In November 2014 'Always Look on the Bright side of Life' became the most requested song at funerals here in the UK, that pretty much explains English humour.
That's about right for us.
That's a die hard joke, isn't it...?
Sadly or funnily or depressing or uplifting we are similar
@@melchiorvonsternberg844 Well, I mean, it's a Monty Python "Life of Brian" joke first and foremost...
@@klaxoncow You didn't get the joke. But it actually only works from an IQ of 110....
80’s/90’s British comedy is the peak of all comedy. It’s when you could take the p!ss out of anything and everyone understood it was a joke.
Me too
Political correctness killed alot of humour
Life of Brian?
The problem is you could make thousands of videos with iconic moments and still barely scratch the surface.
But seeing someone watching them for the first time is an absolute joy.
🙌🙌
It's a little like when you show evil dead to your 15 yr old son. I'm sure they will love it
@@paul39a I first watched that film when I was 6 and I have to say don’t watch films like this when one is a kid! I still get nightmares…. 😢
I'm sure she has seen this many times before and putting up a fake laugh for her video. (Not saying it isn't funny btw, I love it)
@@LADYRAEUKhave you ever seen the inbetweeners it's funny ASF
I'm from Germany and i love the british humor❤
thank you for helping too keep the Germans episode in Faulty Towers the cancel lot tried too ban it
@@johnhorse5551 don't mention the war 😂
For me, when Terry Gilliam knocked over Graham Chapman’s “ashes” was one of the very funniest things I’ve ever seen, I still replay it and laugh my socks off. Incidentally that was just after my own dear dad’s cremation (he’d have laughed too!) 😊😂
John Cleese's eulogy at his funeral was great as well.
And Graham would have loved it because he adored bad taste
Graham would have liked it, and even more if they where his actual ashes.
@@dupersuper1938
When he called Graham Chapman a "freeloading bastard" at his funeral speech
Brilliant!
I met Terry Jones and Michael Palin in Lears, Cardiff and they signed my copy of the Life of Brian script. We had a couple of of minutes chat, they were absolutely brilliant. Terry called me a boring little Tick!! (and wrote it in the book). Five hours later on the train home I realised my face was aching, I had been smiling all afternoon. R.I.P. Terry Jones, you were a diamond.
As an Aussie I grew up watching British comedy. Black Adder Goes Forth, little Britain and Rowan Atkinson are my favourite. 😂
I have to be honest, I do love our British sense of humour; it is just so varied and different to all other nations. It can be subtle, zany, mad, ironic, sarcastic - all of that and yet totally, typically British. We have a range of humour to satisfy all Brits, at the end of the day.
For instance, since finding out that I am autistic at age 60 (now 61), my instinct is to find humour in it. In spite of all the misery it has caused throughout my life, I can now relate to it and make jokes about it. Perhaps that is what we do best - laugh at ourselves!
Being British and after my mum passed, I was in Calgary, Canada and saw a car, with an older man driving. On the side it said “Coffin Dodgers Taxi”. I started laughing and thought my mum would get such a kick out of that. Thought he must British and then noticed the Union Jack on the roof.
Monty Python may all be old and retired, but individually and together, these guys still can give a masterclass on comedy while sweeping their dear friends ashes under a rug.
🙌
@@LADYRAEUK that was what Johnny Depp was on about, a scene from the Monty python team about burning witches, then fxcking the corpse just to make sure they are dead, but even though I have family in America they do not get or understand our humour, but to sit and watch them hysterically laugh at the Simpsons 😳oh please 🙏🏾 plane ✈️ ticket to uk 🇬🇧🏴😂
They do say laughter is the best medicine - whoever " they " are and this little collection didn't disappoint . There are so many different styles of humour and our tv archives are full of great moments . Glad you enjoyed it Amanda .
Thanks David! Have a good weekend
Yeah, But Penicillin is probably a close second.
Unless your diabetic then it would be insulin 😅
I've seen every single clip before and all in context of the full shows they were originally in.....and this still did not disappoint!! Every clip was very funny!!
😊😊🤣
I am British I watched these videos years ago but these still bring tears of laughter thanks for bringing happy memories back
to the manor born
margo says "i didnt see you in church today" the reply a classic "but it is Sunday? a day off to relax"
"Your name will also go on the list! What is it?" "Don't tell him, Pike!" "Pike..."
no soggy chips I want only crispy ones lol
best piece EVERY made
FOUR CANDLES
need i say any more?
Oh how original!.Go on ,mention Del boy now.....
I'm an American-born mimic and British humor lends itself easily to mimics. I knock myself out laughing, but my American friends don't get it. That's even funnier!!
