Oh man... O_O Update: The name of the metal bender is Kuvira and was voiced by Robin Williams's daughter. I wish I had known this BEFORE, that way I could've made a connection with her being the one who SAVED a fatherly figure in the show.
About the captain, probably because her voice actor is Zelda Williams? I don't know, considering her father's recent death made me think that was the reason
for all the Korra vs Aang debates, I would like to put it in perspective. These two entirely different people lived and grew in two different centuries, two different worlds, and experienced different problems both externally and internally. Aang was at peace with himself and was already a master at dealing with other people BEFORE he became a master of all elements. Spiritually, he was in sync. He was disciplined with himself and knew who he was. He had a gift with resolving conflict peacefully. (think of the episode in the canyon with the two conflicting tribes). The only issues he had was with mastering the avatar state and the other elements and defeating those who were original stronger than him physically. He knew his purpose and what he was meant to be. This may be because of his air bending monk upbringing. His series saw the growth of his character as he mastered the elements and the avatar state as well as bringing peace to the world for the first time in a century. Korra is almost the exact opposite. She easily mastered the elements and the avatar state. She can find ways to defeat those who are stronger than her in a short period of time (sometimes in just one fight). She constantly defies limits with her bending, even using spirit/energy bending. The issues she has is with herself. She is not sure who she is and what her purpose is. She had to find herself spiritually and come to terms with her own emotional dilemmas. Before she came to the city, she had been secluded all her life, learning the elements before gaining any experience that could mature her character internally. She came into the series as a character with all the skills already there (with the exception of air and avatar state but those came pretty quickly) ready to be molded emotionally by experience. Her spirit is much more uncontrollable and the whole series saw the growth of her character as she matured in mastering her soul. Some of the key differences in the world/people that they've had to deal with are also what separates the two characters. Though they may have had similar side characters and support, the public view towards the avatar was much different. In Aangs time he was the savior, a hero in a time when most of the world had a common enemy. He was someone to rally behind, to give them hope. Korra is another story. She lives in a time where people are wary of her. Her enemies are sometimes supported by the public and they are not always as well known as Aang's enemies were. In Aang's time, almost everyone was affected by the firelord and had personal reasons to hate him. In Korra's time, not everyone has been personally or even affected at all by Korra's enemies. They see her as a disruption to their daily normal lives. The people of Korra's world don't need someone to rally behind, they might not need her at all eventually. (this is one of the struggles she will have to face). She has to deal with enemies without the clear view of an all out war. In Aang's time, everyone knew who the enemy was and who the avatar was fighting. In Korra's time, not everyone understands who she is fighting against and the sacrifices she is making. At least Aang has only had to deal with real people. One of Korra's biggest enemies was the most powerful spirit to exist. I'm not saying Korra is better, just different. Aang lost a lot more than Korra and so has the emotional maturity behind that loss. He has dealt with massive responsibilities at a terribly young age and accomplished more than many avatars have before him. Korra has accomplished great feats as well. I won't list them because we've all seen the series. Both have experienced many struggles with both maturing in different ways. Both Avatars are remarkable and both have saved the world/loved ones/cities on multiple occasions. Though in my opinion the first series AS A WHOLE was better executed, both characters are equally remarkable in my opinion. I've said my piece.
I also like to point out that the debate Aang vs Korra is a stupid debate I have ever heard and only goes to show how retarded some people are. Why? Well because Korra is Aang's reincarnation, therefore KORRA AND AANG ARE THE SAME PERSON!
The reason why Mako didn't lightning bend before was because in the original, Iroh talked about how you needed to be balanced and level headed to be able to make lightening. That was the reason why Zuko couldn't. On Nick.com, Mako's bio tells us that his preferred bending move is lightning. However, for some reason, he hadn't used it at all in book 3. That's because he was unbalanced. It might seem stupid, but Mako was really struggling with his feelings towards Korra. Not necessarily meaning that he regretted the breakup; he just didn't know how to handle his feelings. That caused the always cool-under-fire Mako to become unbalanced. Right before Korra left the airship to give herself up, you see how better he handles his feelings towards her. Reminder: in the beginning of the book, he could barely look at her without him being awkward. So since he became more balanced after this peace with Korra, he was then able to produce lightening again.
Ohh it makes sense. Still, I wish they would had reminded us about that detail in this season or showed us how he tried to lighting bend before but couldn't do it.
That doesn't explain why Azula was able to lightning bend at anytime, even though she was stressed and pulling her hair out, as well as mad at not being able to capture the avatar and being mocked during her fight with Zuko and Katara, not to mention at the time she was betrayed by her friends, that couldn't have left her to be balanced after all that.
When Tenzin placed all that attention in Jinora he was reacting to what the President said on the steps. The President said that Korra needed to get better fast so that she could keep saving the world. You could see the pained expression in Tenzin while he was listening. The message that Tenzin was trying to get across was directed at Korra in a clever way. He was saying: 'stay in that wheelchair and take care of yourself. We got this. What you did for us at the temple didn't diminish your light. It multiplied it. Look at what we are because of you. You are stamping your likeness wherever you step and the world is better for it. Thank you, Korra'
Yeah that was the message alright, korra did look EXTREAMLY sad tho, people were saying how she's sad because she thinks the world doesn't need her ( buzzer sound) , I think she's actualy sad because of all that's happened, from Amon to her uncle now this, I mean the amount of enemies she's made is almost to much to beat, with so many near death expiremce a and loss, all her past lives are gone leaving her no guidance for when she's in trouble, and yes although things are fine now she knows it's only a Mayer of time before trouble erupts, that's why she's so depressed at the end of the book :/
Seriously, this Book was not just better than Book One of Avatar but it was up there with Book Two! Can't wait for the final Book. What do you think the title would be?
When Korra and Zaheer were fighting I saw Aang and Ozai clashing, it was just so nostalgic, this season was 1000000000000000000X better than the previous one and I can't wait for the final book 4. Plus, I wonder what Ki/Kai thinks of Jinora's new haircut XD
Chris Hall Did you see how long she survived that poison? How long she suffered trying not to go into the Avatar state because she knew it would be the end of the Avatar cycle, thus throwing the world into chaos? And how long and hard she fought Zahier (I probably butchered that name) even under the influence of that same poison? She fought so hard fighting to save the world that she got stuck in a wheelchair for WEEKS! Sure she was saved by the airbenders (Only about 4 of which were kids btw) but this victory felt 100% EARNED!
I see why people think Zaheer's ability of flight is an ass pull but technically it was foreshadowed the whole book. From when we first read the Guru Laghima locket and when he first mentioned that Guru Laghima achieved flight we should've put two and two together. Not to mention his guy crush on Guru Laghima. I know people think it's an ass pull but it was hinted at for the whole season.
Even in the very first episode hmzaheer was talking about guru Lahima, he even said he was able to fly for the rest of his life, this was foreshadow need since the very beggining but as usual people find a reason to nitpick
perhaps it's not surprising that Bolin can lavabend since he is the child of a earthbender AND a firebender if the creators thought of that for Bolin from book 1 then i'm impressed
For once..... I'm finally able to agree.... Korra has done something better than ATLA .. I'm fucking speechless this episode was so fucking amazing. It's official. This was better than the 1st season of avatar hands fucking down
yea that would be good but as that is in the past, they could make the fourth series with an earth bender in future republic city where everything is modern, imagine a modernised avatar series
I was thinking the same thing, and then they could take it further with the fire avatar and throw in a Batman Beyond sort of vibe into it - that would be awesome :)
Sawyer7mage Am I the only one who finds it funny how Bolin just pushed Opal's mother out of the way as she was about to hug her!? That was a very funny scene xD
What a finale! It's getting darker and darker. When Korra cryed, I was emotional because I felt her pain. She realised that she can't do nothing and she is a person that wants to help people. Korra felt so weak and helpless. Can't wait for book 4!!
