Just as an add on, please don’t take this as me saying you should only ever wear titanium. Titanium is just my preference for jewelry, so I wanted to make a video highlighting reasons why. Wear whatever YOU like and works best for YOU! 💛
Last weekend I had a titanium heart put into my daith. I’m about 10 days in. So far…NO itching, NO more bleeding, NO oozing, and NO more crustiest! Thank u for the tip✌🏿❤
My ex is actually allergic to titanium. He had a titanium plate in his leg, it wouldn't heal so the drs figured out he was actually allergic to it. Not very common at all which is one reason they like to use titanium for that kind of thing
Yay! Just got my first piercings today and happened to pick up titanium as my initial jewelry. It never occurred to me that some materials were better than others for new piercings and you're right they do use a lot of titanium in the medical industry. Thanks for the great video!
I recommend platinum or 14k gold if you’re like me w a nickel reaction! It may cost more but it’s that or be all itchy and ya can’t scratch a new piercing 🙂
I just went to titanium rings in my helix piercings and my lobes. So far, so good. I love it. I just got a new daith and I can't wait to change it to a titanium ring from the SS one in there. Not that I don't like the SS, I've always worn SS rings in those piercings, I just want a sparkly titanium CZ ring in there that's a little bigger in diameter than what I was pierced with.
I did not realize how good titanium was until recently. I've had my helix pierced for like 10 years and it gets angry sometimes still. It was painful and swollen recently. I switched them from the butterfly backs to 18g titanium labrets and the swelling went down literally overnight!!
I have a nickel allergy, and as a kid had to look for "hypoallergenic" labels on earrings. However I can wear most stainless steel without issues (which is what I'm pretty sure that hypoallergenic stuff was because I doubt they were using titanium for costume jewelry in the 80's). I'm still switching to titanium in most of my piercings. I also rarely change my jewelry so having something that I know has the least potential for issues is important to me.
I think the most important thing to say when recommending jewelry materials is to suggest implant grade materials since implant grade materials have less nickel all around. While surgical steel isn’t a good option implant grade steel is a great option especially with no past irritation to nickel. Implant grade Titanium is usually seen as better than implant grade steel still because steel is still more likely to cause an allergic reaction. What you said is right about biocompatibility titanium is one of the most inert metals we can use in piercings and the most common inert material because it’s hard and easy to form. BUT some people can even be allergic to that! People with a history of being allergic to titanium while rare still have options. Niobium is actually the most inert metal we can use in piercings but since it’s so soft it’s usually only seen in rings not posts... but nobium can be anodized too! If all else fails the best material to heal with is probably actually glass but that can sometimes be impractical especially for much thinner piercings the glass can be fragile at times. The biggest problem I have with this video is you saying that titanium is anti microbial. I’d really love to see your sources on that because I did some quick research that showed me titanium is not anti microbial at all. We don’t really need our jewelry to fight for us against germs but as far as I know the only jewelry that might be able to do that would actually be wood. Does the app say something about it being anti microbial or something?
Hey Gretchen! I’m not sure if you’re still answering questions on this video, but I would love to know, is there a quality difference between titanium that has been plated with for example 14k/18k gold, vs. titanium that has been anodized to look gold?
Hi Gretchen! I have had my belly pierced for about 5 years but whenever I bump the top gem, I can feel it. Would this be normal? I only wear titanium in it.
I like titanium for lack of weight, poor heat conduction and choice of colour, I switched a 4g stainless cbr for titanium and love the reduced weight. It did still stretch the piercing (ear lobe) and now the bead easily passes through the hole, so time to get bigger, right? Yeah so I have a 0g titanium cbr to go in there but there is a problem... opening it. I have the largest pliers and even putting one handle on the table and leaning hard on the other handle just does not do it. Hmm... so what to do?
After placement of a titanium dental implant I got swollen hands and feet, itchy skin and extreme fatigue. My dentist said this could not be an allergy as this is extremely rare .... So because it is rare it could not happen to me? I had it removed and within one week all my problems were gone .... No more titanium for me!