The British are responsible for many amazing scientific discoveries, engineering feats, and innovations that changed the world. It's possible the greatest of them all, is British comedy. It's probably my favorite anyway.
Its probably the only one that anybody makes any money out of too.
The funniest thing of all were the numerous mistakes in the subtitles.
The important thing about British humour is we will poke fun at absolutely everything and everyone, especially ourselves. We leave taking things seriously to other countries. 😁
Yeah, the faultless driver ...
We could till the bellends decided to become the saviours of the belittled, so now, apparently taking the piss out of someone is now classed as bullying them. Bye bye comedy
Unfortunately not anymore more ! Hurty words upset the woke brigade hence the reason we've had floods everywhere ! 😉
All these years later Blackadder still completely rules. You are all kinds of adorable, Amanda!💐🌻🌹
Thank you! 😊
Blackadder (series 2 - 4) remains by far some of the best comedy ever written. Ever!
@@slb2461 Best of them ism Captain Black Adder and his firin' squad...
Yep, British humour is top notch. As it comes to series I love "The Thin Blue Line" and "You Rang, M'Lord?".
Tommy Cooper and another did a skit as 2 canaries in a cage ....it is the first and only time I rolled on the floor with laughter....around 1965
Another series to watch, and maybe get some idea as to where British MP's are coming from, would be Rik Mayall as Alan B'stard in "The New Statesman". Probably modelled on "Blair", but you really could take your pick from any of the others. Keep up the good work, and the laughs.!
Just watching you laugh, sit there with wide eyes & that delightful snort makes it twice the fun. You make viewing so much fun Amanda. 😂😂😂 Best wishes 👍☘️☘️☘️
Haha I’m so glad 😊
The "Amanda snort" should have a "TM" next to it. When she's laughing so much the laughs overlap - and voila: the snort - I can't stop laughing either. Very infectious. And possibly dangerous, like [cue Pythonesque segue] the funniest joke in the world...
ruclips.net/video/U4VjZKPjxnE/видео.html&ab_channel=BobbyS
totally agree love the snort still makes me chuckle
Love it Amanda, check out 'The Two Ronnies' sketch 'Fork Handles'. You'll love it.
Wait I really want to know this do you guys make fun of black people lmaooo. Like here in the US you can straight up be racist to another black guy if youre also black and its taken as a joke
Listening to you snorting while laughing made the video even better for me. So hopefully you aren't ashamed of your snorting it is adorable and loveable.
7:41 - this gives me soooo "Monty Python" vibe. Especially when one of the guys started hiding the "ashes" under the carpet 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
For me, British humor is one of the most cynical ones - and I LOVE IT. 👌👌👍👍👌👌
“Would you stop talking about the war?!”
“You started it”
“No I did not”
“Yes you did, you invaded Poland”
An old favourite of mine is a sci-fi sitcom called Red Dwarf, took a couple seasons to find their footing but they really found their stride & made something special.
Hell, it was popular enough that the Americans tried to make their own version & even went far enough to steal a couple of the original's actors.
Red Dwarf was brilliant. I loved the "Reverse time planet" episode. Poor cat...
*Miriam is hilarious* 😂 *she just says whatever she wants and don't care* 🎉
Amanda Rae is a real breath of fresh air, if she finds something funny her laughter is infectious. Long may she entertain us, and the best part of her videos is that she does not hit the "Pause" button every minute or two, in order to give a commentary. Well done young lady.
It was nice to see a Carry On film in there. The Carry On films are just great, I still watch them to this day
The full Carry On Don't Lose Your Head scene is worth watching, it's very clever
Little Britain really pushed it to the limit. That and Fawlty Towers or Flowery Twats was also a favourite of mine. Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau must rate very highly too.
Sorry to mention it again but the scene from only fools and horses 'triggers broom' 😂so funny😂
The double entendre used in the carry on films are always a laugh.
My favourite stand-up comedian is Al Murray, and his persona 'The Pub Landlord'. How he interrogates a number of his audience, and puts them in his show is absolutely brilliant...and when he goes in historical mode, he's in his element...
I would also watch the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the London Olympics from 2012. The Opening was full of a brief history lesson, whilst the Closing was full of British music, but Eric Idle did a rendition of 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life', which was absolutely bonkers.
I grew up with this sense of humour and I love it. And I don't want to spoil the mood, but we have too many people wanting to be upset by anything and everything? Comedy at the moment is depending on the one's who don't give a fxck and being cancelled is a challenge. Looking Gorgeous Amanda.x Cheer's 🇬🇧
Don't know what generation you are but I remember having a good laugh at Alf Garnet
The Goodies, The Two Ronnie’s, Dave Allan.
We grew up with these in Australia. Hehe
British Humour is the best in the world as anything goes!, so many great comedians and comic actors come from this Country and you can still laugh at it years later.
