Nevertheless, knowing that he would die anyway, he still helped his fellow tribesman. And because of this, his death is ten times more tragic.

This scene is very close to how I escaped from a girlfriend who was after my welfare check in South Central. XLNT job Mel! The making of this movie is even better.
This is definitely one of the most brutal movies in it’s time and I know we’ll never get another movie like this again. With the exception of the brutality off The Northman and or The Last Duel
I agree but the brutality (and historical era) reflects the Aztecs more. I’m assuming Gibson just really liked the Mayan language because Aztecs were the ones who were at their height in the late 1400’s and early 1500’s. The Last Duel was more accurate because it’s based off an actual historical book while The Northman is just Viking Hamlet.
4:35 he was the dude that the whole village play pranks on, tricked him into eating pig nuts, to then having him spread peepers on his nuts , and bro still kept his loyalty till the end, solid 💯
That scene after he takes the spear out of his body and the other spear comes flying into the picture is so intense. Probably cgi, but what an incredible shot.
I find ancient American weapons more scary than any gun or steel blade. They're so crude and blunt, I can't imagine the sort of pain they would have caused.
@@JRcalifornia You need to read about the Spanish invasions because they were FAR from boring. Some of the most horrible chapters of human history, but very interesting to read about. Especially Cortez.

I went into this movie without ever seeing a trailer or knowing anything about it. It was the second movie I had seen that day. We had paid for the first one which I can’t even remember what it was and snuck into this one from the beginning. It really surprised us and was amazing
Mixed blood American Indian actor Max Trujillo made a great bad ass warrior chief in this movie. In the movie. that was his character's son that was dying in his arms so the ensuing chase was very personal to the chief.
This movie is just amazing. It’s a window into the past that enlightens you to how humans are in the present. Mel needs to do this with some other indigenous cultures such as the Lapita people, or the olmecs, or even austronesian/aboriginal peoples. Stories that need to be told and Mel is THE guy to tell them.
5:42 I love the realism of this part, in movies it is not very common to see how someone whose throat was cut really drowns in movies when someone gets their throat slit dies instantly hahaha.- great performance, I love the fear on his face

Due to my baby brother, I first heard of and watched this movie back in 2010..It has placed itself on my favorite of all time list.. I was 23 and my baby brother was 18 at the time..I truly enjoy this movie
this movie sucks, it's the most historically inaccurate film made, and i thought braveheart was bad...
@@randomtactician6290 all of history is false, so better don't stress yourself about it and enjoy them as action movies!
Your brother is not a baby.
@@randomtactician6290 Someone watched that youtube video about how historically accurate Apocalypto is. Its a drama movie, not a historical epic - it doesn't matter
@@shosc16 It does matter. It’s about history. If he didn’t want to make a video about history, he didn’t have to. You can make a historically accurate good movie, look at Waterloo for example.
I watched this movie around 20 times in tv, around 10 times in YT still continues to watch it again and again
By far the most underrated action movie ever.
This realistic and frightening section in this movie, is more adrenaline pumping and fear inducing than any other film I have seen since. Totally brilliant acting and production!
This scene is very close to how I escaped from a girlfriend who was after my welfare check in South Central. XLNT job Mel! The making of this movie is even better.
Jajaja jajaja jajaja jajaja
hahahaajahajahjhaha
LOL Some comments really brighten up my day
You guys made a great couple. Two lazy loosers
JAJAJAJA
1 of the best movies I've ever seen
💯
Оne of the best Underrated movies. The another one is the Everest.
🙏🙏
not after you learn the history behind the fall of the mayans
This is definitely one of the most brutal movies in it’s time and I know we’ll never get another movie like this again.
With the exception of the brutality off The Northman and or The Last Duel
I agree but the brutality (and historical era) reflects the Aztecs more. I’m assuming Gibson just really liked the Mayan language because Aztecs were the ones who were at their height in the late 1400’s and early 1500’s.
The Last Duel was more accurate because it’s based off an actual historical book while The Northman is just Viking Hamlet.
Inspirational movie. Nothing is finished until it's finished.
One of the best movies ever. Cannot express what other movie made me to feel the variety of emotions that this movie did.
4:35 he was the dude that the whole village play pranks on, tricked him into eating pig nuts, to then having him spread peepers on his nuts , and bro still kept his loyalty till the end, solid 💯
Not many of them guys left.
Facts
But the village loved him.
That scene after he takes the spear out of his body and the other spear comes flying into the picture is so intense. Probably cgi, but what an incredible shot.
Yuh!! I stay rewinding that part and the close call at the waterfall
Meu Deus, que filme MARAVILHOSO !!! Com certeza um dos MELHORES que já tive o PRAZER de assistir na vida !!! This movie is MARVELOUS !!!!
Try running backwards so you can see the arrows coming.
Then they won't see the guard standing behind them
Or simply run in zig zag.
@@RodrigoSahagun ohh. It’s
So simple. Thank god for you
So you think you could have done better than them ?
@Uncle Adolf No, but you can by running backwards.
I re watch Apocalipto once or twice a year

This is a must own kind of movie. An unsung little gem.
story telling and film making at its premium.. outstanding
As a history enthusiast, I'm still considering Apocalypto as the best movie
what about "master and commander"
same
I like the movie but it's really historically inaccurate. I love it especially tho because it used real indigenous actors
Agreed!
@@marcoslopez5795 Ever heard of word "Fictional"? It's a movie.
I find ancient American weapons more scary than any gun or steel blade. They're so crude and blunt, I can't imagine the sort of pain they would have caused.