When you think about it Amon was attacking bending which Korra takes pride in, thus Amon attacked Korras pride. Unalaq attacked Korras past, and Zaheer was attacking Korras future. Anyone else see this?
Air benders can Fly Fire benders can shoot lightning Earth benders can Lava bend and metal bend Water Benders can blood bend. I kinda think in order to be a Lava Bender you're going to have be a hybrid between a Firebender and a Earth bender, and maybe that's where Bolin got it from. Just a theory.
One complaint I do have with this finale is Mako suddenly reactivating his Gary Stu status. I mean he's not a firebending master and got solidly beaten by Ming Hua the first time yet he was winning against her while in the cave even before using his lightning. Then he's able to blindside Ghazan who's a better bender than both Mako and his brother. So did Mako not feel like trying in the fights before the finale or what?
I actually think that the natural progression after all these events, is to phase out the avatar from the avatar verse. I’m seriously beginning to suspect that that’s how LOK will end, with the people of the world taking responsibility for themselves and keeping the peace and balance (like the air benders have already vowed to do), while korra, who has lost more and more of her staple avatar powers, ends up being the last avatar after all. maybe book four will end with korra releasing raava back into the world, to fill people with good to battle vatuu. be kind sad, but i’td make sense.
but in a way I still hope that the avatar survives after all, because I ain't gonna lie; if konietzko and dimartino and co still feel they have more ideas to explore in this verse, then I'd be first in line to watch another avatar get their own show.
Yeah I'm suspecting the same thing as well... It's been emphasized too much that Korra is going to be the last Avatar/ The era of the Avatar is going to end soon... It's sad but hell I'll take it.
Mako isn't a murderer, its as simple as that. My theory is that Mako avoids using lightning directly on another human being, I mean Aang literally almost died or did when Azula hit him with it. Plus Mako didn't hit water arm lady directly on the body. She was surrounded by a body of water and he used it to conduct electricity onto her.
Plus he is a cop, what good cop would shoot first, ask questions later? Normal firebending would only give you possibly severe but not life threatening burns. Shooting a powerful beam of heat and light..well just stand outside in a thunderstorm with a large metallic pole in hand you'll get my drift lol
Dont Know I was hoping that maybe Gazan causing the cave to collapse would cause the airbenders (meaning Tenzin's family) to get caught in it. Pissing off Tenzin, giving him flight, and whooping Zaheer's ass LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE 3 EPISODES AGO UNTIL THAT FIRE BITCH STOPPED HIM. Oh ya and then they would have survived through Bolin eathbending magic bla bla bla.
FIDEL LAURENA I'm expecting death to be a normal occurence now, minimal blood but some blood, more aggressive lingo. No censoring things like saying "taken out" instead of "killed", etc.
The name of the guard that saved Korra dad is Kuvira and is voiced by Zelda Williams Robin Williams' daughter. Let what her character did sink in for a second..... She saved a father from death. :,( If she isn't a set up for next season I think it was a tribute for her father's death.
The scene with Korra and Asami at the end....."I want you to know, that I'm here for you. If you ever want to talk....or anything." That look on Asami's face said it all. Korrasmi feels like its a possibility...perhaps there's another change on Korra's horizon.
Well one can hope. Book 4 may be the last book, they might share a moment, even if its rebuffed, anything is possible. Even if they don't, I just really appreciate their closeness. The character growth was amazing in this book. I will ship Korrasami in my heart. Yay for GirlsLove! This finale was beast from start to finish! Best book yet!
How come all conflicts in Korra get solved on some bullshit? Korra randomly starts airbending against Amon/Noatak after getting her bending taken away at the end of season one, She randomly emits herself as a giant blue colossus after having Rava removed from her at the end of season two, and now at the end of season three the poison ends up being conveniently metallic based so Sue can remove it. I was really hoping this was going to be the season that didn't end in bullshit but it wasn't to be.
This season was 10/10, simply amazing. I've never felt so sorry for Korra at all especially during that last scene. Based on her hallucinations earlier (Plus Zaheer and the red lotus deeply it), she really is grasping the idea that the world might not need her. And with the Air Nation stepping in to take her place as balance protecter while she heals it was sort of like "Korra we really don't need you anymore". Then she shed that last tear before it ended. The feels. Also between the Earth Queen asphyxiation, Ming Hua's electrocution, Ghazan attempted suicide and P'Li's self destruction. I'd say this season had some of the most brutal deaths.
I think Korra cried at the end not because she has changed, but because she sees that she might be better of not existing for the world. The hallucinations she had of seeing amon, unoluk and vatuu telling her that the world doesnt need her might be sinking in. She might think she is not a good avatar since she was almost killed with zaheer and this was the 3rd time she almost let the world down. Seeing how tenzin said that the air nomads are going to help others that are in turmoil after the earth queen's death, makes it seem that they are capable of restoring balance without Korra. She is tired of screwing up things that she feels like she is not worthy(even though without her screw up there wouldnt be the new air nomads) Finally, did anyone notice that the Napoleon Dynamite guy joined the air nomads? lol
That and because of how many peole tried to kill her and her family , friends etc, considering his nothing changes with the fact she wil always have enemies, But I guess that plays a factor aswell .
Can we just agree that Korra takes unbelievable abuse as the Avatar. Book 1: Loses bending except for air. Book 2: Has Raava beaten out of her, has previous lives erased. Book 3: Poisoned and possibly paralyzed, emotionally crippled. Book 4: I don't even want to know.
That's why I think she was so sad, it's like what's the point f being the avatar if the world is never gona change? I'm sure that's what her mindset is I mean, look how many times her and her loved ones almost got killed
Minato D Roger wattttt no she hasn't. Pre-Book 1-Book 1: Got trapped in a iceberg and found out his whole entire nation died, there has been a 100 year war going on and that the whole world basically thought he wasn't dead/didn't exist. Fire nation was basically winning the war when Aang came in. Book 2: Gets lighting to his back while in the avatar state alongside losing Appa for a good chunk of the season (who is his only real connection to the past). The world basically thinks he is dead again and the Earth Kingdom collapses. Aang has now failed twice. Book 3: Fails a third time at the fire nation. Brah, Aang went through way more shit especially with his whole entire nation be exterminated.
Am i the only one that feels like Korra was holding back a secret at the end of book 3? almost like she was sad for something no one knows about except her i hope im wrong but i think Korra is the last Avatar
Also, I see people saying Bolin's parents were Earth + Fire = Lava. This is a no no and would be an even greater ass pull. If mixed benders existed, then we would have seen A LOT MORE of these mixed bending abilities before now. This would make it seem as if Bolin is one of the first mixed benders in the entire history of the Avatar universe. Furthermore, the ability to use two different elements like that and mix them should only be available to the Avatar.
It's not mixed bending. That is impossible to be done by a person who is not the avatar..What you saw was the Lava Bender and Bolin bending the Earth to a very high degree and spin to generate heat and friction to spawn lava. That is how it works in real life, my child. All lava is a high temperature melted rock. There is no fire bending involve.
Marcus Allen Pretty much this. A greater asspull was giving Lightning to Fire Benders, in the first series. It would make more sense giving it to Water Benders, since they can create the necessary friction with Ice.
MrCironn How would that even make sense?? Water is a conductor for lightning. A water bender would kill themselves if they ever tried to use it....It would make sense for it to be a fire bending move because lightning is just a high temperature above 18,000 degrees which is what a fire bender can generate. How could a water bender generate something like that?
Marcus Allen How do you think Lightning occurs in nature? There is no Fire in clouds, only Water, Air and Ice. When the Ice drops in the clouds collide with each other, they cause friction, which proceeds to generate Lightning... How it would not make sense?
MrCironn What you're talking about is thunderstorm, where lightning is only a part of it. Lightning is the transfer of electrons produced by a too big accumulation of energy (ice drops causing friction during thunderstorm). So, firebenders separating their energy (used to produce fire) and then releasing only what is necessary to conduct lightning would make more sense than waterbenders in my opinion. Of course the whole thing is supernatural and involves chi, so science may not be useful there.