Try watching The League of Gentlemen, Psychoville, Inside No 9, The Young Ones, Bottom, The New Statesman, Filthy Rich and Catflap all of which are superb.
Amanda. I so enjoyed you enjoying British humour so much. Tears still running down. We’re all daft but happy. JJ👍💕
Amanda, you have no idea! The British have no levels. Taking the micky out of ourselves can be as funny, as taking it out of others. It's what makes us tick! :)
You make my day girl! Just so funny watching you - brilliant!
Thank you Dave! Have a great weekend!
It is always so fun see your reactions to the videos you have chosen to watch. And that fawolty towers scen about the german couple. It´s classic. The same goes for the brittish comedy serie Dad´s army. There are some really good scene´s there too. But I must agree that watching your reacion to some comic scene´s are a show of it´s own sometime Amanda. Keep on doing what your doing, it´s such a joy watching and listening to you.
Thanks so much 😊
Love money python and faulty towers, but definitely check out some of the earlier carry on films
As a kid of the 70s, I enjoyed Monty Python reruns and absolutely loved Spike Milligan's Q series on BBC2.
😊👍🏻
What are we going to do now! What are we going to go now!
I was raised on black adder and red dwarf but monty python and the holy grail is still one of my top 10 films
@@rickb.4168 Put 'im in the curry!
Greetings from Orange County, California. First run for about 10 years in the 70s, in reruns in the 80s I used to like to watch Are You Being Served. And while I get really also liked Rowan Atkins, Mr. Bean didn't do all that much for me.
But yeah, more contemporary, I love Ricky Gervais.
I Love the way you laugh Amanda you make me laugh great video !!!
You must watch more of Miriam... an absolute legend!
Something to add to this list is Yes Minister or Yes Prime Minister. It is practically a documentary of how the British government really operates, and it is hilarious.
Anything with the late Rik Mayall. Together with Ade Edmonson, you’ll always get a good laugh
😂 when he kicked the urn over..😂😂 Hav't laughed so much since my grandad fell down a mineshaft 😂😮
Made me laugh😂 😂😂
You might enjoy some of the "Carry on " films.
Nothing funnier than Rik Mayall as Lord Flasheart, thanks for posting thing it made my day.
Sometimes when things are at their worst, you just have to have a bit of a laugh. Life is absurd and deserves to be laughed at.
Amen.
The best were Les Dawson, The Two Ronnies, Dave Allen, they were great with the play on words, just perfection. 😅😂
hilarious, thank you, love the channel, congrats on hitting 90k subs
Only fools and horses.....Del Boy falling through the bar, laugh every time !!
😂👍🏻
Though that scene is very good, I prefer the episode The Yellow Peril of the 1980s... It is my most favourite episode of OFAH in the 1980s..... :-)
Someone has probably already mentioned this but one of my favourite of all time sketches is "The Four Yorkshire Men Sketch" It first was on "At Last the 1948 Show" Then was one of the many brilliant sketches on the Monty Python TV series, there have been a number of versions, but it's one-upmanship taken to the extreme of extreme levels!
"You lived in a dustbin? You were lucky. We lived in the bottom of a septic tank." 😁
@@SpeccyMan "Luxury"
I still love Onslow from Keeping Up.
The old comedy shows are the best. Years on and it's still funny. Classics
VOIDRAKER SAYS YES TO THIS CHANNEL.❤
You should watch the Carry On films lol the french revolutions clips was a carry on film
You need to check out "Allo Allo". British people making fun of WW2 way before the rest of the world was even sort of ready. If you don't have the time to go through the whole series, at least check out officer Crabtree.
That scene from Fawlty Towers is one of the funniest moments in any comedy. Right up there with Del Boy falling through the bar.
🙌🙌
My dad and brother where driving from stoke to Cornwall and stopped in a cafe for a break . Some Germans where at the table next to them . When my dad finishes his food he stood up loudly announces it was time to leave said but where did I park my car while he rubbed his upper lip then shouted ow I think it's over there stamped his foot and did the nazi salute like he was pointing to the car . He hates the Germans for killing his parents in the blitz
Enjoyed watching this nearly as much as u did have a good weekend
Try and get hold of The Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin with the astonishing Leonard Rossiter. Not forgettting Rising Damp.
I've got to re-watch carry on don't lose your head now. All great films
I love the way this funny young lady explains why she loves British humour yet there are Brits explaining to her all about British humour!
Apparently inscribed on Spike Milligans headstone are the words” I told you I was ill🤣🤣x
But it’s in Latin because they wouldn’t let them write it in English 😂
@@Goddzi If you do you research, instead of relying on hearsay, I think you'll find that it's in Gaelic.