Absolutely fantastic movie. We need more like this one.
I still remember the movie...it is one of the most wonderful and beautiful movies in my memory
One of the best movie I've ever watched. I wish they come out with a second one
You mean a sequel where they pick up right where they left off? When the europeans arrived? That was definitely apocalypto.
No way, they'll ruin it.
They'd have cheesy jokes and make it into franchise. It won't be rated R, itll be tailored for all audiences.
@@TheRajmoney Marvel these days
Second one is when spanish came ha ha :)) european power :))
@@JRcalifornia You need to read about the Spanish invasions because they were FAR from boring. Some of the most horrible chapters of human history, but very interesting to read about. Especially Cortez.
Great film. Can watch without subtitles and still understand what is happening while simultaneously creating your own dialog, thanks to the director.
เป็นภาพยนต์ ที่ดีมากๆ.เลยนะคะ..
ดูแล้วดูอีก ก็ยังชอบดู 👍💖😊 👍
Just finished watching this i’ve seen this movie so many times today was the first time i’ve seen it in ages this movie is so incredible
Only real artists like Mel could create a masterpiece without a single cgi
you think they were real arrows and spears being thrown at the actors?
There is, just great use of it. :)
@@jim191185 and there was a real jaguar trying to kill the main actor.
They casually beheaded people 😂
@@jim191185 Of course they were real and the deceased actors, RIP, their wages went to their families.
Had mel Gibson not had those drinks...this would have won an Oscar
Fuck oscars, meaningless junk ceremony, mel killed it with his movies and he's gonna be recognized as a genius when he's gone
@@Herodollus rationalizing but...ok. Mel is that dumbass that kinda messed his career for the time being

The kind of movie you will be locked in from A to Z without moving a muscle. Wonderful movie I hope they make second part of it.
The CGI arrow with the ultra near miss just as Jaguar Paw turns to escape to the field is so perfect. Far better than films where there's an absurd accumulation of near misses.
One of the best movies I have ever seen, along with Braveheart. Mel Gibson, is one incredible story teller
I prefer this a lot to brave heart though.
Phenomenal scene
...The look in the guy's face when he noticed his son got Toe-Tagged and sent to the freezer 🤣
This movie is fantastic, just one of the MANY amazing scenes.
5:27 just amazing the impression of the spear & 🏹 speed...you can really feel the power of this weapons !!
This whole movie is an unique experience; it scores high in every dept …MG is a great visualiser…..thanks MG for giving us such an enriching cinematic experience
Their throwing is literally more precise than any gun in the action movies
Rust is an action movie.
Could be real because the entire life they do this to survive and they check very few their instagram pages
They are quite literally the complete opposite of storm troopers
You do the same stuff everyday for 20 years, you get good at it.
This definitely one of the main reasons it took so long for them to get conquered
0:15 The Craftsman Torture Kit is hilariously so "hollywould-but-i-won't"
This scene is completely unbelievable. I don't care how good of an archer you are. To hit moving targets 100 meters away as they weave and duck would be next to impossible.
5:00
Turing point of one of the greatest underated movie ever made.
If only they had run *zizag* , most of the would have been alive or just mearly injured instead of the hero barely making it out alive.
That's why using the brain is important.
Exactly!! Fun fact: is Geronimo would actually zigzag at his enemies with his knife and was able to get some kills doing that. Talk about badass!
"Serpentine, Shel! Serpentine!"
Definitely zigzag running is good strategy !
still one of THE BEST MOVIES ever!
I loved this movie.
Very hard at times but equally memorable.
Мощная, потрясающая, мегаталантливо сделанная картина гениального Гибсона ❗💣❤️. Мне очень понравился этот фильм, была под колоссальным впечатлением 👍🧡
3:55 I love how he did that, he watched them run long enough and figured out their pattern and knew exactly where he’d be after firing his arrow!
For real. These guys use to do that shit everyday. It was second nature.
That guy is the observant one. He’s the same guy that figured out Jaguar Paw was hiding in a tree while the rest of them kept running mindlessly around the jungle
dude was a savage
@@glitterdragon9197 And the chief noticed and felt his authority was threatened, that's why he killed him.
I went into this movie without ever seeing a trailer or knowing anything about it. It was the second movie I had seen that day. We had paid for the first one which I can’t even remember what it was and snuck into this one from the beginning. It really surprised us and was amazing
My dad used to do that, LOL--pay for a movie and sneak into another one. So funny.
My friends and I used to do that lol! We were so cheap I used to bring a satchel full of snacks and drinks.
Wait, how does that work? You basically go out and enter another room?
Mixed blood American Indian actor Max Trujillo made a great bad ass warrior chief in this movie. In the movie. that was his character's son that was dying in his arms so the ensuing chase was very personal to the chief.
Love those scenes, when 2 runners run in different direction ,just to avoid direct hit by arrows.
Underestimated! one of the greatest movies ever
The old Germanic tribes would be peak
Movie is very good but it was depicted historically wrong
A masterpiece of a film! Shows Gibson for the cracking director he is! Brutal film
5:42 I love the realism of this part, in movies it is not very common to see how someone whose throat was cut really drowns
in movies when someone gets their throat slit dies instantly hahaha.- great performance, I love the fear on his face