I assumed Mako held back lightning bending because he didn't want to kill. After he does it you get a quick look at him and he just has a shocked expression (though he bounces back fast). Also entirely inappropriate not the right moment for it, but I can't help it the KorraSami was so strong I was just waiting for the kiss.
Korra's character really got developed. It was just amazing to see how she broke down in tears because it really reveals how much hardship she could take which made her character more realistic.
Will we meet Zaheer again? Will we ever find out Mako's laziness towards lightning? Will Korra and Asami finally get together? Find out next time on AVATAR Z!
We will most definitly see zaheer again, otherwise they would've pronounced him dead. Plus I believe Tenzin said "We don't even know if there are more red lotus members", so I think the red lotus will help zaheer escape once again
Actually, I think we will see everyone accept for P'li again. I dont see why the lava guy wouldn't be immune to lava if he wanted to be, just like fire benders are if they force the fire to not touch them. And minwa could easily have woken up before the walls collapsed and created an Ice cave, with all the water there it could be extremely thick. I just hope I'm right, cuz i fcking love these villains.
Best season of Legend of Korra Possibly best season of Avatar as a series. Best fights, villains, and plot. it was just amazing and I was feelin throughout the season
Im willing to bet that Korra has had the worst Avatar term in history... Book 1: Gets her bending taken away. Book 2: Had raava ripped out of her and lost her connection to all the past avatars. Book 3: Poisoned and forced into the Avatar State only to be killed and brought back to life.
1. Losing bending DOESN'T MATTER! There are so many good non-bending characters in ATLA that did amazing things, so even if she did "lose" her bending she could still help people. 2. I personally hate the Raava and the Vatu shit but I guess that counts. 3. Aang was forced to believe his friends katara and sokka were killed in front of him to force him into the avatar state, he also believed at the time when fighting azula in the caves it was a good idea to let go of all worldly desires. Of course he was also the "cause" of his own people's genocide.
Holy shit... this finale was orgasmic. And I seriously dont get it. Why did they pull the series off TV? I'm so damn excited about Season 4. I hope they dont cancel the show after that. The only thing I didn't like was Jinora getting bald. Her face in combination with that haircut was so damn cute....
Didn't TLA have like 2 books per season? Or like 20+ episodes or something like that? It's been years since I've seen it, but this show is approaching it's final season and that sucks :/ Zaheer needs to make a return in the 4th season. He was incredible. This season was incredible.
Yeah Korras are focused on the main plot of each book, with little side questing. In tlab it's all over the place with random stories, and then they get to the main plot.
jojo kyle I wonder how they're gonna make Season 4 better. This was just....too good lol. I do appreciate the darker turn into the story. People are dying left and right. The entire story was just darker than usual and I really enjoyed that. I hope they keep it up.
It's a cool idea, but only the avatar can bend more than one element, so i doubt it, i mean lava is just heated rock so i think its classed only as earthbending. if it was because his mum was a firebender it makes the entire avatar thing kinda wrong since other people can bend more than 1 element...
Nah, if you think about it it isn't much different from metal bending. It is a skill that has always been there, just so few people actually tried to use it. Lava is really no different from water benders being able to change their water to ice and back, no reason to think others couldn't do it.
Lava bending and fire bending are unrelated. Lava is just liquid earth. All Bolin and Ghazan do is alter the structure and phase, sort of like water benders turning water into ice.
I think book 4 we will be visiting the Fire Nation. Book 1 Air: Republic City and Air Temple Island (Air). Book 2 Spirits: Southern Water Tribe (Water). Book 3 Change: Ba Sing Se and Zao fu (Earth). Book 4 ???? : Fire Nation City/Lightning based city? (Fire) Just some thoughts in mind... also the place where Korra was being held captive was very similar to the crlCystal Catacombs. I was expecting Korra to Crystal bend and use it as armour lol. My favorite book besides fire really the only problem I had is that I was hoping we would get a cliff hanger and we would see the Elemental 4 the next book. That is not really a problem when I think of it just a nit pick.
No the crystal catacombs was to reminiscent of TLA, just like where Korra fought Zaheer, looks similar to where Aang fought ozai. Same thing with jinora looking like Aang.
Not gonna lie i felt for Korra at the end. She has been through a shit load as avatar even more than aang and now she is out of commission that tear at the end though. RIP P'li man that back story was deep and that death gruesome no lie. Yea i do think bolin and mako got random ass power ups to win but they had to beat ming and gazan. I don't blame them i wouldn't go back to jail either. Jinora looks so damn weird bald though LOLOL.
But Mako didn't get powered up like Bolin. He's already been established at being a decent lightning bender. Unless you count common sense as a power up.
@Minato D Roger I agree it just came down to location. Tbh I was wondering when mako was gonna fry her ass with lighting. It's just such an obvious weakness since Ming is almost always covered with water lol
The death cap in the last 2 episodes was more than the very first episode of The Last Airbender up until season 3 of Korra episode 12. Love the darkness. Book 3 was just perfect in my eyes. And the last Bolin joke '' put a sock in it'' almost killed me. CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 4!
I think the reason why Korra was crying was because her worst fear was coming true........... the world will no longer need the Avatar because the Air nomads were going to keep balance in the world.
Oh I didn't think about that but you're right. The very thing her hallucinations were chanting about came true. There is now a viable replacement for the avatar.
Huh that makes sense...the separation between man and spirit is no longer there, so the point of the Avatar being a bridge between the two worlds is no longer necessary, and the Air Nomads will try to maintain balance and peace which means the Avatar will no longer be needed in that area either. So pretty much what's the point of having an Avatar now? Lol
+REPTAR COOT they were always "nomads" so I Dont think they will save the world.. it will become just like in aang's era. Nomads will travel around the world. . But the avatar will always be needed to stop wars and fight angry spirits like yang Chen did
I thought she was crying how of stressful and annoying it is to be the avatar, but I guess you guys could be right too, I mean if I were her I'd be pissed, Everyone trying to kill me every season n shit , nearly getting the avatar cycle destroyed 3 times idk, I thought she's be crying because like, what's the point
Because she thinks that she's a fuck-up and irrelevant, like her drug-induced hallucinations taunted her, and the Air Nomads doing what's supposedly *her* job confirms and reinforces that belief for her, leading to further feelings of inadequacy and irrelevance. Tl;dr she's in a negative spiral of self loathing and depression.
I wouldn't be surprised if she spends a whole month in catatonic state, looking through window and just sitting there. That hallucination fucked her up HARD.
I think the next book will focus on her recovering and she will focus on the airbenders philosophies and probably meditate and stuff and eventually re attach with her past avatars.
It wasn't just the halicanation, It was everything, she's probably taking into perspective of everything that's happened, Ravaa, vatuu, wan, what avatar an what through not to mention everything she went through, she's probably thinking to herself " what's the point" considering how many times she's been killed, the amount of chaos that's been going around not only in her time, but as far as avatar WANs time. I feel as off the poison just made her deeply look into herself and just caused her to really think about everything which lead to a very depressed outcome, Hell I'm sure if any one of us were Korra or the avatar, we would defintatly stop and think " what is the point of all of this"
Jay 26 I agree she's definitely a different person. As well as a different avatar. Its sad and to be honest I never hated korra. I needed a reason to like her though. Seeing what she has face and is facing is amazing how well she's matured. I feel like she wants to give up now giving from how sad and broken she looks at the end. It might be tears of happiness, but I doubt it. She seems more relatable too. Also I think we might see more of the old gang..I don't think Sokka was confirmed dead right?? Also did anyone see katara? I didn't... How odd u would think she would appear for her granddaughter...
***** Korra and Aang probably had the toughest time out of all avatars. For 3 seasons evil assholes were trying to kill her just because she was avatar and all 3 times they nearly succeeded. The amount of abuse she was taking is insane. That last fight completely broke her mentally and physically. I hope she won't be trying to kill herself. And yes, Sokka is confirmed dead, Toph is missing for years and presumed dead (I'm pretty sure we'll see her in S4). Creators also said that we might see Azula again.