Have you seen any of Some Mothers Do Av'em? Frank on roller skates is a classic.
Miriam Margoyles was Professor Sprout in Harry Potter, in case you were wondering.
😅😅😅 i love how you're American and have learned to understand the brilliance of British humour 😄👍 Awesome reactions!
My favorites are Rowan Atkinson - Welcome to Hell, Monty Python - Dead Parrot Sketch, A Bit of Fry & Laurie - Marjorie Falls and Understanding Barman, Whose Line is it Anyway - nothing specific but I remember an episode with Stephen Frost, Tony Slattery, Ryan Stiles, and Colin Mochrie.
I really enjoyed reaction to our British humour 👍 Subscribed
Dave allen on DOCTORS AND SMOKERS VERY FUNNY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
You need to watch French German occupied wartime comedy Allo Allo. It's hilarious.
Amanda you have to watch red dwarf, the toasty the talking toaster scene. That's a classic!!!
Infamy, infamy, They've all got in for me!!!! Julius Caesar (Kenneth Williams in Carry on Cleo).
Check out a very little known 1970s comedy called I Didn't Know You Cared.
love it that was the main cast of monty python they still got it when that was filmed but fawlty towers the walk you cant beat that
amanda you ever seen a carry on film if not way not
I subscribed, because you find UK humor, well, humorous.
One of the funniest things I've seen is the actual funeral address that John Cleese gave at Graham Chapman's funeral. It's on youtube.
“…I’d like to be the first person to say [****] at British memorial service…” 😂
The thing wIth us Brits is we'll take the piss out of any country or continent...but usually after we've absolutely ripped the piss out of ourselves first...
Fair 👍🏻👍🏻
There are some great scenes in Yes Minster/ Yes Prime Minister, and very British!
The best satirical comedy ever.
Maggie Thatcher once said it was very realistic. She was such a huge fan she even tried writing her own episode.
ruclips.net/video/cwaX_DgHZkM/видео.html
The best one being how Hacker got elected as party leader - standing up to the "evil European Bureaucrats" decision to re - name British sausages "emulsified offal tubes" unless they contained the EU quota of meat instead, because "we British love our sausages".
The two Ronnie's " four candles"
Julie Walters. "Two Soups" in my mind two classics.
Needs more Blackadder and some Red Dwarf
First video that's come up for me in ages, even though I'm subscribed (and hit the bell). It came up as a recommendation because of other channels I'm subbed too 🤔 that doesn't seem right
Iconic moments to many to mention mainly Faulty Towers but Only fools and horses' uncle albert is the funniest one of the lot RIP Buster
The whole of the "Jolly Boys outing" should not be missed. There are just so many sub plots going on, including del boy fitting a dodgy radio to the bus which then blows up. The spooky guest house etc etc. "to Hull and Back" is another absolute classic, but the day they become millionaires is the ultimate in british humour.
Nice one Amanda. Got the Amanda snort so life is good 👍 😊
😊🙌
Try only fools and horses!!
THE CHANDALIER!!
Best of luck and thanks for the laugh's
Hi Amanda, I recommend that you should watch The Goodies. It's an old series, but very funny. The first time I saw it I was in hospital after getting my appendix out. I was laughing so much I nearly burst my stitches, and I had to turn off the TV. Among my favorite episodes were Kitten Kong, and Bun Fight At The O K Tearoom.
More Little Britain reactions would be good in the future, that show was hilarious. The Office was brilliant too, if not very cringeworthy, David Brent's dance was definitely an iconic comedy moment for me!😄
or Come Fly With Me.
I’ll check it out!
I was crying with laughter, right off to the outhouse to recover!
i was told about the war time. damaged shops had open as usual signs but one shop had more open than usual, still trading despite being a heap of rubble
Always love your sense of humour and you seem to love the banter of course your lovely too,you are definitely British now, monty pythons flying circus is worth a look and ripping yarns, not the nine of clock news, hale and pace, alas Smith and jones (head to head is a good part)have a fantastic weekend amanda!
Little Britain was another super show.
One of the most underrated British comedians is alexie sayle, very intelligent and funny
My favourite person, watching some of my other favourite people! It's like watching my faves with a best friend (who snorts) & finding it funny all over again! Love the python interview
a scene from fawlty towers "basil the rat"
rat gets loose manuel freaking out
says to polly "no not mr Fawlty basil the rat" polly breaks in rattertooe
, we call the rattertooe basil because the chef put so much in
manuel says "he put basil in the ratertooe?
the look on pollys face............priceless
12 eps of fawlty towers all can be quoted by anyone over 40
I love the snort @5:24. Brilliant.
Little britain was my life growing up. I loved it so much! 😂
