This happened so fast. I was simply presented with a sale I couldn’t turn down. Although the M240i is gone, this does leave me with more options for new cars in 2021.
@@itsjoel Yes, you are right - it is the same here in Austria. But there are reasons why the prices of these cars go up. I was able to drive a CSL M3 for some days. The cars might not be as quick as your M240i (not even close with a remap). But they feel so special, so lovely. And furthermore, just look at a clean one - it is perfectly shaped.
Long story short bought a car he could barely afford thought he could get content out of it which would minimise the cost, new restrictions happen realises he’s made a mistake and has now sold.
I’m sure there are many people in the same situation d/t the global pandemic, so bit of a shitty comment really. Obviously you’re one of the lucky ones that has been able to carry on working.
Good luck joel, we've got your back. Go and chase your dreams and big plans and put your money where you heart is. Happy New year mate and good luck with the business 😃
I'm in my early 50s. When I was your age I bought newish BMWs for a ton of money. Then one day I bought a cheap one as a second car and learned to work on it, it was more fun than the dear one! Never looked back. The enjoyment you get out of a car is not connected to the value. I have a £250 '99 RAV4 3 door (lots of snow here), love the thing. Can't wait for winter every year to put it back on the road. Then my Z4 and E30 come out in summer. Have fun, do crazy things!
2020 has been an exceptionally difficult year for us all. Pandemic uncertainly, health worries, family concerns, employment woes, the global downturn, we have all been hit; Some harder than others. I think most of us can still be grateful to have our health and our families with us. Many members here will be car enthusiasts, so will all be saddened to learn your selling your second car, it was leading to some fun and entertaining content. But this is a decision you have had to make for your own personal and financial benefit, so good luck in the future Joel, I'll still be watching in the future. And here is too 2021 been a better year for us all.
This definitely seems like it's the best decision for you right now, I have no doubt even better things will come on this channel next year. Looking forward to what's to come!!!
You definitely made the right call mate, I can empathise with the anxiety of 2020, never truly suffered it like I have this year and it can be all consuming. Even over things that, as you say, feel like 1st world problems. There's no point in a car ownership experience bringing you anxt as well as fun, you'll be able to find a car that you love for a fraction of the price, gives you more headroom for mods and leaves you feeling more financially secure no matter what comes next. Good stuff on being totally open mate, I hope you feel a weight off your shoulders and I hope you're now enjoying the all-consuming excitement of Autotrader hunting again!
Good honest video Joel, no matter what car you get it will always be great content. Certainly one of the top car channels I will always stay subscribed. Will look forward to future content. You even had a rainbow at about 11.50
Like others have said, your passion for the Z4 seems much more intense. I subscribed to your channel for that reason and because I was hankering after a Z4 weekend car. I ended up with a 986 but still enjoyed watching your Z4 content. The m240 was a pretty much sorted car anyway - beyond normal everyday sensible use. Good luck for 2021
That might be a good decision for you and the channel. When I was looking for weekend 2 seater roadster the choice was quickly narrowed down to Z4, TT, Miata and Boxster. I think you’ll find that captures a much wider audience - people faced with the same choice. Even your friend Ben found himself in that situation and thoroughly enjoying his Porsche ownership. Having both cars, to compare and provide insight, would help a lot of people and surely attract more subscribers. I’m pretty sure I saw you eyeing a Boxster passing you in your last video?? 👍💪.
All good Joel! We know that this can happen in the car world and simply adds to the opportunity and excitement to come. Onwards and upwards bro. We're with you 👊🏾
The interesting thing about your channel was how much fun you had in a sub 5k car. It's achievable for most people to do what you did mod up an old car, have a lot of fun without the anxiety of tieing up 30 or 40k finance or not. I find a lot of the other car youtubers with a new super car every week dull as hell. Nice honest video
Agree with it. Its better 2 See some cars that are affordable. Yeah the m240 is also but only for a few people. I think the better content is some affordable street cars with some dope mods done 2 it.
Roll on the spring/summer and get that Z4 back out 👏 I've had mine for 9 months now and 'absolutely' love it.. Good to see you Joel.. hope all's well 👍
I’ve been watching through all your m240i videos and I must say your honesty is admirable. I can tell it’s always been on your mind but hopefully you had no regrets. I’m in my mid 20’s and considering getting this as my dream car, might have to rethink whether I would truly enjoy it! No need to apologise for getting rid of it. We watch your videos for you!
Hi mate. Don't feel bad, you do what you gotta do. I will continue to subscribe and watch your videos regardless of what car you have, as I'm sure many of your viewers will, it was the Z4 that got us all here originally for the most part and you can still bring content of that. I think you should consider a 987 Boxster or Cayman, mega value for money, and good for youtube. Take it easy pal.
