Gaelic is what uneducated plastic paddies (mostly Yanks with dubious connections to Ireland who are big fans of their police forces and the IRA at the same time and dont see the obvious cognitive dissonance in doing so). So please ignore morons who tell you its Gaelic.
Lyrics: Siúil, siúil, siúil a rún Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom I wish I were on yonder hill 'Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill, 'Til every tear would turn a mill, Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán. I'm a Scottish Gaelic speaker and I always enjoy listening to Irish because it's just close enough for me to understand but distant enough for the difference in pronunciation to make my head spin 😂 this is beautiful! Deagh ghuth a th' agad!
@lomionaredhelion It sounds quite strange, mainly due to the accent. The dialect is also quite different in a lot of ways. It takes me a while to tune into someone's voice and understand them 😂 but I think it's quite wonderful really

The epidemic of dying languages hurts me to my core. It is so important to save these unique languages from going extinct, and it is very very worrying that a language like Irish, which was once so prolific, has gone in that direction.
They learn it at school, it’s not dying any time soon. My boyfriend speaks it because he learned it at school. There’s also areas with native speakers.
Everytime I listen to traditional Irish songs, I feel patriotism towards the country, even though I have nothing to do with it. Such an amazing and rich culture.
I remember teaching myself this song when I was a kid in the 90s, early 2000s. Obsessed with Riverdance and Celtic Woman. Absolute joy to hear one of my favorite trad songs in your Very Handsome voice. Thank you for the smile today, I very much needed it.
I don't speak a word of Irish, but your voice and the instruments hit me right in the soul. This is just what I needed today. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
I really needed this today. The past week has been pretty rough and the first and third verses really hit me. My dog and best friend of nearly 12 years had to be put down last Thursday. And I'm away at college, so I didn't get to say goodbye... and I've just been struggling to cope with the fact that the one friend I could count on always being there for me for the majority of my childhood is now gone. Your music has been a warm soothing hug to my broken heart and has helped soothe me to sleep during restless nights. I know there's a lot of comments on here, so I don't know if you'll see this one, but I really just wanted to thank you for this beautiful cover, and for all of your music. It means a lot to me and countless others as well, I'm sure. ❤
My 15 year old cat passed mid-October. I had him since my senior year of high school and it hurts that he's no longer here. He was a bobtail, he was quirky, he was mischievous, he was loyal, and he was my good boy.
I used to listen to the Celtic Woman version of this song all the time in High School. This version carries something altogether different and quite beautiful. I love your inflection in it. Kind of an aching in your voice. I think this might be my favorite version of this song.
This version hits differently because it's sung properly, unlike anything celtic woman sings. This song is a lament leading into a call to arms, it's supposed to rouse anger and the fighting spirit, against all enemies and traitors of the Celtic people.
Having first heard this song by Celtic Woman, I never thought a rock version of it would sound this good. But then again, you never cease to impress. Bravo.

Greetings from Manchester, I have a few Irish brothers and one brilliant Dublin brother passed away almost half a year ago, still pains me he's gone as things aren't the same without his humor around. Hearing such a beautiful song that drags out the emotions and does make me miss him more, but it makes me think back on the amazing memories of drinking with him when going to Dublin along with a few other friends. I appreciate your music and thankyou for the emotions you can bring out. God Bless Ireland and God Bless Jordan, I pray he's doing well up there with the good lord himself.
My mom used to play me videos and CD's/music tapes of this song so much so that you could say i grew up on it via lords of the dance/river dance so this song has always held a special place in my heart and this is a really really good rendition of it. Thank you.
Amazing rendition! It's funny, I was introduced to this song by a japanese artist(KOKIA) YEARS ago, she did an Irish album and featured many traditional songs (although she had a heavy accent, of course) and I've always loved Siuil a Ruin
Thank you for making music. Thank you for learning to sing, and singing for us. Your voice carries a power you may not be able to hear for yourself, but we hear it. Keep on doing you- sing what makes you happy, because we will hear it and that makes us all happy.
Ooohhhh yeah I'm in absolute Love. The playing and voice are just perfect. Thanks colm for another addictive repeating song. It's now in my top 10 of your songs.