I had piercing years ago from a place never had issues there's was stainless steel , years on I decided to start getting some more have my couch , top ear, and others the lady wasent there so i went to another piercing place she used titanium had red , bumps , hot , the full 9 yards and I had to take them out and waited to heal and got pierced again same place happens again I was like right okay back to the drawing bord and I walked pasted though town and seen My lady was back ! So i went in and I was desperate at this point there was sooo bad bumps huge been 2 years since there was pierced I cleaned everyday , bla bla , tried tee tree the lot anyways she asked questions and she said have they been doing this since going there I said yes and that's when I found out I was allergic and now she's changes 3 weeks pasted and you couldn't even tell there was a ything wrong with it
It's rare, but you could be allergic to titanium! I don't have a nostril piercing so I can't really help you with that unfortunately. All I know is that glass is one of the best materials and that warm saline soaks are great! I personally wouldn't use soap
I found out I'm a bit allergic to titanium. Switched to surgical steel and now both of my helixes are a lot less irritated. Sure if I hurt them, they still get mad at me.
PVD adds a layer. Anodising changes the structure of an oxidised layer of the actual titanium resulting in that oxidised layer reflecting/refracting a range of colors depending on the frequency of the electricity that is put through it - NOT an extra layer of stuff on the titanium.
So i got a new cartilage ear piercing 5 weeks and i know the jewelry is cheap does anyone know if i could switch out the cheap jewelry for titanium jewelry ?
Great video!!! Most of my ear piercings jewelry is stainless steel. But I like titanium aswel. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🙂🙂💞💞💞💕💕💕🌹🌹🌹😙😙😚🥰🥰😊😊😘🙃🙃🙃🌷☠🦋☕☕☕☕🌷🌸🌸🌸💀💀💀😍😗😗😗☕☕🐦🐦☕☕👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻☠
I want to get my nose re-pierced. Last time it got infected and was always sore. Do you think the screw in or the hook or the flat back is best for new nose studs?
I would love to get a titanium jewelry piece for my snake eyes but I can’t find it anywhere. And I’m having a hard time finding what size I need. If anyone has any helpful tips it would be great ! *** I also know that not everyone things the snake eyes is a good idea to get because of certain Heath issues but I haven’t had any issues other than my jewelry ****
Quick question. I have double nostril piercings on opposite sides, i have noticed they are not 100% symmetrical. They were pierced months apart so not done at same time could this be why?
I am allergic to all metals, including titanium... So nope, it's not hypoallergenic 😅. The only material I can use for piercings or any other type of jewelry is surgical steel... And I'm super okay with that 😛
How much is titanium usually? I went to a shop recently and I already had a triple forward helix and all I wanted was replacement jewelry and she tells me it’s $500 for the three flat backs and three studs... I laughed and left.
I think i'm fortunate that I have a Blue Banana place in my area. They use piercing needles in old videos they didn't but they changed that. I went to a place near and it rejected because of the ring/ hoop in my nose piercing. Terrible idea! I'm going to actually go Blue Banana after doing my research on types of jewellery. They do teflon coated titanium which costs £5 more than just the normal titanium. Hope if works. 🤞
There are some benefits for some people, but people act like implant grade stainless is absolute trash and piercers who use it are irresponsible 🙄 Go into any advice thread on piercing Reddit and you will almost certainly run into someone saying it must be because the piercing is not titanium. Yes, sure, there are some people who are sensitive to metals more than the average person, but the number of people is far less than piercing troubleshooting threads will suggest. Clothing, aftercare, sleeping, and trauma are far more likely to be the cause of piercing problems by a huge margin, yet piercing material is constantly being blamed (even after the poster indicates the material is titanium or someone mentions knocking their jewelry or improper after care). Titanium as a biocompatible material doesn’t mean that the body will accept it- it means the material will be less likely to create additional negative reactions in the body in the body (beyond the initial trauma of the piercing). Implant grade a tainless steel (ASTM F138:F139) is also considered a biocompatible. Anything you put in your body that is not part of your body will be recognized as foreign and cause a response (to include metals, wood, ceramic, and even organic material like donated organs). Simply put, if a titanium knife was put in you, your body wouldn’t just say “this is fine”. Anodization of titanium thru electricity actually causes the top layers of titanium to become more porous. Anyone who has worn an anodized piece for a long time can attest that the anodized layer does wear off after a while (sad for the set of pink-purple rings I used to wear regularly).
Just as an add on, please don’t take this as me saying you should only ever wear titanium. Titanium is just my preference for jewelry, so I wanted to make a video highlighting reasons why. Wear whatever YOU like and works best for YOU! 💛
Aside from gold that’s like my only option lmfao
Last weekend I had a titanium heart put into my daith. I’m about 10 days in. So far…NO itching, NO more bleeding, NO oozing, and NO more crustiest!