I know exactly how you feel, mate! I felt the same way two times when I had to sell my previous two cars. Yes, it's only a car, but a person has memories with the car... It's part of the person's life. It's like when you have a dog, it becomes part of the family.. Now I have e85 2.2i, and I don't want to think how I am going to feel if I have to sell it. You know what - time cures! If you look it from the other side, maybe there will be something more special coming up. As you said M6 or M2 :) I wish you a fantastic New Year!
Ever since your first video with it, I felt you weren't truly happy with the car. As if emotionally it didn't click. In the first video you mentioned that you probably wouldn't keep it for long. To me that was a sign. Obviously with you loosing your job, such an expensive car is a commitment. Sometimes an opportunity is to good not to take. Best of luck with what's ahead!
100%: think we all knew straight away that my heart wasn’t in this car. I was able to let it go pretty easily with a “business head” screwed on and a good offer. Car will be missed for all its comfort, looks and effortless power. But with the money, there’s 101 other cars I can think of to have instead. Cheers for watching mate
Mate you have had some great memories from this car in the last 3 months but keep up the good content and we will look forward to seeing the Z4 more often. Have you thought of getting a cheap project car maybe like a Z3? I really like them and Im hoping to get one in 2021 as a little project for my self.
Fair play for making a tough decision like this! Hopefully this will be for the better for you and the channel. Maybe you could make some more videos on the progress with the z4! Look forward to future content. You have come along way since your early videos! keep your chin up mate 👍
Such a nice car!! Going to miss it... And I was looking forward to driving it 😉 I'm sure it was the right move for the time. Looking forward to seeing what's next 🤙
Hi Joel I know it’s been a while since I commented on your channel I would just like to say I am now the proud owner of bmw 140i Goes like stink and reminds me of all your features Hope Chanel doing well Rich
Nevermind Joel, it’s been a good 3 months and been very interesting and insightful to see other peoples perspectives such as yourself on the M240i’s, I’ll let you have a go of mine if you end up getting withdrawal symptons ahaha. Anyway buddy, heres to 2021, stay safe and continue with the great content man :)
I feel your stress Joel, cars can hold a special place in our hearts. At least you can only go up from here! I'm hoping you try out an E93 M3! :) not a lot of convertible enthusiasts around! :D
Onwards and upwards chappy - 3 months but lots of experiences and education along the way. Have enjoyed watching what you got up to. There are no backward steps - only learning experiences Keep up the great work 🥸
It's the end of an era but definitely gives you more options for cars in the new year. You don't realise it, but you have been hooked on buying cars, running them for a few months and then on to the next. Do it now before you get married as once you've been nabbed, kiss goodbye to doing car stuff all the time! Good luck! All the best from just up the road.
Exactly what I’ve done with my 2019 M5 when second lockdown was announced - not worth the stress to watch the car do nothing on the drive. They’ll be more cars Joel - at least (like me) you have the Z4 which is a great bit of fun!
Sounds like a good decision. We probably also don’t appreciate the full extent of the hassle you’ve had to generate content during lockdown. Good to experience the pain of letting go and rebuilding early in life. You’ll do well with your next projects.
It speaks volumes in your favour, Joel, that you are so upset to say goodbye to this car. You are a true car lover and have a big heart. Certainly didn't see this coming but exactly as you say it's only a car, and there will be others, which we look forward to so much. Wishing you well!!
Been something of shock but, hey, this is RUclips and this is Joel! We've watched you mature as a content producer without losing the earnest freshness that from the get-go characterised & distinguished your channel...and I'm not going anywhere...any time soon. So here's to the next chapter on the rollercoaster...it is afterall Christmas! Best regards.
The honesty comes through and it actually makes a change from the usual RUclips financed up to the max new car content. You've still got a z4 on the drive 👍🏻
It's Joel - Thx Joel - you are first YT’er I found online after I got my ‘04 Z4 in June ‘19 and I’ve loved all content and look forward to what you do in 2021, Cheers 🍺
Ah, Dude, I’m sorry. I know this must’ve been a really tough decision. 😞 Bigger and better things are to come in 2021 though and we’re all with you. 👍🏼 🙂 💪🏼 ❤️
Hi mate sorry to hear the news but good to hear some honesty from you I still aim to get a 235 in the near future and will still tune into you in the future
Sucks that the car has to go, but this stuff happens. Don’t worry too much, you’ll find something else next year. And since it’s going to a viewer, you might be able to revisit it some time
We've all been there Joel. Even though rationally it's the best option, it still hurts selling it. There's always that connection with that specific car you've had owned. Even though my previous car wasn't that special to some others, to me it was and somedays I still miss it. Don't worry about your content, still subscribed anyway 😄
A stopgap of an e90 3 series could well be a decent idea, could make a fair amount of content on that too that people would be interested in! Failing that, you get bomb around in your Z4 which isn’t a bad thing :)
No need to justify the sale mate, sh*t happens! Enjoying the content nonetheless. Best of luck with the business/channel. Hopefully a more eventful 2021!
