  • Kennywood Park is the oldest Pennsylvania Amusement Park and was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1987. On our way in we pass the Turnpike gas station sign says Fun, Fun, Fun for the prices! Three guests waved as they were being hoisted up to the top of the SlingShot before dropping 150 feet down screaming as they skimmed the water of the lagoon as paddle boaters looked on. From the Olde Kennywood Railroad we see the last remaining Auto Race jalopy-style car ride built in 1930 left in the world. The Thunderbolt classic wooden rollercoaster that opened in 1924 comes roaring by as we head to the Ghostwood Estate ride. Once inside we see skeletons and ghosts working on a vein of gold in the mine. A freight train almost runs us over but we get away by luck. In the "Lost Kennywood" area the Pittsburgh Plunge and nostalgic Pitt Fall (1997-2011) the world’s tallest and fastest free fall ride were going full tilt. Mom and Jody go shopping where Jody models a delicious PIZZA hat! We rode the nostalgic Turnpike (1966-2010) past PA Route 837 in an old-fashioned car and check our pic on the way out to finish our day.
