I love the lore about secret bosses. Both Jevil and Spamton met "someone" and they've started to act weird after that. What is even more interesting is that after defeating Spamton Neo, near his shop few guys appear, and they tell the player Spamton's story. They say that he got help after talking with "someone", but when that "someone" left them, Spamton's products weren't selling that good again, and he left his room in Queen's Mansion, leaving the phone hanging. The last guy that talks about Spamton's past says that he heard someone on the other side of the phone, but when he put it to his ear he heard nothing but garbage noise. That would be just creepy, if not the fact that when we try to use our cell phone while in Dark World, the game literally says that there's nothing but garbage noise. And that garbage noise is the same sound like in entry number 17. Strange, isn't it?
Plus the fact that entry 17's audio is called "Smile" and that smiling is what Kris does when they get rid of their soul. (And that smile that appears on the TV at the end)

Well it's confirmed that he went nuts after receiving a call which, according to other salesmen, only had 'garbage noise' coming from it, the exact description used to describe the Gaster-associated 'smile.ogg' when the player attempts to use their cell in the dark world.
@@michaeldreemurrandhisaus2165 if you go back to spamtons trash alley after his death, you’ll find the other advertisements lamenting his passing. Talk to them in order and you’ll be able to piece together a story. Apparently, Spamton used to be a regular advertisement, but he was really down on his luck, having to literally sleep in dumpsters. But one day, he got a call from someone, and they apparently gave him directions. He followed those directions, and his business skyrocketed. He was the most popular and rich advertisement to the point where he even got his own room in the Queen’s castle. But just as suddenly as the calls started coming, they one day just... stopped. Spamton lost it, he wasn’t sure what to do, and he couldn’t maintain his business. Everything fell apart right before his eyes, and he had seemingly been corrupted from the voice on the phone. He was set to be ejected from the Queen’s castle. He spent the last days he was allowed in his room, desperately calling numbers to no avail. One of the advertisements claims to have been jealous of Spamton’s success at the time, and managed to sneak into his room and got on the phone with the man supposedly giving him directions, but to his surprise, there was no voice, only “garbage noise” as he called it. Coincidentally, you’ll notice if you use your cell phone in the dark world, then you’ll just hear gaster noises, followed by the prompt, “it was nothing but garbage noise.” This seems to imply that the calls Spamton was getting were coming from Gaster, and even more interestingly, the same ones you’re getting. Another interesting detail is the “wrong number song,” from Undertale, which may actually be linked to this mystery. If you’ll recall, the caller was apparently hoping to reach someone who’s name started with a G. People have speculated the caller is trying to reach Gaster, meaning this could possibly be Spamton on the phone, somehow, from an alternate timeline. Alternatively, it’s interesting to note that Spamton’s full name is actually “Spamton G. Spamton.” Perhaps it was Gaster trying to reach Spamton.
@@elsansquegira9310 That might just be a reference since the song's called "Power of NEO" but I like to think Spamton is somehow connected to Deltarune Mettaton. SpamTON. MettaTON. Am I thinking too hard?
Kris got goosebumps after the fight with spamton NEO. If I didn't know any better, I would assume this indicates he's afraid because of the fact he's in a situation exactly like spamton's-- Only, his friends can't cut his strings.
Now that I think about it, that’s cursed, whenever we play a video game, we are controlling a character, like actually controlling them, they could have had a life of their own, but we started controlling them like a puppet on the strings
So, anyone else noticed how in both Pacifist and Snowgrave routes, Kris just... used the Yellow Soul mode on command? Like, they either instinctively did it in order to survive or somehow knew it beforehand? In Undertale, Frisk's soul either changed modes because of the enemy's ability or was taught how to it, but here they just knew how to do it. No other enemy in either chapter changed our Soul Modes so far. What else are you trying to tell us, Toby?