I love how the villains die ironically. In some fashion, it’s all by their own hand in their own element. P’li blows herself up when Su cages her skull in as she’s attacking. Ming-Hua is electrocuted to death when Mako turns her water against her. Ghazan boils alive and is crushed, preferring to die instead of be locked up yet again. They all suffer the consequences of their own actions. Fantastic parallels beautifully executed. Literally.
Yup... pretty much my face when the credits started to roll. Zaheer was, without a doubt, the best villain this show has had. Granted, his ideologies had some holes, but overall, the most badass foe Korra has faced. And as such, he cannot leave the hero without some scars, both physical and mental. Book four will be a nice way of exploring and resolving those consequences, as we get more and more close to the finish line for this show. Summing up: this has been the most solid season finale this show has had. P.S. You can fully understand the title for that season finale when you see Korra crying at the end.
I don't get why Katara wasn't at the ceremony thing for Jinora. Like why wouldn't she be there to see her granddaughter become an airbending master? Did she die and we just didn't know?
What can I say about this Season that hasn't been said already? It was just amazing. On par with the very best of Avatar! I loved that Zaheer entered the void after losing his one tether to the earth. Thus he was free at last and as Iroh said "Air is the element of freedom." So it makes perfect sense why that's the subset of Airbending and how Zaheer was able to unlock it. The final battle was incredibly intense and I loved every second!
This season hands down was the best season EVER. Holy cow, the look in Korra eyes you can see that she has come a long way, she now sees what it takes to truly call herself the Avatar; And the way Jinora looked at the end made me cry. All I could picture is Aang and how proud he would be of her, Tenzin and Korra. I too am looking forward to the next step in this series.
Would it make sense for the creators to make a prequel to Korra, meaning the sequel to The Last Air Bender. It would be kind of strange but interesting. Do a little time skip 10 years after the end of the first Avatar get to see what Aang went through as an adult.
This season finale was better than book one of Last Airbender's Finale, but you people have gone STUPID if you think the WHOLE book was better!! Aang's development was amazing, Korra has improved but...ughhhh
It kinda was though. I mean the development of ALL the characters this season was great! Not to mention the amazing story and breathtaking bending battles! IMO it was even up there with Book 2 of ATLA(but not better, cause that will probably always be the best season of the Avatar franchise!)
***** Now, before I start - I love, love, LOVE Korra as a character over Aang. She easily is the most developed main Avatar character that we've gotten in this entire franchise. But I cannot just take something that says that Aang didn't develop at all during the series, which is just not true. Aang was not "always cheerful". His main struggle was always that he didn't want to become the Avatar and take on the responsibilities that comes with that title. His development is in the fact that he gradually accepts that takes the role that he is assigned to; not to mention the many parallels with Zuko. Aang's story is a typical bildungsroman, but its one that is fruitful and displays great change in the character.
The finale blew my mind(And P'li's). It went well beyond my expectations and left me with wanting more. Despite Season 2's flaws, I still found it very enjoyable, though I will say, I wasn't super excited for the the next season. With season 3, they had 1 tear drop down Korra's face and I'm raring to go for season 4 because I'm really interested to see what her struggle is about, as it was left sorta vague. A lot has happened to her, but you don't really know why she's down in the dumps. When you think about it though, Amon, Unaloq, and Zaheer have a point. The time of the Avatar has indeed ended. The Avatar was made to do 2 things. The first was stop Vaatu after he was severed from Raava. The next was to be the bridge between the Earthly realm and the Spirit World. With Vaatu gone, and the Spirit Portals open, I think Korra has come to the same conclusion I have; the Avatar has no purpose anymore. Season 4 will about Korra trying to find a reason for the Avatar's continued existence.
Seeing Jinora get her tattoos this season was so worth it especially to see how much she resembles Aang. Shes without a doubt my favorite character of LOK. She's earned it. Developing Astral projection, saving the Avatar twice and being a teacher to a whole nation and the Avatar. She's honestly shown the most growth out of any character in this series. Not to mention the nostalgia of seeing a strong, young, smart, character who doesn't have some overbearing trait that tries to make you invest in her. Just a nice mix of her own unique assets and actual progress as a character. I hope she learns how to fly and develops another form along the way maybe gravity or sound.
I used to always say Aang's state was way better than Korra's. But in this finale.. wow, Korra went ape sh*t. Before it was pretty lack luster but if she wasn't fighting the poison while battling Zaheer, he's completely dead right now.
Difference is that Zaheer entered the void and became one the wind. Also, Aang used Air as a medium to fly (Air Sphere). It seemed Zaheer could simply will himself where he wanted to go, which no other benders have been able to do. Fire benders, Air Benders with air Spouts, sphere's, they all use Air or fire as a medium to travel in on or with. Zaheer doesn't and it makes him alot more versatile.
The Red Lotus members are all stronger benders than everyone else (except Tenzin, he would have kicked Zaheer's ass), therefore our heroes used alternative methods in order to defeat them.
My nigga Mako finally lightning bended that water benders ass he seems to only use the lightning for special occasions lol. And when Bolin pushed Su out the way and hugged Opal lol. This was a great episode anybody else though Jinora looks exactly like Aang with her bald head and tattoo's I was confused as heck. Can't wait for the next season plz don't cry Korra :'(
I actually felt my eyes water when I saw the last scene of Korra crying. Just remembering when she started out as someone naive yet adventurous, impulsive yet energetic. She really did grow on me. From Book 1, a girl seeing the world outside of her birthplace. To Book 2, a girl spiritually understanding the importance of having an Avatar. To Book 3 where we see a transition from a girl to a woman, battling the loss of her connection to the Avatars, and facing a new era of balance. Now Book 4 will most definitely show a woman battling her most thought out demons. I just hope I can see that fiery spirit of Korra once more when TLOK ends.
1. Zaheer is just an extremest version of Jean Jaques Rousseau 2. HOLY BALLS! Zaheer got like $300,000+ worth of SOLID platinum to chain up Korra! Jesus Christ man! Where do you find that shit!
CCKonnor Well Asami's dad was basically henry ford (even helping the enemy, Hiroshi helped the Equalists, Ford helped Nazi Germany) he owned the largest "Satomobile" company in the world so he had money.