@@itsjoel if you ever get lethargic and want another ride in one, you've got an invite from me in North Wales to come and explore Snowdon! (Post Covid)
Thanks Adam, all gone through easily the car is now with its new owner. Will not be long before there’s some silly hunk of junk sitting on my driveway I’m sure
Hi, what a beautiful car. The interior looks great, I would love to have one myself in manual. Imagine if they produce newer ones with a slightly smaller, thicker more sporty steering wheel, that is indented from the bottom. Nice little compact sports car. He looks really good in it, congratulations.
i was thinking about buying a m240i..... but what puts me off is that most for sale have had 2,3 or even 4 owners..... if they are so good, why does everyone sell them after a few months ownership
Sometimes a setback leads to other opportunities. I suggest that until things get sorted out you may try renting or having a dealership allow you to test drive and comment on cars they have on a lot. For example, rent a 'hatchback' drive it and compare it to your Zed or M240i. Or, see if you can persuade a dealership to test drive a car using your 15.5k subscribers as a marketing tool to bring buyers to their establishment. This will provide content for your RUclips Page and tide you over until your next purchase. Hell, for us foreigners, give us a tour of London via public transportation and your Zed to see which one would get you to Parliament faster from home. You got this!
I kind of feel for you, i watched your first video on buying the car and the joy excitement meant i was keen to know more about the car, costs spec etc. I bought a 2016 M240i and on PCP finance its awesome, i left an Astra H 1.6 for this B58 beast. Money is tight but im 48 years so insurance is 1/6th of yours. The Tax is cheaper than my old 1.6 Vauxhall. All i can say is thankyou for persuading me to spend £314 / month. I enjoyed your mature nature / comments towards the car. Maybe i'll do a video of my car in the future, i also plan on buying mine outright in 4 years assuming cost have not spiralled out of control. Stephen.
At first ive 2 say i completely agree with selling the car, the costs per month and the value u can sell it in years is hilarous. So go on, live ur live like u want to do. Second Thing is that i found your channel with the beginning of the 760 xD I love the way u produce ur content. At least the german autobahn is quiete fun but you have to be so focussed cause there is a lot of traffic which means the only Real time where u can get ur 250+km/h is at night when there no trucks and old people cause they crosses the lanes at 100kmh... Looking forward to the z4 sleeping Video Greetings from bavaria germany✌✌
could you make a video about getting insured on the modified car? Did you adjust the policy over time.... or get insured on the car modded before you fitted them?
I'm sorry to hear this Joel. It sounds like you wanted this to be your perfect daily driver but it was unable to deliver. Hopefully you'll find something better soon 👍
You did the right decision. The best way to collect experience with a car is to buy it :-) M240i is a damn quick car, but it´s not a real sportscar and it´s not that exciting and emotional. The same for M2/C. Watching your channel from beginning, you probably need something NA :-)
If anyone wants to buy an M6 V10 I would say hell yeah. But I think if you felt anxiety over having lots of your money in this car then the M6 will be worse perhaps. Imagine having a large portion of your savings invested into something that could explode at any time, gearbox or engine. But it would certainly be fun while it lasts. Your choice in the end of course
I had a F31 and got rid of it for almost the same reasons. Had very high expectations that were only partially met, but couldn't justify the cost of owning. Got a very neat Z3 and a quite nice E39 daily for the money and there is still more than some money left. I think it's also more interesting for the viewers if you own and work on some older stuff that is more demanding than modern plasticky cars. Imperfect cars have a lot more soul and those new BMWs are so good they lack character.
It's not just a car. The engine in my car blew up a few weeks ago and it felt like someone had died. Looking forward to what's coming next! Keep the great content coming.
Good move to retrench your finances in these difficult times. Maybe later a Z4M or Z4 Alpina would go down well with many of your supporters. We had an Alpina Z4 Lux from new and they are a wonderful car. Had it for 6 years. All the best for 2021.
I loved my M240i. Auto with adaptive, red with cream leather. I should never have sold it. However I moved to a 440i and I am very happy. I do miss the smaller body (v 440i) that can be hustled done country lanes.