It's the same soul as from undertale Same reason why we can say to sans "it's great to see you again" when kris as never met him Or why we can mention alphys to undyne in chapter 1
Just beat this boss on my Pacifist run, and now this track is stuck in my head lol, so many themes mashed together here. I like the correlation to Mettaton as well; both wanting to be a star and make it big, so they look for a strong body, becoming power-hungry in the process. And they are both puppets, Mettaton in a more figurative sense
Ok so so far i've seen nobody talks about the fact that the empty hard drive , the place where you get it, t's quite literaly mettaton neo remains, so spamton is infecting and taking control over mettaton neo body
@@shocktornado7110 and how the hell did the body even get there? There is some connection between the undertale universe since the body was constructed only in the undertale universe, also it seems like the boss has the power of neo themes that only play on genocide?? So this is a new mystery to solve
So I just watched a summary of Deltarune Chapter 2's Genocide, or "Snowgrave", route, quite a lot of things are different, up to and including Spamton's role in the chapter. A lot of the tragedy and insight to his character are gone, and you don't even see his normal/original form, you only see him at the very end, right when you're about to seal the fountain (after briefly going through Pandora Palace, that has been taken over by him), trying to stop you from sealing the fountain as Spamton NEO, because if you do that, he'll no longer have this newly obtained power. He spends most of the fight chastising Kris for their actions in the game, as well as trying to screw him over like this. Also worth noting that, unlike the regular Spamton fight, there's no option to cut his strings, all you can do is attack him. Then, right up until he reaches 10% or less of his health, he activates an ability he doesn't display in the regular fight, increasing his defense so high that he can't be defeated. Kris's ACT menu then has images of Ralsei and Susie show up, and Kris calls for their help... ...but nobody came. (sound familiar?) Spamton then gloats about how no one is coming to help Kris after what they've done, and this goes on until Noelle's icon shows up in the ACT menu. Then you, that is "You", the player, not Kris, quietly say Noelle's name. Spamton once again gloats about what we've done to Noelle and thinks there's nothing they can do to stop him... before mentioning how suddenly cold it is. Cut to black, several ice attacks noises are heard and damage output noises are seen, then Kris's soul silently seals the fountain. It's kind of amazing how context completely changes how one views a character. Without the sudden tragic end to Spamton's fight or the dialogue in his shop about who he was or what he used to be, Spamton comes off as just another obstacle in your path, one where sympathy or pity doesn't even factor into his characterization. I mean, the creep factor is still there, because Spamton as a whole is kind of creepy, and I'd even go so far as to say having him suddenly and quietly killed off-screen, by Noelle of all people, is another underlying creep factor to it. Of course, that's not to say Spamton isn't still interesting despite given a lot less to work with, since he's still the one to go to to ensure you keep on track for this Genocide/Snowgrave route, in order to get the Thorn Ring needed to progress, acting as the count meter like the one in Undertale's Genocide run. It's just fascinating to reflect on how differently you come across him depending on what's done in the game.
What's more unsettling is what he tells you during that fight. About how you've been "making" Noelle, and now that you've got your own supply of [[hyperlink blocked]] you don't need him anymore. We can't kill enemies as Kris and the others, so a "genocide route" is off the table. Noelle, however, seems to be different. Her ice spells actually freeze enemies solid. He keeps going on about how "...making [frozen chicken] with your [side chick] is going to let you drink that [sweet sweet] [freedom sauce]". No matter which way you play this, chapter 3 is definitely going to be a major turning point in the story.
It should also be noted that in Deltarune, specifically in both Spamton NEO fights, it’s more explored in-depth that the character you control, as in Frisk and Kris are two different entities. Kris is clearly creeped out by Spamton, and during Berdly, Noelle keeps insisting that she doesn’t know Snowgrave, despite our selecting it. My headcanon is we control the SOUL, not the character (even in Undertale, Frisk will do things without our commanding them, like hiding behind the lamp.) Additionally, we can control the SOUL when Kris rips it out of theirselves at the end of each chapter.