There is something special about the legend of korra. The atmosphere and characters make this show special. I remember the first time I marathon this series I was mad depressed because my grandfather had passed away and I watched the 1st 2 seasons in one sitting and it made me forget about my dead grandpa at the time. It's so amazing how anime and something like the legend of korra can really help u through dark times. My Fridays won't be complete without this and Jojo's bizarre adventure which is ending soon but I still got Tokyo ESP and fairy tail so I'm straight. And next year we get season 4 of legend of korra and the second half of Jojo's bizarre adventure season 3 so I'm hyped for that
This is the best written review I've seen for The Legend of Korra: Enter the Void/Venom of the Red Lotus is the best finale of Korra, and one of the best pair of episodes in the franchise. Which is fitting, because Book Change has been the only season of Legend of Korra that is punching in AtLA's weight class. While Change has suffered no blunders, it isn't mistake free, and there are even minor miscues in its finale which have been nagging issues all season. Let's talk about those first. Jinora is no master airbender. She's simply not shown to be one. She has an understated role in the story, and a lot of her personal growth is instead given to a new character. While the end scene has her as the focus, it feels unearned. It's another bit of disappointing circumstance for her character, because she has potential for interesting character dynamics with Tenzin and Korra. While her initiation scene actually works, it's in spite of her (I'll specify why later). Jinora's most recurring contribution to the show is being a person of relative importance for another character to save or mourn over, while her lack of character development and ability leaves much to be desired in the wake of all the meaningful plot she is integral to. The writers of the show have already admitted to not knowing how or why Jinora does what she does, so I suppose they want us to forget all of that and focus on how much she looks like Aang. The new (old) look is snazzy on her, at least. The other problem element is the general lack of cohesiveness with Team Avatar. They are always cordoned off into doing separate things, and not much of the plot rolls through that group as a whole. Aang and his entourage faced most of the story together, and were stronger characters for it. While each member of the LoK team found something to do in the finale, only Mako and Bolin supported each other in battle. It doesn't make for great group dynamics when so much of who each of these characters are is determined in absence of one another. Which really is another way of saying they're generally boring when together at best, and actively destructive at worst. Aside from the aforementioned issues - which have been entrenched problems with the series almost since LoK began - the finale was perfect. I want to first point out that the choreography and animation of the show has been outstanding all season, but especially here. You really get a feel for these characters - most evidently in the flow of battle. For example: in the brothers' runback with Ghazan and Ming Hua, Bolin is more confident in his attacks because he's emboldened by being able to lavabend. And although he's now more of a match for Ghazan, the latter still gets the upper hand due to experience before Mako makes it a 2v1. All of this would have been apparent even if the characters never said a word. Another fine example is how Korra is characterized as a berserk force of nature when she's in the Avatar State, dying from poison. She's jumping around like Ang Lee's HULK and rocketbending like Ozai. It speaks to both Korra's natural disposition and her mental state at the time. A true force of elemental power. Everything that happened was extremely clear and readable. It let the drama build organically because the characters moved and reacted to things believably. In this sole important avenue does LoK actually hold a slight edge to AtLA. It's a sign of the times in advancement of technique and technology. Beautifully executed animation. The rest of the finale builds on top of the fine foundation set by the animation. Multiple arcs, both plot and character, reach relatively satisfying conclusions. And most importantly, nothing was contrived and everything makes sense (with respect to the season it is contained). This is an important factor, one lesson Mike and Bryan no doubt have learned from the reaction to Book Air's finale. When the audience spends so much time trying to make sense of what's happening on screen and why, it detracts from the entire production. We know how Zaheer can fly, we know why Korra is limited while in the Avatar State, and we know that is how Zaheer is able to overcome a fully powered Avatar, when otherwise he would have no chance. Best of all, it all occurs due to the agency displayed by the characters themselves. The plot is carried by them, the major characters; not in spite of them. Coincidences such as a random rock outcropping being the deciding factor of the drama does not occur in Change's finale. One such arc that I don't see mentioned often is Bolin and Mako's mini rivalry with Ming Hua and Ghazan. I understand why it's not really talked about given how it's mostly incidental within the plot, but bits of small characterization can be extracted from their interactions. While Bolin gaining lavabending is an obvious result of this particular plot elements, it also allows the viewer to see some humanizing aspects of the criminals such as Ghazan and Ming Hua's possible courtship and how Ghazan is respectful of his opponents in battle. It's small stuff that goes a bit of a way in making the viewer care for the antagonists. Or at least understand a bit about who the characters are. It's these little things that help make Change so superior to the other books in the series. Possibilities arise from small directions in writing or animation. Photographs are scrutinized, lines are debated. The writing also smartly veered from the failing romance plotting and refocused around the moralities and tenets of airbending culture. It was the first time in Legend of Korra that the major plot and motivations of the characters honestly complemented each other throughout the season. The rebuilding of a culture was Korra's goal from the beginning of the season, and it is within that culture that her foil and possible downfall is immersed. All the plot is in service or tangential to this paradigm. Because of all this can the main character finally grow. Korra has constantly been struggling as a character, as a leader, and as the Avatar. She's at her lowest point yet. The end scene is effective because of her. To be Korra is to be powerful, for better or worse. In that wheel chair, looking on at Jinora's finest moment, she sees both the product of her leadership, and her possible replacement(s). While it's a foregone conclusion that Korra will return to form, this situation she has been put in will be the first time Korra is truly confronted with obsolescence. It will, for a time, strip her of her most identifiable feature and force her to truly understand what the cost of battle can be and what the realities of being a leader are. Legend of Korra: Change has been a positive change on multiple fronts, ultimately bringing us to the main character's most fundamental challenge. Perhaps the most valuable thing this season has given me is the belief that the writing can be competent enough to follow through on most of the plot points introduced.
My god, this was the best analysis of the series i have read so far. Great points about both the strengths and weaknesses. I completely agree with you when it comes to the smallest of details giving you more depth to the characters than you first realize. Since this series is now more mature than it has ever been, including TLAB, ideas and character development aren't being handed to us as easily as they were before. And I love that cuz it allows us to interpret the series and truly appreciate it as art.
I actually wonder why everyone knows that the cycle will end when the avatar dies in the avatar state. I mean there was never an Avatar that died in the avatar state you know what I'm saying?
Also, the moment when Zaheer pushed her off the cliff and she fell on her legs... does anyone else think that's one of the reasons she's in a wheelchair, aside from the poison?
My favorite moments or people in this whole season have to be: (No particular order) 1.) Korra. She really came a long way. I love her depth in her character. That slow growth to maturity. 2.) Asami and Korra's friendship. My recent OTP. 3.) Jinora's resemblance to Aang at the end. The feels. And her character as a person. 4.) Bumi airbending. I'm glad he was chosen. 5.) The elemental four. Not so much Zaheer for me. 6.) Zuko and Iroh 7.) The Metal clan 8.) Kai. Reminds me of a delinquent version of Aang. 9.) Maybe the whole season *Book 4 I'm ready for you. 😤
I think now would be the best time for Korra to re-establish her connections with her past lives...didn't aang do something similar after he was "broken"
Not likely as this season hints that she lost the connection all together. She can't access them anymore and she's technically the first avatar of this new cycle: meaning she only has Raava.
zero ah no they consistently dump on katara in this series eg: why the hell wasnt she at her granddaughters anointment? how the hell did zuko supposedly know aang better then katara ? when aang/ katara where together for 52yrs
I felt sooooo freaking bad for korra. I didn't think they'd keep her in that condition after the big battle. And she really DID look beaten down. Almost depressed. Even watching Genorra she wasn't like all into it. The fact that the animators were able to draw Korra in a way that made you able to really SEE how much she's gone through is just amazing. I haven't felt this bad for an animated character in a while. I need season 4 to come faster
I really thought that The Red Lotus had something to do with Sokka and Aang's death. I'm really hoping that the fourth book will be in the fire nation. Great review, as always. Book 3 was amazing.
suspicion: Su is actually a member of the red lotus, but for some personal motive didn't mind joining in on the attack on zaheer's crew. She seemed suspicious in the discussion in the airship (she was talking a lot more than the others), Also, how did she know how to bend that metal poison out of Korra so well? Also, Su's metal city seems like one of those "anarchical" cities with no real rulers. the creators spared Zaheer for book 4 (they specifically mentioned that he was imprisoned, not executed, i think the creators want to make sure to mention that), so maybe Su will play a part in freeing him. i think the guy who could detect lies was also a red lotus member (what happened to him?) prediction: Opal will become a spy for Su on the airbenders. She will betray the airbenders.
the guy who can detect lies was thrown in the fog of lost souls. I was thinking about Zaheer's imprisonment? he can just go into the Spirit World because he is just in the Prison!, Considering the spirit portals open, he can just roam around the physical world.
Lance Araneta Maybe this wasn't mentioned before, but they could have put Zaheer's spirit in the fog of lost souls since Tenzin was able to navigate his way around there in the past book. This would stop him both physically and spiritually from escaping.
