Eat a hell of a lot more meat. Turkey is the best meat for you but all meats are almost equal.
I’m 5’9 and 130 pounds. I would say you should weight 1.9 pounds for every one inch that you are tall.
I’m 5”9’ 130 so not the best for his varsity but I can still get it done, I’m second string btw