@@hansonkerman7286 Kris is completely unfazed by Spamton during the first encounter, until he mentions his [HeartShapedObject], at which point Kris takes a noticeable step backwards. Kris being his own entity separate from the player is pretty much 100% confirmed. When it comes to actual _headcanon_ stuff, well... At the end of Undertale's genocide route, Chara implores you to "...erase this pointless world, and move on to *the next.* " And now, in Deltarune, we're once again controlling a red heart...
@@hoppefrosk frick, now I’m thinking that our controlling of Kris’s red [[HeartShapedObject]] is due to LOVE-influenced Chara oh no we’ve just been egging them on by playing the Snowgrave route oh god oh frick
I think this is when Kris finally snaps, as he's met someone whose just like him, a innocent person driven to the brink by an unknown force, both of them just someone else's puppet
I love how Toby does this kind of weird/disturbing enemies, they're creepy without being bloody or throwing curses. Recently like a meta comment saying that this is a numbers game and mostly all the dialogue of spamton with Cris yelling after the other fight because of cutting strings, it's some sort of deeper disturbing
It’s amazing how well Toby put everything together, compare undertale and you can see how much Toby grew. I mean the only real horror scene that got a good fright outa me was the “You think you are in control?” Ending to undertale. But my god Spamton Neo and Snowgrave really are some of the best horror I’ve seen in a long time.
Something to note is that Flowey and Chara don’t speak to Frisk, they speak directly to us, the player. My headcanon is that we control not Frisk/Kris, but their red [[HeartShapedObject]]. It’s what we use to select choices, e.g. Snowgrave, despite Noelle insisting she doesn’t know it… Kris, on some level knows he’s a puppet like Spamton, and that’s why he has “goosebumps” after the fight with Spamton NEO in the normal route. Spamton wanted so desperately to be free, but he can’t snap his strings. (They’re made of a much more powerful substance… meta-knowledge :P)
Honestly first time seeing Omega Flowery also gave me a good scare. Not in the sense of jumpscare/actually gutting horror but in the sense of horrified foreboding, suspense and dread.
@@localidiot450 because it’s now a leitmotif in both of the hidden bosses’ themes and they both have been driven to madness by presumably the same entity
Personally I found this fight in the Snowgrave route much more engaging, I feel a lot of people are just writing it off as impossible but it really isn't, it's just like Sans in the sense that it's all about learning the moves, when I finally defeated him I was able to get almost halfway through the fight without taking any damage, and finally defeating him was extremely satisfying, I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the fight during Pacifist, even if at a first glance it looks impossible. Here's some advice if someone needs it: - Don't even try attacking him normally, you should only be doing damage through X-Slashes, and every turn that you can't do an X-Slash is either a turn you should be healing or defending in order to do an X-Slash the next turn. - Chances are earlier in the chapter you got a Tension Bit, now's the time to use it, I always use it on the first turn and it's really useful because it allows you to do an extra X-Slash at the earlier turns, and in this fight the faster you are able to do damage the better, because you'll have to survive less of the harder attacks later on. - Do NOT shoot the heart during the attacks where his heart starts moving and shooting bullets, as it turns out this is one of the easiest attacks do dodge, and if you don't shoot the heart he keeps doing the move for a long while, allowing you to easily get around 40% to 50% TP in one turn while taking no damage at all. - This might be up to personal preference, but on the attack where you can shoot his eyes, face and mouth, start with the eyes, then move to the mouth and always leave the nose last, because the nose + the eye results in a deadly combination that can easily put you in a position where taking damage is simply unavoidable, thus you should be prioritizing getting rid of one of the two, personally I find the nose on it's own much easier to dodge so I always start with the eyes. - Do NOT use the healing move that costs TP, all your TP must be used for X-Slash, if you really need to heal use a CD Bagel. - I didn't know about this when I beat him, but apparently if you hold enter all the time, all your shots will come out as big shots, I don't know if this is intended or a bug or even if it actually works, but if it does I imagine it should be extremely helpful, especially during the Pipis attacks, since big shots destroy the Pipis in one hit. (Edit: and as a commenter has pointed out, it seems that now he does more damage if you do this)
@@meathir4921 I guess you're right that you should be able to afford it, but still I don't think it should be used carelessly, since for me one of the worst things that can happen in this fight is being unable to use an X-Slash on a turn because you don't have TP, the way I did it after the first turn I could afford it every other turn that I didn't have to heal. Maybe it's up to personal preference, I was just trying to give advise in a way that you waste the least amount of turns possible
I'm taking a very different approach because I'm a fucking masochist. I'm not using the ACT button at all, no defensive items are equiped and I'm using the wooden sword from the start of the game! Sometimes I even enrage him for fun, but it's pretty hard... Longest Attempt: 63% HP Left.