So sorry Joel. I know how much you wanted the M240. But I must say that I never felt that you had the same connection to the M240 that you have with the Z4. Life goes on and I'm sure that you will get something that makes you feel better
Your viewers are here for you, not the car. Your enthusiasm, sincerity and wit are what people are really interested in. Find another beater and spruce it up. Keep moving forward!
I expected you'd sell it because the M240i as a daily driver it is too similar to the e85 (BMW reliability, BMW expenses, RWD, 2 door, 6 cylinder), you swapped an apple for pear when you wanted an orange. Ideally for a daily you should step down to 4 or 3 cylinders, 4 doors, FWD, fixed roof - the opposite of what you have.
Gutted for you mate. I change my cars all the time in last year have owned Jag XF, Z4 2.3i, Audi TTS, Mercedes Eclass Coupe and 2 Range Rover Sports. I still have newish RRS and New Eclass Coupe if you want to drive either for a review (give you some access to other cars) after Covid let me know. stupid thing is my insurance on Eclass, RRsport and z4 is less than £500 per year (advantage of being almost 50 i suppose)
I always preferred the Z4 stuff so you won't lose my sub..... probably a sensible choice given what you say. I know power is king for many and the turbo' s give lots of potential, but I would rather see you in a 35is Z4 and you can do all the same stuff / similar... maybe a new opportunity for next spring....

Really appreciate the support mate! Wish you all the best for the new year
The honesty comes through and it actually makes a change from the usual RUclips financed up to the max new car content.
You've still got a z4 on the drive 👍🏻
Appreciate that mate!!
Totally understand Joel and you gotta take care of yourself during this crazy time 👍
Cheers Max, hope you’re well and happy new year!
Thanks buddy! The decision was pretty easy, but never nice to let something go!
Definitely seems like the most sensible option given everything going on 👍
Cheers for the support mate
Don’t worry mate, it’s been a bad year for everyone. Respect for an honest and brave video.
Gutted for you man. You'll get back on it soon enough:)
Cheers mate!
Hi mate sorry to hear the news but good to hear some honesty from you
I still aim to get a 235 in the near future and will still tune into you in the future
Thanks Richard! Best of luck with the 235 hunt!
Happy new year joel when will we see a new post
Nice one, Joel. 🙌🏼
Sucks that the car has to go, but this stuff happens. Don’t worry too much, you’ll find something else next year. And since it’s going to a viewer, you might be able to revisit it some time
For sure mate. Thanks so much for the support
Tbh I only subbed for the Z4 and always skipped the m240 vids.
lol same
More Z4 stuff comin up. Be sure to let me know what you wanna see! Happy new year sir
Yeah I echo this 😁
Me too.. found those really interesting as I have one.. shame Joel moved onto the 240 😕
Consider a follow-up video in the next couple months with the new owner if he will allow it.
It makes sense given the situation most of us are in right now.
I SORN'd my E86 on the 31st December because there is nowhere to go!
Big surprise indeed, BUT please don't sell the Z4. Or buy an even better one :-)
Honestly, the Z4 not going anywhere
We've all been there Joel. Even though rationally it's the best option, it still hurts selling it. There's always that connection with that specific car you've had owned. Even though my previous car wasn't that special to some others, to me it was and somedays I still miss it.
Don't worry about your content, still subscribed anyway 😄
Yeah 100% that’s what it is. Many thanks for the support buddy it doesn’t go un-noticed. Happy new year!
A stopgap of an e90 3 series could well be a decent idea, could make a fair amount of content on that too that people would be interested in! Failing that, you get bomb around in your Z4 which isn’t a bad thing :)
did you sell it with all the extras? i might need to sell mine and it has a few bodypart extras.
I did yeah, that’s another reason it was such an attractive sale
No need to justify the sale mate, sh*t happens!
Enjoying the content nonetheless. Best of luck with the business/channel. Hopefully a more eventful 2021!
Thanks so much for the support mate
Been with Joel since he had a 100 subs and I’m staying here 🤙🏻
Sorry to see it go Joel, I've got the same car so I know how awesome it is and how crap this must have been! Sensible decision in the long run!
Thanks Kieran. Awesome cars. by selling now, I’m financially in profit. Wouldn’t have made sense to keep it for longer given everything going on!
@@itsjoel if you ever get lethargic and want another ride in one, you've got an invite from me in North Wales to come and explore Snowdon! (Post Covid)
Good luck with the sale , hope you get a new motor to enjoy
Haha loving the suggestions mate. Appreciate it, honestly. All the best for the new year!
Anyone wish Joel had an only fans? 😂 Proper fit
Oooooofffffff.