I don't think su is part pf the red lotus. But zaheer can just proyect himself like Jinora and travel around everywhere while his body is in jail. He can contact any other members of the red lotus x.x
Nice review Sawyer! As I stated last week on your vid, this is easily the best season of Korra, and probably top 3 for the Avatar series as a whole. All the action was really great, Zaheer learning to fly was cool. The rest of the Red lotus all dying in battle Ghazan vs Volin, Ming-Hua vs Mako and P'Li vs Lin and Suyin were all great fights. Bolin learning lava bending was great! Zaheer trying to trick team Korra and co by having Ming-Hua use her water to make them look like airbenders was pretty smart. Korra being poisoned and forced into the Avatar state to be killed was crazy!! A fantastic fight between Zaheer and Korra, the animation was some of the best I've seen in the series! And to see Korra's condition after everything was done, was just, wow! Jinora taking charge and having the airbenders make a hurricane was awesome. And seeing her finally get her head shaven and getting her arrow was a nice touch at the end. Nice to see the airbenders extend there territory to take over for Korra. Don't know where they go from here since Zaheer was the leader of the Red Lotus. There is a lot more members, but nobody on his level.
I agree 100% with the animations during Korra and Zaheer's battle. I felt like a camera crew were following them and we were getting a live look! UGH! It was so beautiful! And I think that your argument is so right about Zaheer, it shows how Zaheer's ideals are not perfect, and there will always be some sort of force trying to destroy balance, truly showing the darkness and Vaatu in these people. "She's never looked stronger in my eyes." That was perfectly said. I don't think she was crying cuz she was so broken, your right. It was like Aang seeing the air nation back on its feet after he lost it all. I think she was torn between happiness and all of the terror she has been through. I love Aang and he was so powerful, but Korra has been through so much darkness, and her in the wheelchair is really a shot to the heart cuz it showed how much of a toll this has all had on her. That is why this is truly the *Legend* of Korra.
Hey Sawyer so if the poison was metallic then its logical that a metalbender injected it therefore Sue was able to retract it so your theory of Sue being a traitor could be possible since the poisoner could come from the metal clan but will see in season 4 if this is correct.
Just my thoughts but maybe the reason Korra was crying is that when she saw Jinnora she saw Aang instead and that reminded her of how lonely she felt as an Avatar (everyone mentions that they're here for her but connections to past lives are different). Or perhaps she felt the guilt of endangering Raava again? She has a loss of purpose? Korra became blinded after the metal poisoning and wishes she could witness the tattoos of a new airbending master? She feels like a terrible Avatar for relying on the Air Nomads to help restore balance, or relief? But I love that in the air vacuum, air acted as Zaheer's cage although he said air was necessary like freedom. And I cried at every shot of the Northern Air Temple. Much love for this Book.
HOLY SHIT!! The emotions in that finale. I did not expect Jinora to go bald, or Korra to be wheel bound, or Zaheer to live, etc. Absolutely insane. I am curious to see how Jinora, Tenzin, and Korra will adapt. Also was it just me or was there heavy lesbian undertones (more than usual) between Korra and Asami?
So Here are my predictions for book 4. Remaining Red Lotus members will break through and get Zaheer out of Prison somehow. Non-Bender main antagonist The Gang will go to the Fire Nation and meet Zuko's daughter Red Lotus would still be seeking for Global Chaos Bolin trying to learn making Lava appear from the ground Korrasami
Mako always used lightning, just not often. Remember how he worked in the power plant in Book One? Yeah, he can use it but it's not his default. In his character profile (the official one) it says that lightning is his favorite weapon to use. Even so, great review man
Oh man... O_O
Update: The name of the metal bender is Kuvira and was voiced by Robin Williams's daughter. I wish I had known this BEFORE, that way I could've made a connection with her being the one who SAVED a fatherly figure in the show.
This shit cray.
rip in peace p'li ;c
According to the series platinum is un bendable, for now
About the captain, probably because her voice actor is Zelda Williams? I don't know, considering her father's recent death made me think that was the reason
That was amazing, I hope we still get to see young Zuko like promised !
for all the Korra vs Aang debates, I would like to put it in perspective.
I've said my piece.
thank you! you've framed the debate in a very mature, considerate, and articulate manner which many people here have not
I also like to point out that the debate Aang vs Korra is a stupid debate I have ever heard and only goes to show how retarded some people are. Why? Well because Korra is Aang's reincarnation, therefore KORRA AND AANG ARE THE SAME PERSON!
The reason why Mako didn't lightning bend before was because
in the original, Iroh talked about how you needed to be balanced and level headed to be able to make lightening.
This is the only explanation that makes sense. Well done Bailey ^^
Mako never seemed very proficient at Lightning Bend. He used it only on key moments and situations. I never had a problem with this.
Yeah that was the message alright, korra did look EXTREAMLY sad tho, people were saying how she's sad because she thinks the world doesn't need her ( buzzer sound) , I think she's actualy sad because of all that's happened, from Amon to her uncle now this, I mean the amount of enemies she's made is almost to much to beat, with so many near death expiremce a and loss, all her past lives are gone leaving her no guidance for when she's in trouble, and yes although things are fine now she knows it's only a Mayer of time before trouble erupts, that's why she's so depressed at the end of the book :/
completely!! well put
Probably indifferent because he will have to get the same one soon XD
No one can ever talk smack about Korra (The character) ever again, just look at what she accomplished this season. Long Live Korra!
Just so you know, I read this in Toph's voice xD
;)
Amen! Long Live Avatar Korra!!
she lost. Aang won his battle by himself, Korra nearly died and had a bunch of kids save her.
Even in the very first episode hmzaheer was talking about guru Lahima, he even said he was able to fly for the rest of his life, this was foreshadow need since the very beggining but as usual people find a reason to nitpick
perhaps it's not surprising that Bolin can lavabend since he is the child of a earthbender AND a firebender
if the creators thought of that for Bolin from book 1 then i'm impressed
I thought about that too. If that is the case then he has always had the aptitude for lava bending considering the genetics.
gtfo u stole this comment
Josh John did not check all comments b4 posting
***** But it's an earthbending sub skill logically being liquid rock and all. It's just a special one.
For once..... I'm finally able to agree.... Korra has done something better than ATLA ..
I'm fucking speechless this episode was so fucking amazing.
It's official.
This was better than the 1st season of avatar hands fucking down
Rory Neville now yes this was a good episode as was the majaority of book 3 however i still take issue with the series treatment of katara
Imo this season was one of the darkest season. I liked it :))
Book 4 will be even better!
Arent you disappointed now.
Nope!
Book 3 + 4 >>> Book 1 and 2 of ATLA
also when korra said " when i escape none of you will survive" i was just like dayum
She was basically saying "I'm gonna kill all of you!!" This show was intense. Loved it
The Avatar series can conclude when I see both an earth and a fire bending AVATAR.
wan was fire
spieue i think it would be nice to just get an avatar series based on wan.
yea that would be good but as that is in the past, they could make the fourth series with an earth bender in future republic city where everything is modern, imagine a modernised avatar series
I was thinking the same thing, and then they could take it further with the fire avatar and throw in a Batman Beyond sort of vibe into it - that would be awesome :)
***** like a webseries? that would be amazing
Sawyer7mage Am I the only one who finds it funny how Bolin just pushed Opal's mother out of the way as she was about to hug her!? That was a very funny scene xD
Or when he stuffed a sock in Zaheer's mouth lol.
What a finale! It's getting darker and darker. When Korra cryed, I was emotional because I felt her pain. She realised that she can't do nothing and she is a person that wants to help people. Korra felt so weak and helpless. Can't wait for book 4!!
Agreed, she is broken and looks a little traumatized by everything that's happen
When you think about it Amon was attacking bending which Korra takes pride in, thus Amon attacked Korras pride. Unalaq attacked Korras past, and Zaheer was attacking Korras future. Anyone else see this?
Air benders can Fly
Fire benders can shoot lightning
Earth benders can Lava bend and metal bend
Water Benders can blood bend.
So did Mako not feel like trying in the fights before the finale or what?
ming hua’s death was shocking
p’li’s death was mind blowing
and ghazan’s suicide was earth shattering
The way su killed P'li was so brutal holy shit. Im surprised they went so far as to kill them all except zaheer
I was hoping Tenzin or someone would lose their cool and just kill Zaheer right then and there lol
The next season will probably be TV-14, I wany to hear Korra say "Im the Avatar b*tch"
FIDEL LAURENA
I'm expecting death to be a normal occurence now, minimal blood but some blood, more aggressive lingo. No censoring things like saying "taken out" instead of "killed", etc.