I love my conch too!
implant grade titanium and 14k gold or higher is my go to for jewelry

Something i dont like about titanium is that it looks greyish, dull and not as shiny as silver. What are your thoughts on that ?
Hi Gretchen! I have had my belly pierced for about 5 years but whenever I bump the top gem, I can feel it. Would this be normal? I only wear titanium in it.

I love your medusa jewellery! Where did you get it?
Hi I like your videos question what about 14k gold is it better or same or is titanium better?
i love your! dangly earrings where are they from?
They are through the tunnels
My body hates steel and titanium for some reason it only likes 18 karat gold. It's a shame i'm poor, thanks body. ugh

At Claire’s titanium is the cheapest metal. It makes me wonder if the titanium they have isn’t as high quality and may cause an allergic reaction.
I mean...nothing at Claire's is high quality.
So question.. The regular earring that they normally use and pierce are those tItanium? Think I allegic. Or is it nickel?
My nose stud is titanium and it’s been almost 2 yrs and it still gets pissed off at me. I don’t know why it doesn’t heal completely 😩
What are you cleaning it with?
@@frogs9468 Neilmeds wound wash and mild soap and water in the shower. Maybe I’m just cleaning it too much

Coronaaa please open the piercing stoooore 😞
Im actually sad that titanium earrings are hard to come by where i am. -_-. Gold is more accessible here.
my parent had a titanium plate in their leg so this makes sense. probably wouldn't put something unsafe INSIDE your leg yk?
I want to get my nose re-pierced. Last time it got infected and was always sore. Do you think the screw in or the hook or the flat back is best for new nose studs?
Flat back and titanium I’m allergic to stainless Steal so I had to change to titanium titanium will heal better also titanium is an expensive metal
Where can I buy titanium initial piercing earring studs for men?
I would love to get a titanium jewelry piece for my snake eyes but I can’t find it anywhere. And I’m having a hard time finding what size I need. If anyone has any helpful tips it would be great !

The piercer probably didn’t measure/ line out correctly. I did the same thing and my piercer got it perfectly right.
No not at all it's not a mission just to get the symmetry right. You should've got refunded so you could redo it.
I heard body candy jewelry isn’t that safe but what if I’m getting only titanium???
I am allergic to all metals, including titanium... So nope, it's not hypoallergenic 😅. The only material I can use for piercings or any other type of jewelry is surgical steel... And I'm super okay with that 😛
Do you still have your crested gecko?
From the pinnacle to the pit!
Is Titanium steel the same as just titanium?
No ☺️ there's different levels, best one's ASTM F136 titanium
What about surgical steel?
How much is titanium usually? I went to a shop recently and I already had a triple forward helix and all I wanted was replacement jewelry and she tells me it’s $500 for the three flat backs and three studs... I laughed and left.
I got a pair of titanium earrings for $50 at SkinKandy…
That’s ridiculously expensive
Definitely titanium rocks. Additionally you are beautiful, continue upload videos pls.-
