  • Our old dryer finally give up on us. It had served us for nearly 25 years. It was even older than our oldest kid. I knew where the issue was with the old machine, but I'd decided to replace it as fixing it might cost as much as buying a new one.
    So I'd decided to get the "Westinghouse 4.5kg Reverse Vented Tumble Dryer". It's 1kg more capacity that the old machine, but it's nearly one-half of the size of the old machine. Luckily, it fit nicely on top of our washing machine.

    What was the issue with old dryer?
    These are pretty reliable and usually last longer than electronic models.
    You should get 10+ of light to medium use. Ours is 14 years and has slowly been showing signs of age. Timer works when it chooses and sometimes the drum struggles with first start up.
    But still works.
    I upgraded to a cheap heat pump dryer to save energy when drying wet loads.

      The issue with the old dryer was struggling to start, we had to stimulate the rotation and quickly pressed the start button. Only 50% of time it would work. I believe it was the belt issue, but I didn't bother to replace / fix it. We used the old dryer for over 20 years, and it was given by a friend and we don't know how long she had it before she gave it to us. I would say ~23 years (approximately).

      @@humblediy mid 1990’s probably.
      The capacitor is likely the cause. Our old dryer is doing it to, but not a bad yet.
      Part is really cheap I believe.

    where is all the water after drying? i couldnot find the water container?

    • @humblediy
      @humblediy  17 дней назад +1

      Yeah, this one does not come with a water container disposal. Water are being evaporated, therefore a good ventilation is highly recommended to prevent moisture on walls and ceilings.

    To have inside did you have to vent a whole system with ducting?

    • @humblediy
      @humblediy  3 месяца назад +2

      Nope, I did not vent the whole system with ducting. I have an exhaust fan on the ceiling in our laundry room in order to suck the moisture out when the dryer is on.

      I'd tried a queen-size sheet and guilt cover in the dryer at the same time. It was good.