SBroproductions
Or what if Korra's dad got pissed and slit Zaheer's throat with an ice blade? lol
The name of the guard that saved Korra dad is Kuvira and is voiced by Zelda Williams Robin Williams' daughter. Let what her character did sink in for a second..... She saved a father from death. :,( If she isn't a set up for next season I think it was a tribute for her father's death.
Oh wow really? =/ Was she already apart of the Korra staff before or no?
Dont Know Yeah she was
Wow really holy crap.
Dont Know yes, she was in previous episodes when Korra was visiting Zaofu.
Dam did know that
The scene with Korra and Asami at the end....."I want you to know, that I'm here for you.
And it's canon
sokka would be so proud of bolin's sock joke
Better than "The Loser Lord" joke he made after the defeat of Ozai
I can just imagine a young Sokka walking out and saying, "Now this is funny! Wanna compare jokes over some cactus juice?"
She is tired of screwing up things that she feels like she is not worthy(even though without her screw up there wouldnt be the new air nomads)
Finally, did anyone notice that the Napoleon Dynamite guy joined the air nomads? lol
maybe she's in pain from mercury poisoining, Minamata disease
That and because of how many peole tried to kill her and her family , friends etc, considering his nothing changes with the fact she wil always have enemies, But I guess that plays a factor aswell .
But she definitely DID change. And it's because of that change that she is able to tap into her more emotional side!
Can we just agree that Korra takes unbelievable abuse as the Avatar.
Book 1: Loses bending except for air.
Book 2: Has Raava beaten out of her, has previous lives erased.
Book 3: Poisoned and possibly paralyzed, emotionally crippled.
Book 4: I don't even want to know.
she has been through a shit load more than aang no lie.
You should've named yourself Swagheer
Book 4: Death. I think the show is called the Legend of Korra for a underlying reason
That's why I think she was so sad, it's like what's the point f being the avatar if the world is never gona change? I'm sure that's what her mindset is I mean, look how many times her and her loved ones almost got killed
Minato D Roger
wattttt no she hasn't.
Am i the only one that feels like Korra was holding back a secret at the end of book 3? almost like she was sad for something no one knows about except her
i hope im wrong but i think Korra is the last Avatar
i have the same feeling
MrCironn
What you're talking about is thunderstorm, where lightning is only a part of it.
I'll be back. Just you wait and see.
How that sock taste bro?
Lmao
P'Li won't...ooooh too soon?
ITS ZAHEER! D:
Selim Bradley
It tastes pretty FLY, if you know what I'm talking about.
"Say hello to the Earth Queen for me."
Zaheer is such a badass!
breathing underwater has been done air-benders can make air bubbles and water benders can more or less do the same thing
Heck Katara can freeze herself in a block of ice and be fine. Just breath out and it becomes water.
Water bender's can also make air pocket's underwater. Yup
this is a bit of a stretch but metal-benders can do it too because of the metal subs made in The Last Air-bender :P
Korra's character really got developed. It was just amazing to see how she broke down in tears because it really reveals how much hardship she could take which made her character more realistic.
Will we meet Zaheer again? Will we ever find out Mako's laziness towards lightning? Will Korra and Asami finally get together? Find out next time on AVATAR Z!
man i ship korra and asami hard since i know asami will be the one to take care of her.
Next time on Avatar Z..."Zaheer Defeated!!"
Oliver Bunner I see ur point and I know a lot of ppl are saying the same thing but, It will be great to new members from the Red lotus
Book 4 is gonna have to do alot to top this. I'm hoping katara, zuko, and toph come together for book 4 like the white lotus.
Yes!!! Katara zuko toph new white lotus elders...
She wasn't killed. You can't come back after death.
Sirmel11. Everything is possible in the Avatar universe.
aang ran away for 100 years and messed up the world though. korra only messed up for about a year. aang destroyed an entire century
***** also P'lli death was pretty bad too. She basically blew her own head off.
Didn't TLA have like 2 books per season? Or like 20+ episodes or something like that? It's been years since I've seen it, but this show is approaching it's final season and that sucks :/
Zaheer needs to make a return in the 4th season. He was incredible. This season was incredible.
TLA was 3 books in all, it just had more episodes.
777 MangaKing 777 WE NEED MOAR EPISODES!
TLA only had 3 books but unlike The Book of Korra it had chapters, which made it feel longer and it was longer.
Does anyone else think why bolin was able to lava bend was becuase his mother was a firebender and his fatherwas a earthbender?
me
It's a cool idea, but only the avatar can bend more than one element, so i doubt it, i mean lava is just heated rock so i think its classed only as earthbending. if it was because his mum was a firebender it makes the entire avatar thing kinda wrong since other people can bend more than 1 element...
No, creators denied it themselves.
I think book 4 we will be visiting the Fire Nation.
Book 1 Air: Republic City and Air Temple Island (Air).
Book 2 Spirits: Southern Water Tribe (Water).
Book 3 Change: Ba Sing Se and Zao fu (Earth).
Book 4 ???? : Fire Nation City/Lightning based city? (Fire)
Just some thoughts in mind... also the place where Korra was being held captive was very similar to the crlCystal Catacombs. I was expecting Korra to Crystal bend and use it as armour lol. My favorite book besides fire really the only problem I had is that I was hoping we would get a cliff hanger and we would see the Elemental 4 the next book. That is not really a problem when I think of it just a nit pick.
I would be so cool with that. I miss the fire nation and the benders haha.
Likerhater3 Yea we will probably meet Zuko's daughter if my prediction is correct. Fire is my favorite element.
No the crystal catacombs was to reminiscent of TLA, just like where Korra fought Zaheer, looks similar to where Aang fought ozai. Same thing with jinora looking like Aang.
*****
I hope to see a new fire sub ability.
***** true
Not gonna lie i felt for Korra at the end. She has been through a shit load as avatar even more than aang and now she is out of commission that tear at the end though.
RIP P'li man that back story was deep and that death gruesome no lie. Yea i do think bolin and mako got random ass power ups to win but they had to beat ming and gazan. I don't blame them i wouldn't go back to jail either.
Jinora looks so damn weird bald though LOLOL.
Jinora reminds me of Aang with the new bald look. I personally like it and hope she looks like that for Book 4
But Mako didn't get powered up like Bolin. He's already been established at being a decent lightning bender. Unless you count common sense as a power up.
If anyone got a power up it was bolin. Mako could always use lighting
maybe it's my bias against mako because i don't like him. Still i felt he beat ming a little too easy but the location worked for him.
@Minato D Roger I agree it just came down to location. Tbh I was wondering when mako was gonna fry her ass with lighting. It's just such an obvious weakness since Ming is almost always covered with water lol
Wow Jinora IS the spitting image of aang. That scene really got me emotional. Katara should have been there!!!
the most epic I hated Korra when the first start watching The Legend of Korra. BUT NOW I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!!! She a bad ass
yea she grew on me too
I had the manliest of man tears when Jinora got her tatoos
I'm gonna miss Ghazan, he was my favourite villain.
I loved him too. He was so interesting.
Kora now has PTSD and will have to over come that and her physical damage.
To the cosplayers:
I beg of you.PLEASE DON'T COSPLAY cripple Korra on a wheelchair :(
Now I want to see this.
LMAO
LOLOL
I wouldn't mind it if a person already in a wheelchair cosplayed as wheelchair Korra lol
Either she was in the crowd or they merely forgot lol
She was. Did you not see her crying in the background
No I didn't see her henceforth my comment.
AvatarReiko I just re-watched the whole scene. Katara was NOT there.
She's n the South Pole
I kinda don't even want to wait until next year, bring that shit on right now
This might sound crazy, but what if in Book 4, Korra goes to Zaheer for advice?
