I was documenting the painting of the new mural for my channel and they asked me to be in it! I'm the first black and white person on the left. The two people in front of me are maintenance workers from the 80s Kennywood documentary "Kennywood Memories" (You alright Geno?). Rick Sebak is to the right of me. He filmed Kennywood Memories. I'm still in shock and honored to be included in such a meaningful mural, especially alongside such iconic figures!!

Wow - sure has changed since I was 8yo and spent summers with my Aunt and Uncle in Duquesne (I'm 73). Kennywood was the highlight of my summers.
Yinz is the Pittsburghese version of y'all. So 'Yinzers" are folks that speak Pittsburghese. As in "Yinz goin to Kennywood the weekend?"
Pressed pennies used to be done by putting pennies on the railroad or trolly tracks.
Mr. Pickle references the Heinz Company headquartered in Pgh. Used to be when you toured the factory you got a pickle pin .

34:13 it’s called this because at the time, the park was only open until around Labor Day. Obviously not the case anymore, but it’s a super busy time of year for school students to attend the park before the school year starts.

Mr. Pickle was the Heinz pickle mascot. While we do love french fries it's really the cheese sauce they put on them at the potato patch that everyone loves. When they changed the cheese for a short time Pittsburghers lost their minds and they changed it back.

I miss when the Whip had that cool wooden canopy covering it. i wonder why they removed it? it was very old school and provided good shade during those hot pittsburgh summers.
Because it fell during a microburst thunderstorm and killed a woman.
Speaking of 'VERY old school', the wooden shelter location in Lost Kenny wood was only there a few years before collapsing. You should have seen the huge, decades old clear fiberglass and metal frame structure that was in place for decades by the former log jammer (where the defuct steel curtain has been collecting dust for 8 years since the start of construction September 18, 2017). That really threw some shade and was a great place to go during a downpour.

The Old Mill has come full circle, it was called the Old Mill when I was a kid and I think originally when it opened.
Kennywood is a beautiful park. This was fun.

Thanks for always sharing your Kennywood adventures, I live about 40 mins North of Pittsburgh. Grew up going to this park, all of our school picnics were always to Kennywood! Such good memories 🖤💛
America’s BEST mix of old and new, period. Beats Cedar Point and even Knoebels which is a gem in itself. Kennywood is just on another level with the specific classic rides they have. I treasure the many ACE events I’ve attended over the years and the fact that each wood coaster is completely unique and has its own legendary feature. And you add in the old and new dark rides, flats and themed food stands (love the steaming coffee! Straight out of rollercoaster tycoon). I do sorely miss the Log Jammer.
I hope you have time to go to Hershey or Dorney Park while you're in p.a. .. Kennywood, Dorney Hershey, action park (rip) and great adventure were my every summer traverse as a kid

The Kangaroo is the last one? Whoah. LeSourdesville Lake had that ride, we called it The Grasshopper, us kids would pile in and the kid on the end would get squashed, it was a lot of fun and we laughed like maniacs. It is way more fun than it looks.

There’s a science behind Pixar exhibit at the Carnegie Science Center and it go’s away in January 2025 you have to go there to see it before it’s gone I was there yesterday and I saw it it’s really cool 😃

Fall Fantasy parades have been going on in Kennywood basically forever. My mom marched in them in the 50's, I marched in them in the 80's. It's a tradition for the bands - they are usually on their first "march" of the year, fresh outta band camp, and they get to spend the rest of the day in Kennywood. Oh, and a "Yinzer" is a person from Pittsburgh. Because we say "yinz" instead of "y'all." 😀

A Yinzer is a blue collar Pittsburgher. I would say they speak with a Pittsburgh accent and colloquialisms (this is my own definition 😄)

Yinzers are those of us from Pittsburgh/Western PA who say Yinz instead of "Y'all" or "you guys". I have no idea when the word came around, but you'll hear it a lot in the area :)

Hi Jacob. My family and I are huge fans of you and Jenn. We live in West Mifflin. My children work at Kennywood. They were so sad they were not working yesterday and didn't get to see you. My son wanted you to know that you can go to guest services in the front of the park and get special permission to film on the rides. You should definitely be able to film on the old mill because it's a slow moving ride.
The old mill. Has gone through many name changes over the yrs . B4 Garfield it was name hard headed Harold's. Had a Mexican bar scene in it

Laffing Sal was once out by the train many years ago, before the arcade. I was last at KW in 2007. I don't know if the train still exists.
