This module sounds better than the TD-17 on my VAD306, I'm actually disappointed after realizing how good some of the snare sounds are on here compared to the TD-17. As for Yamaha not updating the pads, my guess is the budget. Keeping the kit designed as is makes it more affordable. Just my guess!

I really hope Yamaha considers upgrading the pads at some point because now that Alesis and Roland have had their flagship upgrades this year, Yamaha seriously needs to put something new out to compete. They have the best sounding module hands down, but just… how did anyone think putting those cymbals and rubber pads was remotely okay.
You can't compare this to Alesis and Roland flagship....I mean you can but that's comparing a prius to a RAM TRX lol this kit is 899 on sale from an already low price of 999. Yamaha makes a DTX10 to compete with the flagships and it has excellent pads.
Excellent drumming as always ,but shockingly bad sound for a kit in 2021. Its pretty much inexcusable. I would love to see the site figures for yamaha kits, as I just can't imagine how they continue to be competative. Does anyone actually know why yamaha doesn't offer mesh pads? I thought it was a patent issue but now every other manufacturer offers mesh. Would love to see yamaha team up with ssd and produce a killer £3k set of acoustic style drums with vst level sounds, kind of like what alesis did with the strike Pro.
Thank you very much! Actually I think that the module has lots of really great natural drum sounds, and very authentic room ambiences. Especially considering its low price point. Hopefully Yamaha will come up with new pads quite soon :) kind regards!

What would a drum-enhancing accessory be? :-D as shown in the video, the sound was recorded directly from the sound module's output without any further processing. Kind regards
@@drumtecTV Thanks, but I just watched the video again and no where is it mentioned that these are stock sounds. I'm not trying to be testy here, but I've watched other E-drum videos where the player stated that the stock sounds were weak. Hello good evening, I would like to buy a battery, but I don't know which one to choose ... It is between a ROLAND TD-07KV or a YAMAHA DTX6K - X. What would you recommend me?
I was wondering what ekit for $1000 do you recommend? I was thinking this yamaha or the roland for $1000. ( I did look at alesis as well ) I'm going be playing mostly jazz so its important to me good cymbals ( but I also am going to be playing the other genres) I just feel like a good brain is Critical and good cymbals, but great toms less so .
Hey John, for best playability & triggering I would recommend a Roland, possibly even the TD-17KV if you can stretch the budget a little more. If you are playing jazz mainly, using a moveable VH-10 hihat controller would improve the whole experience, and a 3 zone ride would also be a major upgrade. So in the end, my suggestion would actually be the TD-17KVX :) all the smaller kits come with quite some compromises in realism/playability. Kind regards!
The TD-07 offers complete mesh pads & state-of-the-art Roland triggering, while the Yamaha DTX Pro module has some really nice onboard sounds. I'd probably suggest the TD-07KV, it feels more natrual with the mesh pads and the triggering is great. You can later upgrade a 3-zone ride for example too. Kind regards!

Except for the Pearl Mimic ... I still need to see a sound module that actually looks from above 2010. In this case, the sound improvement are minimal ... still no enough layers in the sound (easily noticeable on the snare) as well as the lack of Round Robin technology. As for Yamaha not updating the pads, my guess is the budget. Keeping the kit designed as is makes it more affordable. Just my guess!
@@jaydoode15 no doubt budget was a consideration but it just seems like they could have up'ed their game just a little bit more. But like I said I have I hopes for a new flagship offering more realistic size pads. I'm sure I'm not alone in that desire.
Let's hope Yamaha comes out with a bunch of new pads some time soon or even manages to get compatibility with drum-tec/Roland pads going, that would be super awesome :-D
@@drumtecTV didn't they have a mesh snare option in the manual of this?
Confirmed on unsatisfying sounds of TD17 module and I already sold TD17KVX.
Could you do the Yamaha DTX6K2-X????
Thanks for the answer to my question! Hope you don't mind if I log another one your way: Do brushes work on the snare pad?
Hey Scott, no unfortunately there is no brush sweep function, even the current Roland modules do not have it unfortunately. Kind regards!
Sound quality/tone aside. How does it feel playing compared to Roland TD-07?
Can you do a rim shot on this kit?
At 23sec you list the XP80 snare as 10" - I thought the XP80 was an 8" snare?? Typo?
Your are right :) Thank you & kind regards!
Hi, what brand is your headphone ?
I don't know, if u watch the Roland TD-17KV from this same channel they sound much better in my opinion
I'm stuck on whether to buy these or the Roland TD-17KV, cant decide.
Buy this. Even though the pads are out to date but the sounds from dtx6 pro module way better for entry level kit
@@amirulyusop8520 I'm not sure cause if u watch this vid (from this same channel) they sound much better especially the bass

I just spent some time going between this and the TD-17 at the store and there was just no comparison. The Roland is stale and synthetic compared to this, I was enjoying myself a lot more on the Yam. The pads are pretty small though, but they just came out with the DTX8 if that is an issue (much pricier though).
@@yanb.193since this was a while ago I ended up going with the Roland's and I'm happy, my old drum kit was $450 and it was some random brand so I legit went from a Toyota corrola to an AMG Mercedes 😂 so either roland or yamaha would've been a big upgrade regard less

