    Nice analysis. I want to add few points,
    1. The pulling power. The low end torque of diesel is good and can be seen while driving with above moderate load, potholed roads, muddy roads, hill station. This in turn leads to relaxed driving in diesel. This can be achieved in petrol cars but with frequent rev-ups.
    2. With DPF filter, the diesel is close to petrol in tail pipe emission.

    All ur videos excellent.
    But this calculation video is wrong, I'll not accept. You have not noticed a small correction, but it is the biggest correction which change the results of your video, let me explain.
    1. For 25 km you have mentioned a approximate maintenance charges for (Pet)20000 & (Die)30000. But when you increased running km upto 4 times from 25 to 100km, then why you didn't increased maintenance charges 4 times, so 20000 & 30000 will become 80000 & 120000 for 5 yrs 400000 for petrol & 750000 for diesel, now calculate petrol vehicle is profit, you have calculated with only the fuel cost.
    2. Example: Service should be done in every 5000 kms, so as per you said 5000km/ 25km per day= 200days. For 5000km/100km per day= 50 days. So this example shows if we drive 25km/day 1 service done in 200 days. but if we drive 100km/day 4 service done in 200 days so cost is 4 times + depreciation.
    3. when a vehicle running km is increasing, automatically diesel car repair & service charge will be more compared to petrol vehicle, I mean the depreciation of the vehicle
    Within 3 to 5 yrs most common high expensive repair in diesel vehicle is diesel pump problem 15000 to 25000 (I changed two times in my new Xylo car in 2nd & 3rd yr).
    Next Fuel injector problem minimum one fuel injector price starts from 12500, (for my 4 year skoda car I changed 3 injector in showroom, for 1 injector it cost 23000 in showroom, in pudhupet it cost 13000 no warranty), When you compare all these expenses petrol car is the best one.
    4. Even after 3 months if you start a petrol car it will start easily. But diesel car atleast we should drive 2 km everyday or else we should start facing problem.
    Sir why you didn't mentioned all these problems, don't explain only the fuel cost between two vehicles but also explain the problems & difficulties of diesel vehicle, bcaz most of the new vehicle buyers don't have these knowledge's, I hope these information will help some people to get more detailed knowledge about diesel vehicle.
    Any new vehicle first 3 yrs is excellent, if your handling, driving & maintenance is not good if it's petrol or diesel start to pay from the 1 yr itself(^_^). Guys if you accept plz give me a like.
    Once again I'm wishing you sir, you are doing an excellent job, I'm also one of your big fan. Your video are excellent & easy to understand, I just found a correction I just noticed it in the comments box that's it. Keep going, congrats...

    • @nithinkumar2485
      @nithinkumar2485 3 года назад +3

      No Bro,You gave misunderstood that one.Petrol can catch fire easily but that doesn't mean it gives more power and instant pickup.High displacement petrol engines are powerful,i am talking about under 20 lakhs cars.Torque is very key to the instant pickup.I can tell you by one example.Ford Figo petrol engine has 1.2 L engine which has 120Nm of torque kicks in 4250rpm.Diesel engine has 215Nm of torque which kicks in as low 1750rpm.See the torque difference btwn petrol and diesel cars becoz all diesel engine has turbo charger.Some petrol engine has turbo charger now.
      Yes petrol can rev faster but torque of Diesel can give instant pickup than NA petrol engine.I hope you clear now👍