“ITS TIME TO BE A BIG SHOT” “The Air Crackles With freedom” “Spamton Begs The Audience to stop taking the Furniture out of his room” Freedom, That’s all they have longed for, but no matter how long they tried, they never got it

Edit: I think the last one says “don’t you wanna be free?” For anyone who doesn’t know, there is an advertisement from 1997 about Big shot soda from a former football player named Mike. Spamton commonly says “Mike” “1997” and “BIG SHOT” frequent.
1:47 it plays the a short part of the song dummy! from undertale. the reason is that since spamton was treated like a puppet or shall say dummy for the real threat of deltarune.

Meh, I don’t think Gaster will be in DR. I personally think it was the Knight (who is not Gaster), and he will be a recurring villain for all the hidden bosses. He’s quite obviously the Big Bad in DR (just ask Vriska! She pointed out there’s always a bigger bad to take down), and he clearly has some mysterious motives. As for the man behind the tree, I also don’t think it’s Gaster, as we know so little about him that I could make a list about the things we know about him. 1. Well, he is behind the tree. 2. Please tell me what happend when gaster was talking to spamton, i would like to hear the story
I assume every secret boss (And probably the "Knight") Will have the Jevil Motif.

oh yeah
Technically Blooky's theme, but yes, you're correct.
(sound familiar?)
Spamton then gloats about how no one is coming to help Kris after what they've done, and this goes on until Noelle's icon shows up in the ACT menu.
No matter which way you play this, chapter 3 is definitely going to be a major turning point in the story.
this thread is nice
Also Toby hitting you with his car
@@butterspike680 I WAS SO CONFUSED WHEN I SAW THAT I THOUGHT I FOUND SOMETHING RARE LIKE A SMALL CHANCE TO GET THAT ROOM

Here's some advice if someone needs it:
- Don't even try attacking him normally, you should only be doing damage through X-Slashes, and every turn that you can't do an X-Slash is either a turn you should be healing or defending in order to do an X-Slash the next turn.
(Edit: and as a commenter has pointed out, it seems that now he does more damage if you do this)
The big shot spam bug got “fixed.” You’re allowed to do it during either fight in a route but you’ll anger spamton and in return he’ll do more damage.
I disagree with not using the TP heal. You generate so much TP with the right set up and it heals 120, more than most healing items.
@@funa6968 I mean, I almost never had less than 30 TP after like turn 1
I'm taking a very different approach because I'm a fucking masochist.

Honestly, I was surprised at how many Undertale references are in the Spamton NEO fight, especially this song. The intro is a lot like Power of NEO, Power of NEO itself is sampled, and there’s a hint of the best part of Dummy!/Ghost Fight.
0:55 i fucking love this part holy shit jevil
I like how the beggining sounds menacing but then Toby remembers it's for Spamton and makes it funky instead
You feel like your a big shot
This [HYPERLINK LOCKED] sounds really [LOW TEMPERATURE] Toby did a good job he's now a [BIG SHOT]
I love the leitmotif of The World Revolving around a minute in
S o u p t i m e
Guys at 1:07 I think there’s lyrics
“Please Mike answer the phone”
“Hands on the top”
“Pull the strings and make them ring”
I couldn’t translate the last sentence it seemed too distorted.
Edit: I think the last one says “don’t you wanna be free?”