Two cymbals here have holes in them ! Are they supposed to be quieter this way?
DTX6K-X drum set was delivered today, but the bass pad and pedal are not included. My son is 9 years old and has just started learning drums. I bought the set for him to practice at home, but I was surprised to find that the pedal is missing. Could you recommend which pedal I should buy?
The bass pedal isNOT included which is listed in the description about the kit on every major site selling it. If you didn’t receive the bass drum pad, contact Yamaha and tell them. If you provide some kind of proof, they should send you one for free.
I was strongly considering the Alesis crimson 2 but this is a comparable model in a similar price range from a more reputable company. Thoughts?

is this kit better compared to roland td 17 series for high speed drum beat?
What the diference between dtx 6kx vs dtx 452?
does a non-yamaha 2 zone cymbal work with this?
Hy. When I beat high-head, there's a little sound from the snare drum. How to fix it?
From my point of view, it sounds more realistic than Roland but, How good are the triggers? Are they comparable to the Roland TD-17? How is playability?
Hey Javier, the triggering was pretty good, but the small rubber pads are nowhere close to real drums playing feel wise. So let's hope there will b some Yamaha pad updates as well some time soon :) Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Thanks for your response
@@drumtecTV I believe there will be. I also believe you already know there will be. ;-)
If you had to pick today between this and a Roland 17KVX which would you choose?
Hey Michael, I personally would go for a Roland because of the state-of-the-art triggering/playability. The Yamaha has some great sounds though! Kind regards
Is this compatible with Superior Drummer 3 or Ez drummer?
The module has a midi output, so basically yes :) kind regards!
Support double pedal?
This yamaha or roland td17?
Depends a lot on your personal preferences!
I'm still happy with my Roland td17kvx and the the sample sounds I bought online on drum-tec. They sound better than this yamaha kit. Just my own opinion though
Thank you Shaun, glad to hear that! :)
I also prefer my TD17.

Enter the DTX 8 and DTX 10...
@@drumtecTV hi, do you know why yamaha doesn't offer mesh pads? I don't necessarily think mesh is better but I am just curious. P.s. please drum tech partner with someone and make a sub £500 basic module with a vst level kit inside!
IMO this sounds way better out of the box than the Roland alernatives...
Anyway there's a 12" mesh pad in the works @Yamaha, with positional sensing. The XP125SD-X. Not sure when it releases though.
Hi, is there a way to hook your phone in to this module and play music from a streaming app into the headphones?
Yes, you can connect AUX input of DTX-PRO to headphones socket in your phone, and then play music from your phone to the module and headphones connected to it
Can I upgrade the hi hat with a stand? If I can which one you recommend?
You can check out the hi-hat stands of our Elementary Series for example!
Yes. But you need to buy the HRR-135 hi-hat pad. It's a 2 piece hi-hat pad that you can use wiath a stadnd.
Whick kit would you reccomend between this and Millenium MPS 1000? My budget is max 1200 euro.
I'd suggest a Roland TD-07 KV :)

There are also some more different configurations of the kit available from drum-tec:

Any Roland / Yamaha / ATV kit will play/trigger significantly better than a Millenium in any case.
Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further assistance. Kind regards!
Will someone please answer this question? Are these the raw sounds coming from the module or have they been run through a drum-enhancing accessory? Thanx!
They enhanced them with EZ-Drummer or ToonTrack - though it wasn't this particular kit. The crazy is - The DTX-Pro Module costs almost as much as the entire kit. I don't understand this. I bought the DTX-Press lll in 2004. Yea, it still works, ha! All I really want is the module. Maybe Guitar Center here in St. Louis has a display set I can try out. Hey Bryan, feel free to get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for further assistance on your decision & more info on both kits. Kind regards!
Why not use DTX6K3 to make a video
Because it's not yet available here in Germany :) Kind regards!
I was wondering what ekit for $1000 do you recommend?
I was thinking this yamaha or the roland for $1000. ( I did look at alesis as well )
I'm going be playing mostly jazz so its important to me good cymbals ( but I also am going to be playing the other genres)
I just feel like a good brain is Critical and good cymbals, but great toms less so .

Thanks so much, i guess i have some saving to do ! :D
why it doesn’t incorporated the foot pedal? where can i get it?
Most edrum sets don't have an pedal included, but you can basically use any bass drum pedal for playing.
@@drumtecTV thanks for response 😊
What is best one? roland TD07kv vs dtx6k-x. Can you reconmend?
The TD-07 offers complete mesh pads & state-of-the-art Roland triggering, while the Yamaha DTX Pro module has some really nice onboard sounds. I'd probably suggest the TD-07KV, it feels more natrual with the mesh pads and the triggering is great. You can later upgrade a 3-zone ride for example too. Kind regards!
Yamaha drums sound better than Roland. Is that right? Can I use the symbols used in TD-3 for TD-07kv? Is extended compatibility possible?

well this sucks.. Yamaha modules sounds insane.. hard to believe this is a 1K kit.... I wanted to pick up a TD1-DMKX (version with extra CY8 RIDE) for $500, but this makes me reconsider..
Yamaha has some outstanding sounds for sure, yet Roland playability / triggering is by far the best you can get. You might look at the more recent TD-07 models, as the TD-1 is rather old & inflexible.

Except for the Pearl Mimic ... I still need to see a sound module that actually looks from above 2010. In this case, the sound improvement are minimal ... still no enough layers in the sound (easily noticeable on the snare) as well as the lack of Round Robin technology. Modules with small LCD screens, minimal features and disk space ... once again, disappointing.