  • @AbhilashRamachandran
    @AbhilashRamachandran 3 года назад +18

    Bro, Everything you said is correct in terms of paper, But in real time it differs a little bit.
    I will explain Why. It depends on the model which you are chosing (You forgot to mention). In case of Innova, petrol mileage in city is 7kmpl and diesel is 11. petrol mileage in highway is 11 kmpl and diesel is 14 kmpl.
    Am using VW ameo TDI. One of the high maintenance car in India. My car mileage in city is 18 minimum even though I drive in neck to neck city traffic or rash drive. In high way I got upto 25kmpl.
    One of my frnd has swift dezire, I drove that too. diesel only. In highway it gave 24 kmpl. But petrol gave 12 kmpl. for the same 120KMPH.
    It depends on driving, brake apply, constant acceleration. whenever you need to slow. decelerate slowly. to reach that slow speed this will give more mileage in diesel. but petrol doesn't gave this even we drive properly.
    In highway if I drive faster like 150 to 180 kmpl in VW, then mileage will be around 18. what if petrol. it will be less than 10. one of my frnd got 7 to 8.
    As you said, In initial diesel won't give much problem. Yes you're correct. but Diesel is for long run. It has lots of moving parts so maintenance is high compared to petrol. So the vibration occurs. (Which you missed to mention).
    As you said earlier it is not easy to suggest a vehicle based on usage. In India, diesel rate can't go higher becoz all the commercial and basic need good are transported by using diesel vehicles. Govt also providing subsidy for that in rate.
    Diesel is always better than petrol. all older diesel vehicles are still running without a problem if we maintain properly.
    You need to take a catch for petrol and diesel price hike percentage for over the period of 5 years to calculate that.
    Even petrol also sound a lot now a days due to that 3 cyl engine. did you notice this. which is greater than diesel AFAIK
    diesel car weight will be higher than petrol car (you forgot to mention). Higher weight will also matter in slow pickup and if there is any impact. diesel car weight also considered as a factor.
    Some diesel car has turbo charger too. which provides better pickup. Even my vw ameo go 0-100 in 9.6 seconds.
    in 2nd gear, 20 to 80 in 3.5 to 4 seconds (Not accurate).
    Doesn't mean petrol car is peppy. based on the engine it defines.
    High torque also matters.
    You can compare Audi Q5 with VW GTI both has same power but different in segment. different in price.
    Am not saying diesel is best.
    You have more subscribers, pl give a better idea in next video. Expecting your answers.

Diesel engines are more fun to drive especially the pulling initial power produced by diesel engine is not produced by petrol engines.....there are many keen drivers who loves diesel engines more than petrol engines.... Pollution is not at all a factor to reject diesel cars...... If you need a powerful roaring engine then go for diesel, if you need a bigger size of scooty then go for petrol engines

    Diesel has better acceleration my friend.. my aspire reaches 0 to 100 in 9.7 secs.. and diesel engines usually last longer since the combustion chamber is strongly built to withstand burning of highly compressed fuel. And diesels have high low end torque so driving is a breeze , you don't have to rev much.

    நன்றி நண்பரே.
    இரண்டு விசயம்: In any same segment, Diesel car's torque is higher than Petrol's, so Diesel car's pickup is way quicker than Petrol due to higher torque.
    Another thing is I have seen in some articles where they have mentioned about "Breakeven point" for Petrol-Diesel debate. Kindly let me know if at all this term "Breakeven" point is relevant in Petrol-Diesel debate. Thanks again!

    What about torque Bro? Isn’t it not important? Further, the present day diesel cars are technologically much superior emitting less CO2 and is also much more silent now. I own a Hyundai Creta BS6 Diesel version.
    Otherwise your analysis is spot on.👏

    Hi birla very super explanation watched all your videos. Really fantastic. Can u give tips for long drive like including how many stoppings is been recommended for say 700 kms in both scenario day time and night time. Technical reason if any behind to the stoppings which we hold on whole kms mentioned above.

    • @birlasparvai
      @birlasparvai  3 года назад +5

      Bro, car does not required brake even for 700KM. The present decade cars are well equip to run for longer duration without any issue. Need to think about human fatigue, it is better to have a brake every 200KMs and have a cup of tea then continue.

    thanks sir, as usual nice detailed video. I have an 8 year old Swift VDI 75,000 KMs done, mostly driving to hometown only(Chennai to Thiruvarur) Inside City very less driving. I never had to worry about the mileage(28 to 30 KMs Per litter.).
    Now the kids are grown and I need an upgrade, I like all these cars(Nexon, Creta, City, Verna, ) base model only, and I want to buy the Diesel option.
    in 2022 is it advisable to buy again a Diesel car? plan is to use it for another 8 to 10 years. and same highway driving mostly and limited inside the city roads. Please advice.

    • @valiantvimal
      @valiantvimal Год назад +2

      Brother, I think Petrol is the option here also, because on highways Petrol car also gives higher mileage, so that will balance out. But if you consider torque and quick pickup on highways Diesel car of same variant will greatly help with quick and sharp overtakes than Petrol cars on highways due to high torque. This is what I personally experienced
      Happy driving..Cheers 😊

Every 2 or 3 months once I take a long drive for around 500 to 1000 kms in a single trip. So which car will suit me for this purpose. Petrol or Diesel. I feel I spend too much on Car. I own an VW Vento Diesel 2011 model..

    Naturally Aspirated Low capacity petrol engines are very weak compared to diesel engines. To match the performance of diesel engine turbo petrol engine are only way, but they costs more than diesel engine cars.

    Diesel performance is better because of fuel nature and reliability of the engine is also better than petrol engines and wear and tear will be more in petrol engine when it is used for longer distance. Only flip side of diesel engines is its initial cost
