This episode was never planned. Jessie was not supposed to live through the whole Crazy 8 shootout but after seeing the natural chemistry between Walt and Jessie, Vince Gilligan decided to keep him as a main character and gave him a back story. Best, decision, ever.
I heard Vince say they were going to kill Jesse off at the end of season one Krazy 8 was at the beginning I remember him talking about more killing him off with the Tuco beating and Walt was supposed to feel so guilty that he made him go to him and he would be out for revenge on the cartel and that would be his big breaking bad path but Jesse did so good with the character and the acting of Aaron Paul was so good and the acting between Bryan and Aaron was perfect chemistry and his character was popular with the audience so they had to rewrite the whole thing best thing for the show too he became one of the most important characters if he had gone the other way it would have only worked for another season after that there wouldn't have been much of an interesting story they needed that emotion and comedy between them and the threat of death between them
Man I'm so excited to get farther into this series with you, especially since after this episode you know nothing (hope no one spoils, this would be one of the worst shows to get spoiled in)
I'm sitting in the hospital right now with cancer. Since 2017 I've done 4 different types of chemo and have had a stem cell transplant and radiation. Right now I've been in the hospital with pneumonia that is a result of the side effects from the radiation. It all sucks. I totally understand why Walt doesn't want any of the treatments.
S1 Episode 5 "Gray Matter" has one of my favorites scenes from the hole series: The pillow talk scene. It's such a simple but so powerful sequence of IMPECCABLE acting and writing.
This show and Better Call Saul are the best 2 shows ever made, and they're so interconnected at this point that you can't watch one without watching the other. It's genuinely so interesting going into this universe through the eyes of someone who hasn't seen it before. You're gonna love it, and I sure as hell will too.
Damn dude, sorry to hear about your mom. I honestly don't know how I would handle me or someone close to me getting it. My mom lost her mom to cancer. She was really young. They found out too late. I honestly just feel grateful for being healthy almost everyday.
Primate I can just tell how much you're gonna love this show. Hell, wouldn't be surprised if you like it more than GoT, because with this show, it gets better with every season!
@@ewanbond8072 Except when season 6 was over, at the time, people were already saying GoT was the best show of all time. It wasn't until after season 8 ended that some people changed their tune.
16:50 I agree with that you can be too strict and push kids into being rebellious. Also feel sad for Jesse that they thought it was his and kicked him out when he was just covering for his brother..
Man, you’re in for a wild ride. I’ve watched Breaking Bad 3 times and I am SO excited to see your reactions as the show moves on as it only gets better and better. Jesse has insane character development and he is by far my favourite character of the show.
"Chemistry is the study of matter but I prefer to see it as the study of Change." Its always fun to see someone watching early on try to predict as we all did... the shows outcome. So unaware of the depth and majesty the crew,, actors, Gould and Gilligan expand upon across 6 seasons a movie and an additional 6 seasons. Something Game of thrones couldn't out do after millions were spent. Thankfully this universe had better dynamic and direction.
The strict parents thing is what I call.....Preacher's son/daughter syndrome lmao.....They are all nice and clean and well behaved at least for a time and then resentment and the oppressed feelings and desires boils up until it just explodes and you get kids that are totally wild lol
So glad you are enjoying the depth of this show already. Remember every detail because it all builds. Absolutely NOTHING is left to chance in "Breaking Bad". On repeat watches, people are still finding details that augment future events. Every character has incredible complexity that feels natural to their motives.
The effectiveness of treatment really depends on the type of cancer. My son has leukemia and is still taking chemo now. No, it's not fun. It's a long hard road and there are short and long term side effects. But leukemia has been well studied over the years and now has a very high cure rate in children. So I can say without a doubt that the chemo saved his life. We didn't give him the option to decline treatment, as he is so young, but we do try to give him choices whenever possible. For adults, though, this is absolutely a valid discussion to have. I also see both sides of it. I understand Walt wanting to have autonomy over his own body, especially knowing how difficult treatment is and that in his case it's not likely to be successful. Though if I would think he would want to extend his life long enough to at least see the birth of his daughter, if possible. But I also understand the feelings of his family. They don't want to lose him. His son, especially, has gone through a lot of discomfort in his life and thinks that that's what his father is afraid of. So I get that. It's a difficult thing, but definitely worth discussing.
You better watch Better Call Saul after this. There are a lot of Breaking Bad easter eggs and the things that are mysterious in BB can be explained in Better Call Saul. If BB is a 10, BCS is a 9
Game of thrones, Vikings, Sons of Anarchy, and True Blood are some of my favorite shows!! They all have seasons or episodes that I really don't like, even though I would watch them all over and over. Breaking Bad is a whole different situation. In my opinion it's the most perfect show ever made! I've seen it through a few times, and I always see new clues or little gems hidden in each episode. Can't wait for you to enjoy this ride but be prepared for this show to be your new standard. And to date, that standard has not been met again ❤️❤️

I live in Abq and used to work near the zoo, which is close to both Jessie's house and Tuco's hideout. Tuco's hideout is actually a cafe I used to frequent a couple times a week. It's on Park, close to 8th and Central. The gas station with the BMW driver is next to a supply store I've had to use. Wait, is Jessie's brother the same kid who played that little movie star in Entourage who 'dated' Ari's daughter?

The acting...the writing...the editing and direction all 10/10