Good video as honest - you have to do what’s right for you - don’t worry what anybody else thinks. Good luck with your next purchase 👍👌😎
Stephen.
hang in there chap, you'll be back on it soon, great video too
Get yourself a cheeky cheap 986 Boxster like the one that caught your eye about halfway through
At first ive 2 say i completely agree with selling the car, the costs per month and the value u can sell it in years is hilarous.
So go on, live ur live like u want to do.
Second Thing is that i found your channel with the beginning of the 760 xD
I love the way u produce ur content.
At least the german autobahn is quiete fun but you have to be so focussed cause there is a lot of traffic which means the only Real time where u can get ur 250+km/h is at night when there no trucks and old people cause they crosses the lanes at 100kmh...
Looking forward to the z4 sleeping Video
Greetings from bavaria germany✌✌
Thanks buddy, I appreciate the kind words ! Looking forward to getting out to the autobahn in the 760!
bro i pass that way (next to the tescos) everyday to college and i have seen you once haha noice
Haha legend mate
could you make a video about getting insured on the modified car? Did you adjust the policy over time.... or get insured on the car modded before you fitted them?
Adjusted the policy as and when the modifications were done 👍🏻
I'm sorry to hear this Joel. It sounds like you wanted this to be your perfect daily driver but it was unable to deliver. Hopefully you'll find something better soon 👍
Thanks for the support mate. It just wasn’t quite right, and then to be offered a sale, I had to take it. Will all be for the best!
All the best for 2021! 🍀🙏🏽
And to you my friend!
You did the right decision. The best way to collect experience with a car is to buy it :-)
M240i is a damn quick car, but it´s not a real sportscar and it´s not that exciting and emotional. The same for M2/C.
Watching your channel from beginning, you probably need something NA :-)
Hey I have watched you from the start and will continue to do so. I wish I could hug you when you were clearly upset.
Thanks for your honesty Joel ! keep up the Great content.👍
Thanks for watching mate, happy new year
If anyone wants to buy an M6 V10 I would say hell yeah. But I think if you felt anxiety over having lots of your money in this car then the M6 will be worse perhaps. Imagine having a large portion of your savings invested into something that could explode at any time, gearbox or engine. But it would certainly be fun while it lasts. Your choice in the end of course
That sounds like GREAT ANXIETY 😅
@@itsjoel Then I can't wait to hear that engine scream
Buy well, keep on top of maintenance, do the preventative work and they aren't that bad to run.
Fuck the 240, least we’ll be going into 2021 with Joel.
You’re the man.
Good honest explanation
It's not just a car. The engine in my car blew up a few weeks ago and it felt like someone had died.
Looking forward to what's coming next! Keep the great content coming.
What you getting now? An M4 hopefully lol
Good move to retrench your finances in these difficult times. Maybe later a Z4M or Z4 Alpina would go down well with many of your supporters.
We had an Alpina Z4 Lux from new and they are a wonderful car. Had it for 6 years.
All the best for 2021.
By exiting now, I’ve profited from the car slightly. But I think if I’d left it longer, that would be very different
It’s a lot worse when you smash your pride and joy up and only have third party fire & theft 😉
16:57 You definitely mean first world problems 😂😂
Yep. Definitely a slip of the tongue that 😅
nice!
Gutted for you, but it's not a step backward, just a step in a different direction! Looking forward to seeing what you do next 💯💯
Definitely mate, thanks so much
I loved my M240i. Auto with adaptive, red with cream leather. I should never have sold it. However I moved to a 440i and I am very happy. I do miss the smaller body (v 440i) that can be hustled done country lanes.
Z4 ftw so glad that stays
So sorry Joel. I know how much you wanted the M240. But I must say that I never felt that you had the same connection to the M240 that you have with the Z4. Life goes on and I'm sure that you will get something that makes you feel better
Your viewers are here for you, not the car. Your enthusiasm, sincerity and wit are what people are really interested in. Find another beater and spruce it up. Keep moving forward!
Thanks so much buddy
Stil considering the V10 M6? After seeing that other one explode in front of your face?!
Yes. Still want to add one to the “fleet of one”
Well maintained S85's are fine.
🔥🔥
I know the feeling...sold my Z4 about two months ago. 😭 BUT... looking forward to the next fun car!
I feel for you mate, I missed the first 3.0 z4 I sold so much that I purchased another one and had it ever since 😂
@@coaldust01 thanks!
Thanks so much, may have to take you up on that. Particularly interested in RRs at the moment
@@itsjoel No problem just let me know and i'm sure we can sort something.
E89 Z4 seems like an interesting proposition at the moment
Huge respect to you. With you all the way. Dizeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