For anyone who doesn’t know, there is an advertisement from 1997 about Big shot soda from a former football player named Mike. Spamton commonly says “Mike” “1997” and “BIG SHOT” frequent.
Hey this is a nice Siivagunner ri-
Wait a second.
1:47 that bit from the mad dummy fight, so good.
2:17 Spamton hired Alvin to sing at that moment
1:47 it plays the a short part of the song dummy! from undertale. the reason is that since spamton was treated like a puppet or shall say dummy for the real threat of deltarune.
omg no way
Spambot Neo is actually Mettaton Neo but at 4:20 AM
This was my fight with him literally
@@BleatzRetro420 😅
Seems like You like it, chapter 2 was awesome, especially geno root :(
what happens when you mix Big Shot, Mortal Kombat, and just a hint of the Mad Dummy's theme????
SPAMTON NEO, BABY~
1:47 best beatdrop ever
1:08 Lyrics (My Guess)
"I think he's coming for me answer the phone, I can't explain until you're all alone, pull the strings and make them ring until your heart gets ripped out!
I think he's coming for me answer the phone, I can't explain until you're all alone, pull the strings and pull the strings and TELL YOU WHAT YOU BIG SHOT!
Can we all just embrace the fact that Toby is god?
its fantastic that toby fox comes back out of no where and the hole internet is freaking out about the music the theories the games all sorts
Yet another innocent bystander ruined by presumably gaster
The list so far:
1. Jevil
2. Spamton
2. He might recognize and be happy to see you.
3. He has at least 2 eggs, probably 8.
4. He offers you an egg.
5. His eggs are not too important, not too unimportant.
6. Well, he is not here anymore.
@@hansonkerman7286 you realize the knight is kris, right? When the queen is talking about the knight, it shows a hand with a knife. When kris spazzes out he uses his knife to create a new dark well.
@@AlexSmith-tp7xu personally I’m not quite sure that the spazzing out at the end of ch2 was making a dark fountain. what it IS is tbd, but I’m expecting another anticlimax like the end of ch1. raise your hand if you thought it was genocide^2: beyond genocide.
Yep.
Thought so.
@@hansonkerman7286 it is gaster, no question. If you go back to the dumbster heap after defeating spamton neo a bunch of shopkeepers will appear to tell you his backstory. The last one will tell you that the phone that spamton always used had "nothing but garbage noise". If you try to use your phone in the dark world there will be "nothing but garbage noise". That garbage noise is the sound effect of entry 17 which directly related to gaster basically confirming that is in fact him who called spamton and pressumably the one who also made jevil mad. And how is kris not the kinght? He literally made something that looks exactly like a fountain. Of course it can all be some kind of dream and not be real but if that's not the case he's definetely the knight.
@@AlexSmith-tp7xu then why didn't the queen recognize kris
1:08 spamton starts talking, and states some REALLY deep lore talking about probably gaster, or whoever he was talking to on the phone which was heard to be "garbage noise". here's what he says : I think he's coming for me, answer the phone, I can't explain until you're all alone, he pull the strings and makes them ring, can't tell you how much it's ringing! I think he's coming for me, answer the phone, I can't explain until we're you're alone, he pulls the strings he pulls the strings, I'll tell you what you BIG SHOT!
toby makes it hard to hear from background noise, and he speaks at an incredibly low volume, but yeah.
Jevil: Finally A Worthy Opponent, Our Battle Will Be Legendary!!!
U ok bro? You slammed ur face in the ground
I just noticed: around 1:02 you can hear the World revolving. I’ve also noticed that this particular time appears all over the game, possibly linking Jevil to a lot of things
I enjoy this even more then Megalovania, then again maybe that's because Megalovania has been played to death
Either way, this song is epic
I love how it has undyne music , jevil , mettaton.. so so many things of undertale and deltarune
where was undyne
My favorite part is when he says “Nows your chance to be a big shot be a big be a big shot”
A couple of lines down is gonna be a spoiler.
