@Cyanide I guarantee you're just moving too quickly and people are hearing/seeing you early, maybe even following you for a few minutes. You say you're running into "bush campers", but those are probably people who were moving patiently and carefully to their objective, noticed you coming, and then waited in a hiding place for a shot. Use the scroll wheel movement speeds constantly. Even at the absolute slowest crouched movement speed, people can still hear you if they're close enough. Moving at a jog or especially sprinting always have to be calculated risks. And even if you can't afford anything besides a basic gun and rig, always prioritize a pair of comtacs. They will save your life. If I have to be out in the open I always assume someone is aiming at me, I'm constantly zigzagging and tapping and releasing sprint to make myself almost impossible to get a shot on. And if I get near any buildings or hot spots, I crouch or lay down behind cover and listen, then crouch walk at the slowest speed until I'm sure I'm alone (even then, someone could still hear you from outside if you speed up too much). Customs is where the early tasks are, but it's really hard to survive there because the map is nothing but chokepoints. The best balance of good loot and a map that's actually survivable as a new player is Interchange. Take your scav in there, you can even go at night if you really want to rat it up, and don't even enter the mall at first. Loot the hidden stashed round the outside, loot the power station, loot the parking garage and warehouses (the parking garage is full of weapons boxes). Then just carefully run to one of the two extracts on the outside corners (Emercom and Railway, I usually like Railway because it has tons of stashes) and get out. More than half the time, especially if I'm on my scav and he spawns late, I don't even see another player. Nothing too crazy in loot if you just try to get out with your scav's gear and hit stashes, but the power station and garages can net you a hundred k or so without too much crazy luck. From there, when you get confident, you can start going inside the mall on your scav and look for bodies from firefights in the last 10 minutes, or go in on your PMC with an early spawn and just a pistol and rig and sprint to the tech stores, maybe grab a graphics card and throw it in your gamma. There are ways to make money there even with nothing.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I only gained a little bit of knowledge when trying to learn it by myself. A really nice guide on modding would be a “modding your first gun” guide. On an account that hasn’t examined everything(maybe a fresh level 10). Actually showing the process you have to go through: examining the gun, then going through the mounts to link search them and examining the stuff, then the barrel, ETC. Then building it and explaining why you need certain parts, this is to add a different stock, this is to add a sight on the side. That video would be the only video out there anyone would need to start modding.
Thanks for the preset been saving a very decked out gun I got from a level 40 now I can preset it and use it in in game even if I lose it ill learn how to remake it.

Thank YOUUUUUUU! I was doing a build I saw on J Dog th3 Wise and could not figure out why he had a hand guard I didn't. You explained my issue! I thought it might have had to do with not have the trader unlocked, nope just go discover it on the flea market :) Thanks man! Keep up the great content!
Great vid! I actually was asking myself if there is a way to design my favourite gun and then buy the needed parts at once. Thank you very much for that video!
Great intro vid! Now I’m ready for modding a more complex gun. Things like parts buyable only from a specific trader /trader lvl. Also wanna learn to do special scope mods too
Great video. New to etf. Level 4 about to be level 5 and open flea market. But I know whip os coming soon so will be starting over damit. Game is hard as hell . But love that. Going to stick with it. About got customs map down for the most part. Played woods and shoreline and did good until I couldn't find my extraction both times and died. Lol
Searching an item by opening any gun build and right clicking on preferred part occasionally causes game to crash. Just to let you know. Better way is simply checking an items name and searching it manually.
The worst's when you discover the hard way that two parts aren't compatible cause it's not written anywhere! "Wasted" a MOE ar15 handguard to know that it can't go with a standard 406mm barrel...
