For any Americans trying to match pint for pint with friends in a British pub, not only is our beer stronger, but our pints are 25% larger. An American pint is 16 fluid ounces - that's 1 pound weight. Our pints are 20 fluid ounces. Eight pints, or 1 gallon, is 160 ounces, or 10 pounds weight. Who said our old Imperial system wasn't decimal?

Yes that’s usually very true but some folks in America have mastered the fine art of brewing Moonshine, AKA “White Lightning” and some of those “custom” brews can be very potent and sometimes borderline dangerous to drink due its concentrated alcohol content. Some of my favorites are the Fine Scotch Whiskies which are just spectacular. Pretty funny content! Keep ‘em coming Ms Amanda

The fluid ounces are slightly different too, but yes the Imperial pint is still larger than the US pint.

MANY years ago I went to the states for work, for about 6 weeks. About 3 weeks in, one of the guys on the project had a BBQ on a Saturday for everyone... plus a few of his buddies... one of whom was a "power drinker"... he could out drink everyone I was warned, and he'd see it as a personal challenge to "outdrink the limey". Thanks for the heads up.
I'd just come off a rugby season. Sure enough, matey decides after a few sherberts to challenge me to down a pint. A proper pint or a US one I wanted to know. I then upped the ante... $20 says I can sink a UK pint quicker than you can do a US one. Challenge accepted.
Now I should point out that at that stage in my rugby career I could do a pint in under 5 seconds... open my throat and pour it down. Which is precisely what I proceeded to do. Apparently he wasn't ready so he wanted a rerun... double or quits as well... no problem... instant replay. Same result.
He wanted best 2 of 3. His buddy pointed out I'd already done him twice, therefore it was 3 of 5. That one ended badly... for him. He got halfway down and puked.
How could I drink like that my colleagues wanted to know... practice I replied, many MANY years of practice in a culture of binge and heavy drinking.

Belgian here, I pretty much drink alcohol only once a year at family gathering (all love drink, food and life kinda people), usually do 6-8 Duvels, go to bed, have a space brained morning after and then go on with my day.
When I first had American colleagues over, I saw one of them start downing Duvels like American beer and promptly went to prep the toilet for the upcoming storm.
One of the reasons Americans think they can drink is because other than modern "craft beers", all their commercial beers are piss that passes for beer with about as much alcohol content as the worst light beer in Europe.
Meanwhile, Duvel is 8.5% alcohol and a really damn smooth drink.
Aside from there being much more alcohol in it to begin with, it being more concentrated means your body gets that higher quantity of alcohol inside it at the same speed it would normally take an American to down 2-3 beers.
And having been in the US, when I actually still regularly had a drink, I had a feeling their strong drinks, Whiskey, Gin and the like, is also much lower alcohol content than the versions sold here in Europe. They sure take it with more ice, but just from drinking it, it just didn't taste like there was as much alcohol in there than I was used to.

The weird thing about the British tolerance for alcohol is that most aren't regular drinkers like the French or Italians who usually drink with every meal. We usually binge drink, personally I used to drink once every 2 weeks on a night out. Back when a pint cost £2 I'd still go through £100 on a night out and be able to walk home. I might be sick because of it but that's part of the fun. If we aren't projectile vomiting on a night out, we didn't do it properly. What an odd country we are 🤣

And we took them out on the town in Chester and then onto Birkenhead.. One of the two challenged us to a drinking contest.. We outdrank them by far .. They were mashed 3 quarters of the way through evening and we were only just getting started.. They passed out and we has to carry them to the taxi and then back to the digs.
We carried on drinking into the early hours and when we woke after only a few. Hours sleep we were right as rain... The Germans had a hangover that lasted a couple of days... So don't ever challenge the brits to a drinking contest because drinking is what we do best.. Lol

Amanda if you want to drink a real British drink then you have to try some home brew scrumpy cider but be warned make sure your sitting down before you finish the first pint. Or you'll fall down. After the third you won't t remember the hang over the following week let alone the following day

For a laugh could you do a reaction video to the "Wurzals" with their song "I got a brand new Combine Harvester" or their other famous song.."I am a cider drinker " these were famous comedy songs in the 70s and 80s
