Stay, Hope Not, You Never Know and The Happiest Girl are their ballad songs. I think these girls are the amazing girls. I like their every song.
You may remember in the Netflix Light Up The Sky show Jennie talking about having fellow trainees/friends leave training before debuting, and how painful that was for her. She later commented in an interview that she and Jisoo wrote parts of the lyrics for Stay. Many believe this song is about Jennie wanting the trainees to "Stay" and not leave training. While singing this song in a live concert in Seoul Jennie broke down crying and could not sing her part. Jisoo completed her lyrics and moved to sit next to Jennie to wipe away her tears. The signs Heaven is a place where nothing happens, and next to it Its a Good Day ... IMO means if nothing happens (nobody leaves) Its a good day. Note that MiYeon was supposed to be in BlackPink but left shortly before debuting. Sad, but she is now with G-Idle and doing well.
The seven members of Babymonster during their training evaluations were led to believe only five members would debut. Ironically, or for planned marketing strategy, performed a cover of "Stay" for one of their evaluations. It was awesome, and as of now all seven members will debut soon. I hope you will react to their 8 video episode show "The Last Evaluation" where their training and evaluations are documented. That's what Coaches do right? ... train and evaluate

Well as far as I know the song is dear to Jennie and it reminded her of her trainee days and saw friends leave or not make the cut and it was hard on her. She used to cry during concerts when she sung this song.

Coach is a natural talker, he could easily do stand up! Although the majority of BLACKPINK videos are shot in-house, STAY was filmed in and around Seoul, S. Korea. AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST, the next music video if you're going chronologically (great scrabble word) is shot in both studio and on location.

My queen is Jennie, but Rosé's voice is something else. You really should react to Rosé's cover of John Mayer's "slow dancing in a burning room".
STAY is about a dying relationship, the singer realizes that her partner has fallen out of love with her. She knows that she should end it but is still in love and still wants him to stay, even though she can feel his coldness. I think that the "Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens" refers to her state of mind, she just wants to stay with this person forever and not have to face breaking up. The city in the video represents her heart, once bright and full, now faded and empty.

Blackpink always deliver the best to their fans, Rose bring her guitar since 2012 audition at Sydney before joining YG as trainee. Stay was the softer song in their whole albums and another song was so sad call “ The Happiest Girl “ …. so so emotional 😢
BlackPink are the representative of climate change and environmental sustainable by the United Nations. They sang "Stay" during a special to highlight climate change. It's on their official channel and okay to react to if you are interested.
I heard this song many times and not once did I associate this with country music. It is just a pop ballad. Anyway if you want to take a detour I suggest you check out their live performance at Tokyo Dome. React to Ddu ddu du (remix), Really and Kiss and Make Up at this concert. Their stage presence and charisma are on another level.
Agreed that neither of us thought this sounded like country music, but one viewer said it did to them. Anyway, Coach got to bond with the Blinks a bit more. LOL

You guys are in for a surprise cuz you are reacting to all of Blackpink's lightweight/pink side songs. For the exceptions of a few more songs, It only gets better from here! Pink Venom, How you like that, The Girls, Pretty Savage (live), Du du du du du du, Typa Girl, Lisa's solo stuff Lalisa, Money and more importantly, Lilifilm #3!. Those are likely more of coach's speed.
Hmm, I personally always perceived Boombayah as Black side, due to the confidence and spiciness. I can see why you might still put it into the Pink side, though. Interesting.

Here's how I heard the real story of the song: When Blackpink had just come out, Lisa was getting a lot of hate (and also being subjected to a lot of racism because she's Thai). And she decided to leave the group. Thereupon, the girls (Jennie Jisoo and Rosé) wrote the song "Stay" for Lisa... Also, as you see in the last scene, Lisa runs to the girls laughing and they start having fun together. Later, men in white suits appear around, but the girls continue dancing without paying attention to them. Here the men in white suits represent those who hate Blackpink. So what this scene is trying to say is that when the girls are together nothing else matters, they will ignore the haters and always support each other.
I figured that after the CMIPTSD intro, at least we had Rose' up to bat first, asking Coach to Stay. Thought it would work out~
Also, to Mrs. Coach, that swing Jisoo was on was actually a terrifying death trap! There's not a chance in Hell I ever get up on that thing! Check out the Stay Making Film if you'd like to know more.
There is a rather involved story either entwined or that the Blinks constructed. Culminating at the end when Lisa dies and joins her members in Heaven. The first bright colors and happiness in the entire video. I'm sure other fellow Blinks will explain in more detail.

I rather liked this one. The song told a story (although once or twice I had to rewind the video to check the lyrics subtitles) and was far more melodic than some of their other pieces. Beautiful vocals - and IMHO, so much better for the lack of suggestive dance moves!

Dude.. I was exposed to HEE HAW all my childhood in North Carolina. But in hind sight... Lots of them songs are still good. BUT....... We all need to broaden our listening so we can get exposed to all the wonderful music all around the world. Great reaction. keep up the good work.

One of the theories that was put forward at the time (I am not saying that it is correct) is that in the MV, the girls have had an accident, in this case a bus accident (7:59), and they are in limbo. Everything there is desolate and we see hidden messages like the one you have read. The song is about someone not leaving you (it never says that it refers to a partner) it could be a family member, a friend. So it can refer to losing a loved one. At the end we see a lot of people standing around, watching, all of them seem to be wearing a uniform something like a military uniform. Let's remember that Korea is a country at war (it is true that they have been 70 years without open conflict). This is just a theory.

Great reaction! I was forced one summer to listen to country music as part of a survey crew. I actually grew to enjoy some of the songs. Still not my thing but I’m not traumatized by it like Mr. Coach. Thanks to you both again ❤👍

I've always said the same thing about country music and I grew up with all of those old singers as well through my parents, but they at least listened to some old rock as well.
LOL, Coach had no chance. It was old-school country on one side from the grandparents, and old-school gospel from parents.

And it is folk/ singer songwriter type of song vs country. Prechorus of Whistle gets called country more due to the use of what sounds like a possible slide guitar sound.
Rose does have a couple of solos but my favorites are her covers. Top favorite is slow dance Ina burning room. Unfortunately I think her covers gets blocked on reaction channels because I never see anyone do them.

Great Reaction CoachCastTV! A lot of fans hated Stay it’s BlackPinks least popular song! I was in the same boat as you where I was forced to listen to Country as a kid! But as I grew older I realized a lot of the Rockers were influenced by country singers! But as for Stay is very special because Rosé plays her guitar and Jennie wrote some lyrics! In some live performances Jennie tends to break down crying because she was so passionate about Stay!

"STAY" is My Favorite song from BlackPink(‘The Happiest Girl’, is now tied with it)... And Jennie was one of the writers on "Stay", but was not credited.
To Me it's about those who have left us(passed), we want them to STAY. And the people in white appearing and disappearing at the end are their spirits... still with us, but not at the same time.
BTW you should ALWAYS pay attenting to any Signs and Writting/Graffiti in the background of this or ANY BlackPink M/V. They are important and have meaning.

I have the same thing coach! The twangy need to cut my wrists music was played by my dad and uncles and I suffered. I did start to like Shania, the Dixie Chicks and some of the more upbeat music but wear ear plugs if I hear Johnny Cash, Merle or the others.