Do a little time skip 10 years after the end of the first Avatar get to see what Aang went through as an adult.
there are comics that already follow the events after atla. tons of videos on youtube.
Are there really? Wow! Can you name one or send me a link to one?
google and wiki bro. simple lol
thanks lol
Marquise Hall i think they are called the promise and the search
This season finale was better than book one of Last Airbender's Finale, but you people have gone STUPID if you think the WHOLE book was better!! Aang's development was amazing, Korra has improved but...ughhhh
It kinda was though. I mean the development of ALL the characters this season was great! Not to mention the amazing story and breathtaking bending battles! IMO it was even up there with Book 2 of ATLA(but not better, cause that will probably always be the best season of the Avatar franchise!)
It's more even paced and balanced than Book 1 (Water).
*****
What? He clearly developed over the course of the series
*****
Now, before I start - I love, love, LOVE Korra as a character over Aang.
I thought the funniest moment was when Bolin pushed Su out of the way to hug Opal lol. Loved IT!
Didn't Aang technically fly in avatar state against Ozai? Still got to say, Aang's avatar state is still the best!
Kinda sorta. He used the same fire bending technique as Korra. And he was surrounded by that swirling ball of air.
I used to always say Aang's state was way better than Korra's. But in this finale.. wow, Korra went ape sh*t. Before it was pretty lack luster but if she wasn't fighting the poison while battling Zaheer, he's completely dead right now.
Dont Know Yeup. The one thing I like about Korra was that she pulled no punches
He actually floated when he unlocked his chakra at the end of book 2 cause before he had to have a twister lift him up
Mako beat Ming-Hua only because the location favored it
Well tbh, the location favored Ming-Hua too. It was almost completely water
James Michaels That's why he didn't have to aim and she couldn't really dodge the attack. In all other encounters he didn't have this advantage.
Can't wait for the next season plz don't cry Korra :'(
I loved that Zaheer manifested into Amon in Korra's vision cause those are the 2 people that really fucked with Korra's head the most!
Nah dude, next logical step = Korrasami!
Lol In a wheelchair?
Lesbiansm in a kids show? That would be intriguing.
***** that shiz always happen in tom and jerry, kids love it :P
1. Zaheer is just an extremest version of Jean Jaques Rousseau
2. HOLY BALLS! Zaheer got like $300,000+ worth of SOLID platinum to chain up Korra! Jesus Christ man! Where do you find that shit!
How about a platunum bunker wall in Sato's hideout (Book 1)?
Rosseau's contract theory - that's the first thing that occurred to me when Zaheer was introduced, that an Hobbes' version as well :)
CCKonnor Well Asami's dad was basically henry ford (even helping the enemy, Hiroshi helped the Equalists, Ford helped Nazi Germany) he owned the largest "Satomobile" company in the world so he had money.
When korra learns metalbending she will have a hell of a lot of fun having joyrides in her wheel chair
LOL
This comment XD
There is something special about the legend of korra. The atmosphere and characters make this show special. I remember the first time I marathon this series I was mad depressed because my grandfather had passed away and I watched the 1st 2 seasons in one sitting and it made me forget about my dead grandpa at the time. It's so amazing how anime and something like the legend of korra can really help u through dark times. My Fridays won't be complete without this and Jojo's bizarre adventure which is ending soon but I still got Tokyo ESP and fairy tail so I'm straight. And next year we get season 4 of legend of korra and the second half of Jojo's bizarre adventure season 3 so I'm hyped for that
That ending with Jinora made me cry..so much nostalgia
:0. Amazing finale!
This is the best written review I've seen for The Legend of Korra:
Enter the Void/Venom of the Red Lotus is the best finale of Korra, and one of the best pair of episodes in the franchise.
Yeah I thought her legs were broken.
Was going to type dat :p
My favorite moments or people in this whole season have to be: (No particular order)
1.) Korra.
6.) Zuko and Iroh
7.) The Metal clan
8.) Kai. Reminds me of a delinquent version of Aang.
9.) Maybe the whole season
*Book 4 I'm ready for you. 😤
Zaheer rules.
You know it's serious character development when Sawyer says he felt really bad for Korra at the end, Now that right there... is a Change!
I think now would be the best time for Korra to re-establish her connections with her past lives...didn't aang do something similar after he was "broken"
Not likely as this season hints that she lost the connection all together. She can't access them anymore and she's technically the first avatar of this new cycle: meaning she only has Raava.
Muu0934 coudn't she find them in the sprit world and manually reconnect with each one?
Best benders in their respective elements (LOK introduced characters only)
Airbending: Zaheer (with flight), Tenzin, Jinora, Korra, Meelo
Waterbending: Amon, Tarrlok, Ming-Hua, Unalaq, Kya
Earthbending: Ghazan, Bolin, Suyin, Lin, Korra
Firebending: P'Li, General Iroh, Mako, Korra
800mEric
he/she was referring to this series not overall
800mEric
Read: "LOK introduced characters only"
+800mEric
He said legend if korra introduced characters only.
800mEric reading is fundamental
800mEric He said only characters introduced in Legend of Korra, not the Last Airbender -.-
book 3 single handedly make the entire last air bender look like trash despite the ending
zero ah no they consistently dump on katara in this series eg: why the hell wasnt she at her granddaughters anointment? how the hell did zuko supposedly know aang better then katara ? when aang/ katara where together for 52yrs
Hahaha you're funny.
eiji niizuma Well Katara was in the fucking South Pole while Zuko was in a few hundred feet of Korra.
That's the biggest BS I've ever heard in my life
no there are dozens of flaws here.
This finale was beautiful! I was staring at the screen in awe the entire time. Bravo!
I need season 4 to come faster
that final fight was pretty awesome
I really thought that The Red Lotus had something to do with Sokka and Aang's death. I'm really hoping that the fourth book will be in the fire nation.
Great review, as always. Book 3 was amazing.
suspicion: Su is actually a member of the red lotus, but for some personal motive didn't mind joining in on the attack on zaheer's crew. She seemed suspicious in the discussion in the airship (she was talking a lot more than the others), Also, how did she know how to bend that metal poison out of Korra so well? Also, Su's metal city seems like one of those "anarchical" cities with no real rulers. the creators spared Zaheer for book 4 (they specifically mentioned that he was imprisoned, not executed, i think the creators want to make sure to mention that), so maybe Su will play a part in freeing him.
i think the guy who could detect lies was also a red lotus member (what happened to him?)
prediction: Opal will become a spy for Su on the airbenders.
"She's never looked stronger in my eyes."
That was perfectly said.
I Still don't trust sue or the captain that saved korras dad. That music that played when he was thanking her was suspicious
Man, this Season was FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!! Korra herself has been redeemed from Book 2.
So, if the ice was enough to weigh him down how was it that carrying Korra didn't?
The Ice was effecting his flying technique because his foot was frozen
oldtown09 *shrug* it doesn't say directly that his flight is dependent on his feet, but sure, why not.
So Here are my predictions for book 4.
Remaining Red Lotus members will break through and get Zaheer out of Prison somehow.
Non-Bender main antagonist
The Gang will go to the Fire Nation and meet Zuko's daughter
Red Lotus would still be seeking for Global Chaos
Bolin trying to learn making Lava appear from the ground
Korrasami
You're gay.
Sirmel11 Okay :(
Well now book 4 was sooooo different…
Lol you called the last one
Sirmel11 That was my most not serious prediction...
Sad that the build up for it and the entire book 4 was shit
Use metal poison they said. It'll work great they said.
Damn amateurs.
Mako always used lightning, just not often. Remember how he worked in the power plant in Book One? Yeah, he can use it but it's not his default. In his character profile (the official one) it says that lightning is his favorite weapon to use.
Even so, great review man
Much like the last two episodes of A:TLA, I will definitely be revisiting these two episodes over and over. This was awe inspiring.
pretty sure they took it off the tv mainly cause someone was murdered and it got a lot darker. at least thats my opinion.
